It Was Just A Mask by theheartsbeat

My wide eyes caught the shape that stood against the orange sky,

This form of a being, a puppet writhing and screaming,

That is is when my heart froze and tears welled up in my eyes.

It was just a mask.

A mask, a lie, a cloak, a cover for the truth, a face hidden in darkness.

A cold and unfeeling mask.

It was just a mask.

Hell-bent and convulsing,

Sickening and massacring,

Damnable and horrifying,

Blood-curdling and terrifying.

It was just a mask.

This thing that had frightened people,

This thing that dared to threaten their lives,

This thing that took precious moments and struck them with fear!

To hell with this lie!

To hell with his evil!

"I will win!", I declared to him, my fist raised in righteous anger.

"I will win, Majora!", I declared to the whole world, water weaving down my cheeks.

But he didn't hear.

Because he was a mask.

Just a mask.

Hope you enjoyed, despite the depressing theme of cold and clinical yet maniacal feelings. I have another Majora's Mask- based poem, called 'The Moon's Tear', if you are interested.

And yes, it was written in Link's point of view, if that was unclear.

So, favorite and review as you see fit and have a great day!
