Yay! An update! Finally!

Sorry about how late it was. I had stopped writing Fanfiction for a while. I think lots of Fanfic writers go through those phases where they just drop their stories, start watching anime, reading other people's fanfictions, maybe paying attention in school more or something. That's the phase I had entered. Sorry for leaving you hanging. I decided last Saturday that I'd try updating most of my well liked stories on my Birthday. That's today so here's the promised update!

On another note, I really enjoyed writing this chapter. I hope you like it!

Disclaimer: I DON'T OWN HETALIA: AXIS POWERS.

"This is ridiculous," Gilbert muttered under his breath as he swung his legs over the couch's arm rest. Lili walked in and set a cup of tea down on the table in front of him. "I bet that kid went home and cried for his mommy. 'Mommy! Mommy! A punk from the streets came into school and beat me up! Wahhhh!'" Gilbert scoffed. "What a loser. I shouldn't have let him go like that …"

Ludwig rolled his eyes. "What's done is done … And you do realize you just called yourself a punk, right?"

Gilbert frowned. "That's not the point unawesome little brother!"

Lili just giggled at their conversation. "I know that Ron is a terrible person but he's still human. Thank you for sparing him."

Ludwig blushed and turned away while his brother waved her off. "Ja, ja, whatever. You said that earlier."

"But," began the blue eyed blonde. "We should head out soon."

Lili's eyes widened in surprise at his suggestion. "B-But why?"

"I don't want to continue being a burden and our presence here will only make things worse," Ludwig replied gruffly. "If that Ron child actually did tell anyone and they found us here, you'd get in more trouble than ever."

"See! We shouldn't have let that brat go!" exclaimed Gilbert.

Ludwig turned to his brother. "I hate him and I would've felt better if we beat him up until he was unconscious and barely breathing. But … if we hadn't let him go, what would we do? We couldn't have killed him. If we did we would be charged for man slaughter and besides, I doubt I have it in me to kill a kid."

Gilbert pouted. "Why do you always have to be right, Luddy?"

"I-Is it possible you guys can stay longer? You aren't a burden at all and …" Lili sighed, already knowing Ludwig's answer. He placed one hand on her shoulder and spoke softly, "Sorry Lili, but I think it's for the best that we leave. We only meant to stay here for a while anyway."

Lili looked away sadly. "I … I understand."

"But where would we go?" Gilbert asked.

"Perhaps," began Ludwig, "we can travel to Spain or the United Kingdom. We want to stay away from Germany. No doubt they'll catch up to us soon if we stay here."

Gilbert nodded. "I get it. Then I suppose I can get packed."

Ludwig raised an eyebrow. "You didn't bring anything."

The red eyed man chuckled. "Maybe so, but I bet I can find a ton of nice shirts in Vash's closet. I'll see if I can find you some too, okay?" Gilbert jumped up from the couch and said, "While I'm doing that, you get prepared for our departure." He winked before swiftly heading up stairs and out of sight.

His younger brother's expression was one of confusion. Get ready? How? Does he mean gather some food from the kitchen? Or use the bathroom? Ludwig's eyes then wandered over to Lili. Oh … that's what he meant.

Lili still felt the heated blush that had risen to her cheeks earlier. Ludwig's hand still rested on her shoulder. She didn't know if he forgot or not so she didn't say anything. "Um …" she started only to have Ludwig step back quickly and retract his hand from her shoulder.

"Yes?"

"W-When do you think I'll be able to see you two again?"

Ludwig sighed. He didn't want to disappoint her but … "To tell the truth, it's unlikely that we'd be able to see each other again in the near future. Gilbert has something. Something that the Vatican will probably stop at nothing to get back. We'll be on the run for a very long time and well … it might take a few years until we are able to return."

Lili lowered her head. Her hands clenched at her sides. "Then …" she muttered. "T-Then I … I'll wait for you!" the girl exclaimed. Ludwig's eyes widened in surprise as she continued on. "I'll wait for years! Five, ten, even more if I have to!"

"… Lili?"

Lili lifted her head, a sad smile formed on her lips and her eyes were full of tears. "I'll wait until you two ro come back alright? I don't want to think you left me just like big bruder. I will believe in you."

"But, Lili, I might not be able to come back. What if I leave this world? What if Gilbert does? I don't want you waiting forever," he told her worriedly.

