Chapter 2: (Re)introductions, confusion, and name-calling

.

The silence that ensued after Reborn's departure was long and deafening. And thick. And tense. And scary. At least for Tsuna.

The poor boy was standing awkwardly in front of his bedroom door; his hands, which were hidden behind him, were nervously playing with the hem of his mint-green pajama shirt. He was looking everywhere but at his Cloud Guardian. Even so, he just knew that he was being looked at – no, glared at.

Hiieeeee! Tsuna gulped, trying to clear his suddenly tight throat. Inside his brain, a mantra was going on and on and on. And on.

Hibari-san is in my house! Hibari-san is in my house! Hibari-san is in my house! Why is Hibari-san in my house?!

He could see his inner chibi self inside his brain – running around in circle, pulling on his hair and screaming in panic. On the outside, however, he was glad to note that he was calm and collected (read petrified and scared-shit).

"A-ano - " Tsuna started to say, but then stopped when the glare intensified.

He promptly changed his mantra.

I'm going to die! I'm going to die! I'm going to die! PLEASE DON'T LET ME DIE!

Hibari smirked as he watch the herbivore hyperventilate in front of him. He took a step closer and almost let out a snort when the boy whimpered.

In all honesty, Hibari was actually feeling a little ticked for he have no idea how he came to be here. He wasn't even sure if he understood what happened.

.

– Flashback –

Hibari was on the rooftop of Nami-chu, lying on his back and watching the clouds as he wait for the day to start (it was only six in the morning) when the baby came.

"Hibari," was the usual greeting accompanied by a slight tip of that fedora hat.

"Akambo," Hibari greeted back, not bothering to rise from his comfortable position. He spared the Arcobaleno a small glance, saw the smirk, and a shadow fell over him.

Yes.

Just like that.

Then everything went blank.

– End of Flashback –

.

When Hibari came to, he found himself inside an unfamiliar house, standing outside a door with a small, wooden tuna hanging on it.

And he was missing his shoes.

And his pants.

Before he could contemplate this, however, he suddenly found himself looking up and up and up to the biggest (quite literally) herbivore on the planet, Sawada Tsunayoshi.

Which made him so surprised he could only stare. Then he became confused. Which, in turn, made him feeling just a tad murderous. And very much ready to bite.

Looking up – again – and seeing the slight shake on the herbivore's bigger form (Hibari narrowed his eyes in annoyance when he realized that he had to strain his neck and actually look up just so he could glare), he quickly decided on his course of action. He will ask for an explanation first. Then he will bite. Hard.

"Ne," a small voice broke through the silence.

Tsuna's eyes almost bugged out. "H-hai?!" he answered quickly, straightening his arms on his sides and standing rigidly at attention, all military-like.

"Explain what's going on, herbivore."

were the words that was supposed to come out.

"Kyouya's hungwy," is what came out instead.

". . ."

". . ."

"E-eh?" Tsuna answered blankly, blinking because he wasn't sure of what he heard.

Hibari also blinked. He wasn't sure of what he said.

.

- break -

A/N: (Just a short pause here.) After the last sentence, most of you must have already figured out what my little twist is. For those of you who still haven't, here's a small explanation.

Hibari was hit by the 10-year bazooka. (Amazing how Reborn managed to shoot Hibari with the Bazooka, just like that. Not even a warning. Reborn, really.) The result, however, was in reverse. Instead of exchanging places with his 10 years older future self, he exchanged with his 3 years old younger self, instead. And somehow (here comes the twist) he was still able to retain his present 16 years old self. Sorta, kinda, in a way. It was . . . partial. Like, Hibari can see, hear, smell, taste, and feel what his younger self was feeling/doing. However, he will not have any control whatsoever. He won't be able to move the body he was in, he won't be able to speak his mind. All he can really do is watch, observe, and experience. He was just . . . there. Like, inside the young Hibari's mind, but also outside it. Though, later in the story, he will be able to communicate with his younger self. Maybe tell him what to do or say? Whether his younger self will obey or not . . . Well, he'll just have find out, won't he?

Anyway. How is this possible, you ask? Well, I don't really have an explanation. All you really have to know is that it was Giannini who fixed/tuned the bazooka. So, of course, one way or another, something was bound to go weird. Or not. Maybe all of these are intentional. It was Reborn that was behind all these, after all.

Either way, it should be interesting how Hibari would react (inwardly) as his younger self interact with Tsuna and the others. Should be fun. But I should warn you. From here on out, Hibari (both teenager and child) may become a bit OOC. Especially the child. He's gonna be so cute and adorable you wouldn't think he's Hibari as a child.

So, yeah. By the way, please don't get confused. From now on, I will be using Kyouya to refer to the child self and when I use Hibari, it means I'm referring to the 16 years old. (He's around 16 years old, right? LOL. I'm not sure of Hibari's age.)

