Hope in the dark.
Chapter 10 - The Devils Layer
Disclaimer - Not mine.
Apologies for not posting in forever but I have had a busy few years.
Magneto was seated at the head of a long dinning table his two children seated at the furthest end. His blond spiky haired son eating his food the way he did everything else in life, quickly and with out pausing for breath. His black haired with red tints at the edge daughter was pushing the food around the plate staring down avoiding looking at the fellow occupants.
"You not hungry Wanda?" Magneto said his voice almost apprehensive as he spoke to his sullen child.
"Well, Father." Wanda started her eyes darting up to glare at her father. "Maybe if the company wasn't so sickening I would have more of an appetite." As Wanda spoke the glass ornaments that covered the room began to shake.
"I thought we had come to an understanding Wanda, that you had agreed to give this family a real shot so long as I promised to stay away from the war between humans and mutant kind."
"You forget father, there would be no war if you hadn't fueled it with your arrogance and hate!" Wanda snapped her control slipping further causing a glass swan to shatter. "Your arrogance which causes you to hide everything from those you promised to be honest to!" Wanda screamed.
"Wanda!" Pietro screamed as the items in the room smashed around them causing the air to become filled with sharp shards of glass. Dropping his fork Pietro grabbed his sister fleeing the room before the grand clock with the smashed screen could make a move of the second hand. A moment later the young boy came back for his father.
Once they were all safe in the hallway Wanda who had reined in her powers sat on floor collapsed muttering apologies to her brother who had small cuts from the glass covering his face and hands.
Looking at his distraught sister he knelled down to level his face to hers looking her in the eye. "What happened Wanda, we were doing well?" Pietro asked softly. "I thought he was trying?" Pietro gestured to their father.
Magneto had been doing his best by his two children since the events caused by Apocalypse, he had apologized and taken his two children away from all of the dangers of the world to heal as a family.
"I heard him, Pietro." Wanda muttered. "Xavier was here last night, they were talking about me."
Wanda looked at her father as her eyes began to water. "He said I was uncontrollable!" She cried out loud, sobbing into her brothers shoulder. "He said they should have let them take me away."
"What!" Pietro snapped staring his father down.
"You have heard only parts my dear child." Magneto muttered looking past his son to his broken girl. "Xavier has a new child at the school and he came looking for advise."
Magneto got up from the floor where Pietro had placed him. "Wanda there is much I have to tell you, and I will I promise, but for now you must be patient." Magneto made his way over to his little girl as Pietro moved away quickly, the older mutant put a hand under her chin pulling her face up to look her in the eye. "I can sense a plane preparing for land near by, I can make a logical guess that Charles was correct in his assumption that they would come to me, and my dear child what I have to say is to painful to repeat, and there is another who must also hear your tale." Wanda looked into her fathers eyes seeing the honesty in what he was saying, she nodded reluctantly looking away and wiping her eyes.
"Pietro, I need you to go to the landing pad to meet our guests!" Magneto ordered standing tall. "I believe we will be playing host to the X-Men."
Okay so not a long chapter but it is an introduction to some of the relations I have going forward in the story. I have always seen Magneto as seeing his daughter as powerful and caring for her deeply, whilst being scared of her power, I hope this will come across in the explanation next chapter.