"But that's why I said, I believe in you. Please," she mumbled, "come back."

The room grew quiet. Lili's large eyes gazed up at Ludwig as he looked away in shame. He didn't know if he could promise to come back. He'd have to try is best not to die and he'd have to protect his older brother as well. It'd be a hard promise to keep …

But for you, he thought, looking back at her once more, I think I can do it.

A small smile appeared on Ludwig's lips. He bent down and cupped Lili's cheek with his hand. His facial features were soft and warm. He was comforting. Ludwig then leaned his forehead against hers. He could hear uneven breathing. She was nervous.

Ludwig only smiled however. Did Lili know how much she meant to him?

Gilbert glared at the black communicator in his hands. After going through Vash's old clothes and finding a few nice shirts that didn't make him look like he was going to some kind of elegant party, the red eyed man found himself taking the communicator out of his pocket.

He examined it.

Before escaping the Germany branch, Lien had given it to him. The only question was, why? Lien had been a buddy of his since the Academy but that still didn't mean she wasn't working against him. She would always go on about how much she wanted to join the Vatican. To be the first Buddhist to actually be able to contribute a large amount of work into the Demon Hunting Organization. Would she be loyal to the Vatican and see him as an enemy too?

But then, why would she give the communicator to him in the first place? Was she planning on tracking him with it?

Gilbert sighed. He felt like he was betraying Lien in some way. Back when they were kids the two of them trusted each other to the fullest. As they grew older they got a little wiser and began thinking more about their decisions, but there was still trust between them. Now he had no trust in her at all really. He was doubting her.

"Why does this have to be so difficult?!" Gilbert whined, staring intently at the communicator in his hand. To trust or not to trust her …

Hesitantly, the albino reached forward and tapped the little black button that blended in on the communicator's side. It beeped like a telephone, waiting for the person on the other end to answer. He decided that he'd hear her out first and then conclude if he could trust her or not.

The beeping seized not long after he had pushed the button, and a loud shout echoed throughout the room. "Gilbert?!" It was Lien.

"Lien?" he questioned.

"Finally! I've been wondering when you were going to actually give me a call," she told him. "It took you long enough. Are you out of Germany yet?"

Gilbert reluctantly explained, "I've been in Switzerland for the past two days."

"That's way too close to Italy. I probably passed you on my way to Rome."

The albino paused. A confused look graced his features. "Why were you going to Italy?"

Lien, on the other end, had grinned when she said, "I'm now officially a member of the Vatican." It took a while for Gilbert to take it in. "Y-You … You WHAT?!"

"I'm a member of the Vatican. Have you become even dumber over the past few days?" she asked, humorously. "… I know you're probably surprised but I've been dreaming about this chance for years. Now that I have it I don't want to mess up." She then sighed. "But you had to go and ruin everything."

Gilbert cocked an eyebrow. "ME?"

"You were the one who decided to piss off the Vatican and run away with the crystal," she stated.

"What does that have to do with your job?!"

Lien hesitated. She didn't want to sound odd or anything. Saying, "friends stick together until the very end" sounded too mushy. Instead she settled with, "You're a friend and even with Ludwig, you can't hide from the Vatican forever."

Gilbert's eyes widened slightly. What she would say next would determine his level of trust in her. "You'll need my help. I'll alert you of any move the Vatican makes to try and catch you. I'll be your insider. That way you can stay safe. I'm jeopardizing my job here though."

"Lien … Are you serious?!" Gilbert asked, a smile beginning to appear on his face.

"Aren't I always," she replied. "Besides, why else would I give you the communicator?" Gilbert was not about to tell her how his trust in her had begun to waver.

"… I don't know," he answered as innocently as possible.

Lien sighed. "Don't forget Gil, I've got your back, alright?"

"Yeah," said Gilbert. Then a thought struck him. By the way, where do you think we should head to next?"

"… Hmmm … You're in Switzerland right? The best place to go from there would be Spain."

"Spain, huh?"

"Well yeah, think about it. Because you idiotically went to Switzerland instead of … I don't know Sweden or Belarus, you can't go near Russia or Asia where it's probably safest because you'll be passing Germany, Austria, and Italy again. You don't want to get spotted by the Vatican. Plus, if you go to Spain you'll be able to see Antonio again."