That's all. Now, to continue . . .

- end of break -

.

W-what? Tsuna thought confusedly. Hun…gwy?

Surprised eyes flew to Hibari and for the very first time that morning, Tsuna looked – really looked – at his Cloud Guardian.

When Reborn told him earlier that the child in front of him was Hibari Kyouya, all coherent thoughts left his still sleep-addled brain. He had panicked and became overwhelmed by Hibari's presence – THE Hibari Kyouya, the strongest, the scariest, most illogical, and probably the most satirical – no, wait. That's Reborn.

Anyway. THE Hibari Kyouya was in his house, standing just outside his bedroom door and glaring up at him. Therefore, it was perfectly understandable that Tsuna became so scared that he failed to notice one very important detail. And that was Hibari's appearance. Or his age. Or, actually, his size since that was the first thing that Tsuna noted, anyway, as he took in the two – three? – years old version of his Cloud Guardian.

Currently, Hibari stood at only under two feet tall – barely reaching Tsuna's mid-thigh. He was wearing an over-sized shirt that Tsuna vaguely recognized as their school uniform's undershirt. Except for that – and the black jacket that still have the DC armband attached to it that was currently being dragged behind the chibi prefect – he appears to be wearing nothing else.

Tsuna promptly blushed upon realizing this.

No!

Tsuna wasn't being a pervert. Of course not! It's just that – chibi or not – this is still Hibari-san and he's always been proper and neat when it comes to his clothing and he always looked impeccable and handsome and he always manages to make Tsuna stutter and blush just by looking at him and now he's not wearing any pants and that's just . . .

ANYWAY.

Hibari's physical appearance hasn't change that much. He just looked younger is all. Still, Tsuna wonders, the prefect look so much . . . different. Like another person altogether.

Tsuna have always thought that his Cloud Guardian looked far too innocent for his age, and especially with his infamous I'll-bite-you-to-death-just-because-you-annoy-me nature. Innocent, that is, until you see his eyes. Those dark orbs that were expressionless most of the time, but held such frightening intensity whenever he was pissed at someone for vandalizing Nami-chuu. . .

At present, those very same eyes looked young and innocent and actually guileless and oh so huge that Tsuna found himself unable to look away.

Dark, stormy gray, Tsuna thought, feeling dazed. Hibari-san's eye color is dark, stormy gray with a few scattering of blue flecks . . .

Each individual lashes that framed those fathomless grey-blue eyes are dark, thick, and long, and they manage to look conspicuous while making the orbs they surrounded stand out at the same time. Amazing, beautiful eyelashes. Only Hibari-san.

The eyes blinked and Tsuna was finally able to continue his examination of his Cloud Guardian's appearance.

Hibari's nose was small and cute as a button; his eyebrows are dark and arched elegantly; his cheekbones impossibly high but rounded with baby fats; his chin small and just a little bit pointy; his middle is rounded like most child's are; and his limbs and fingers are tubby. And his hair. It was short, its end curling at the base of the prefect's neck and just behind his ears. Its color dark as midnight and holding a certain shine that hints on its softness. It looks incredibly touchable.

By the end of his inspection, Tsuna's entire face was all red. But not because he was embarrassed. Or thinking about . . . unthinkable, improper things. No. It was because the young Vongola found chibi Hibari so adorable that he wanted to squeal – squeal – in delight and hug his Cloud Guardian tight and never, ever let go.

Yes. That's how precious chibi Hibari Kyouya is.

Hibari found himself glaring up at the herbivore.

His face is all red… What kind of perverted thoughts was he thinking?

The prefect felt suddenly self-conscious and he wanted to look down at himself to see if something was wrong with his appearance but his neck wouldn't move. Instead, his head continued to tilt upward and his eyes continued to stare up at the herbivore who was now fidgeting and twitching like he couldn't stay still. And the brunette was still staring at him and it's making Hibari feel unnerved and confused.

Which brings him to his odd statement earlier.

Kyouya's hungwy.

What. The hell? Did he really just say that? And if so, did he really say it like that? As far as Hibari could remember, he's always had a decent vocabulary, better than most actually.

But just a moment ago, he was unable to pronounce the letter R. And he had spoken like a pathetic, herbivorous child. And right now, he's still unable to move his head. Or his eyes. Or his hands. Or any part of his body! Just what in the HELL is going on?!

"A-ano, Hibari-san?"

The herbivore's timid voice broke through Hibari's reverie. He felt his temper snapped and refocused on the brunette. He started to open his mouth to demand an explanation of this . . . this . . . strange and frustrating situation.

But again, words that didn't even cross his mind came tumbling out of his mouth.

