Gray ran down the stairs as fast as he possibly could. Juvia was right behind him, and he couldn't help but wonder how she was running so fast in those heels. The duo made their way down to be greeted by worried faces and something luminous in the middle of the floor.
'Lucyyyyyyyyy!' Gray heard Natsu's scream piercing through the silence. It was only then that Gray realized that the luminous object was Lucy herself. Gray stood absolutely still as he watched Natsu crouch down near Lucy. As Natsu tried to touch her, he drew his hand back as if he had been electrocuted. No one doubted that since they all could now see the swirls around the light emanating from Lucy.
Slowly, very slowly, the light around her began to dim. And with that Lucy disappeared. All that was left was Natsu's wail.
"Lucyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!"
Juvia watched from the sidelines, side by side with Gray, at the unfolding events. She could feel chills moving up her spine. Juvia realized that the chills weren't because of fear. She looked up and locked her eyes with Erza across the room. She could see it in Erza's eyes.
'The cold and terrorising presence of pure darkness and evil.'
Wendy hugged Natsu as attempts to console him repeatedly failed. Gray quietly shuffled out of the silent hall. He gazed at the night sky. He was soon joined by Juvia.
"You felt it too, didn't you?" She whispered.
Gray nodded. He turned his head to the right to face her. He saw the moisture in her eyes and felt his own fill up.
"This is bad." Juvia choked at her own words. "We don't even know what happened or where she is. She doesn't even have her keys with her!" She sobbed.
It was pure reflex and yet Gray possessively wrapped his arms around her. "We'll find her." He promised. He placed his hand behind her head and brought it against his chest.
Juvia snuggled into his hold and gripped his sides.
"Juvia is scared, Gray-sama." She mumbled.
Gray tightened his hold on her. He wouldn't let her go. Not when she was confiding in him again, and trusting him her heart. His life wasn't the easiest, but he had to live it for everyone's sake. He would be living life. For as long as Juvia was with him, all would be well.
At least, he hoped so.