"Oh yeah! I haven't seen Tonio in a long time." Gilbert smiled it would be nice to see him along with Lars and Bella again. "But wait, that's Purifier territory. They'll kick me out of Spain."

"Not necessarily. You might luck out because of your relationship with Antonio. That way, you get to stay and the other demon hunters will be forced to leave you alone."

"Kesesese! Lien you're a genius!"

"Thanks," she spoke modestly. "In any case, I'd get going so you can make it in Spain by … I don't know … two days."

"Sure thing!"

"Alright, I'm ending the call. I have to go and talk to my assistant."

"You have an assistant? Like you can order him around and stuff?" Gilbert grinned. "Awesome."

"Whatever, I'll talk to you later," she said, and with that she ended the conversation. Gilbert slipped the communicator into his pocket before grabbing the bag of Vash's clothes and straggling downstairs. Once downstairs he was met by a blushing Lili, who gave him a big hug to say goodbye and a stern glance from Ludwig.

"Are we going yet bruder," asked the blonde German.

Gilbert nodded. "Yep! And I know where. I finally got around to using that communicator Lien had given us before we left. She said its best that we head to Spain and find Antonio. Because we're not a part of the Demon Hunter Organization anymore and because I have connections with Antonio, they might let us stay. It'll keep the Vatican off our tail for a while."

Ludwig nodded. "Lien always does the thinking for you."

"Shut up. In any case," he turned to Lili as Ludwig grabbed a bag from behind him. "We'll be going now."

Lili reluctantly nodded. "Alright." The trio headed to the door. There, they all shared their goodbyes one more time. Gilbert ruffled Lili's hair affectionately before suddenly he felt something. What was this feeling he was getting?

It was as if someone was watching them. Who-?

"Oh lookie here," giggled a smooth silky voice. "I've found you."

Gilbert and Ludwig's heads snapped left and right before the youngest brother pointed up. "The sky!" he shouted.

Gilbert looked up as well just in time and saw a pretty lady with long wavy brunette hair. She wore a red dress and boots. Her eyes were sharp and hard and her mouth twisted up into an amused smile.

She wasn't a normal lady, however. Atop her head were two black horns and her nails were sharp and solid. A black tail swayed back and forth behind her. She was a demon.

"What do you want?"

"You," she replied. "Oh wait, how should I put this? It isn't really you that I want. More like, I want what you have."

"And what would that be?" Gilbert growled. He didn't like talking to demons and now just seeing one reminded him of his lost comrades. He glanced at Lili who was being blocked by Ludwig. At least he knew she was safe for now.

The demon woman laughed slightly. "Are you stupid? What else would I want? Demons don't exactly need money or clothing." She paused and her eyes narrowed. "You are Gilbert Beilschmidt, right?"

Gilbert didn't say anything and continued to glare at the demon, no monster, before him. What could she want-

Oh, the crystal.

"I'm guessing you are Gilbert …?" she cocked an eyebrow before shaking her head. "Whatever. Just hand over the crystal and no one gets hurt."

"I don't think so!" shouted the albino before groping out his knife and hurling it at her. Quickly and with hardly any work, the demon caught the blade in between her fingers. She glanced at it before huffing. "You're actually pretty fast. But I'm faster. And I don't like having things thrown at me."

Before Gilbert could even blink, the demon was before him and brought down her leg upon him in one swift kick. "Don't mess with me," she ordered angrily.

Gilbert fell to the ground and coughed out blood while Ludwig stared in shock at how quick she had been. His mouth hung open. The demon woman saw this and grinned. "You haven't even seen what I can do." And she lunged.

A young man with dark brown hair, wearing a black suit growled as he hid behind a park tree. Wherever he went, they wouldn't seem to leave him alone. Those bastards, he thought angrily.

His breathing had grown jagged. He laid his head against the tree bark, his fedora tilting ever so slightly. "Stupid Mafioso punks. Stupid gun wound. Stupid Feliciano," he swore under his breath before muttering silently. "But I won't stop. No matter what, I'm going to find my savior. I'll find him, if it's the last thing I do!"

And that's a wrap. Finally Elizaveta meets Gilbert and shipping will commence in the next chapter hopefully! Also, I bet you guys already know who the mysterious guy in the last two paragraphs is. We'll see what part he has in the story later. I hope you guys enjoyed this! Starting next chappie, its good bye Lili. Well, until then, see you! :)