"Kyouya," his mouth said in an irritating innocent voice while his right hand rose to point a chubby finger to himself.

The brunette blinked before actually beaming at him. "Hontou? I can call you Kyouya?"

Hibari felt suddenly dazed at the brightness of that smile. And the sound of his name on those lips. But he told himself that he's still angry so he focused on the question.

Try and I'll bite you to death, he wanted to say. But – surprise, surprise! – the complete opposite of 'no' came unbidden from his lips.

"Hai. 'm Kyouya." His finger jabbed into his chest again.

The herbivore's smile became even more radiant and his previously scared demeanor was suddenly completely gone and was replaced by his sunny, all-bright-eyes-and-lightly-flushing-cheeks-worry-free disposition.

Hibari found himself itching for his tonfa.

The brunette chuckled before pointing to himself. "And I'm Tsuna. Yoroshiku onegaishimasu!" he cheerfully offered his hand for Hibari to shake.

Hibari watched – resigned (for now) – as his hand refused to stay still by his side and rose to shake the proffered hand. He had to tell himself that he was now in a child's body when he saw his hand disappear within the (now) bigger grasp of the herbivore.

"Yoroshiku...Tuna."

….

T-Tuna?!

"Right. Hahaha." Tsuna held onto Kyouya's hand – so soft! – and decided that he like this innocent, young, adorable version of his Cloud Guardian. "You said you're hungry, Kyouya. Let's go downstairs and eat? I'm sure Kaa-san has already cooked some breakfast."

Tsuna rose awkwardly from where he had crouched low in front of Kyouya. He felt his still-aching muscles protest but ignored it in favor of gently tugging on the child, silently telling him to follow. He was surprise when he wasn't refused and the boy actually skittered to match his larger steps. Tsuna smiled down at him before noticing the black jacket trailing behind them. He paused.

"Kyouya, that jacket . . ."

The child looked up at Tsuna before dragging the cloth forward to look at it. He tilted his head to one side as if puzzled before handing the garment to Tsuna.

The brunette's hand automatically closed around the soft fabric. It was his turn to look at it. Immediately, he felt his heart thud inside his chest. In his mind's eye, he saw Hibari striding along the corridor of Namimori, his face arranged in a confident smirk, his eyes as predatory as ever, the safety pin that held the armband to his sleeve blinking as it caught the light, the end of the jacket swinging dramatically behind him.

Tsuna felt suddenly sad when he realized that he wouldn't be able to see Hibari today. Unless, of course, Kyouya will transform back to Hibari before it's time for him to go to school. Which Tsuna doubted very much. Not only was his Cloud Guardian transformed to his past – instead of future – self but he had a feeling that more than 5 minutes have already passed since Hibari was hit by the bazooka.

That is, if it was indeed the 10-year bazooka that caused all this. It was the most likely explanation. But with Reborn being the instigator – and Tsuna don't need his hyper intuition to realized that this is an absolute fact – you never really know the what, how, and why this crazy, impossible things happen. And why it keeps happening to poor Tsuna, for that matter.

One thing is for certain though. Tsuna needed to have a talk with Giannini seeing that he was probably the one to tweak the bazooka before it had been used on his poor Cloud Guardian.

He'll do this, of course, right after he feed Kyouya and his own rumbling stomach some delicious breakfast.

. . .

No. Wait.

Tsuna paused.

He have school today. Which means he didn't have the time to confront the self-proclaimed genius inventor.

Hmmm.

Right. After school then. Gokudera and Yamamoto will probably want to go with him –

Wait. Giannini. Where is he staying again? For that matter, Is he actually still here in Japan?!

Tsuna, feeling appropriately frustrated, forgot that he wasn't alone. "Nooooo!" came his manly, discouraged wail.

Kyouya, that squeal-inducing, adorable child, promptly give the human-Tuna a wide-eyed stare. He inched away slowly – arriving to the conclusion that the older boy was unbalanced.

Hibari, for his part, shook his head, almost sadly. The herbivore was finally losing it. Must be the unhealthy (and unwanted, but Hibari didn't know that) amount of time he spent with that sadistic tutor of his and those other loud, irritating herbivores. His sanity – what little left of it – finally fled him. Tsk tsk. The poor child. (- Hibari is being sarcastic here, btw.)

And that folks, is only the beginning of poor Tsuna's beautiful, sunshine-and-butterfly-filled Wednesday.

Sigh.

It's gonna be a looong day.

….

….

There you go. What do you guys think? Isn't Kyouya adorable?! And Tsuna, the poor, poor kid. But that's okay 'cause he's gonna be spending lots and lots of time with his chibi Cloud Guardian. Kyaah! Yay for 1827! And, of course, Reborn. That awesome, amazing, wonderful baby. . .

Thank you for reading and please, watch out for my next update.

Much Love,
