For the readers who are not familiar with the latest updates of HunterxHunter, I highly recommend googling HunterxHunter wikia and read briefly about Alluka Zoldyck.
Disclaimer: I do not own Inuyasha nor HunterxHunter.
Perfect Competence
"So, why now?"
Hisoka tapped the counter with his index finger as Illumi stared out the window of the bar. From what Illumi had described, the young child of Zoldyck family could bring much trouble. And it was understandable that Illumi wanted to get rid of the child for the sake of the Zoldyck family, but the timing of his request was out of the blue: a little too spontaneous for Illumi.
"Originally I was going to ask you when Gon was still in the hospital, since I knew Killua was going to ask my parents for permission. But your little friend intervened, and somehow, Gon was out of the hospital."
"Gon? Hospital?"
"You haven't watched the news? There was an Ant Hunt couple months ago. Gon and Killua participated in the hunt, and Gon ended up nearly dying. I was certain Killua would try to use Alluka to heal Gon and saw it as my chance, but like I said, your friend intervened."
"Kagome did?"
That was a surprise. Of course, Gon nearly dying was big news for him (that plus the Ant Hunt happening, not that he found it particularly interesting), but the fact that Kagome knew Gon and Killua was unexpected. Kagome never told him of her travels, except the night when she got drunk and slipped a little bit about Kurapika. And although he was glad to hear this new piece of information, it bothered him a little that Illumi had been keeping an eye on her for longer than he thought.
"No wonder you seemed angry when you saw her. She ruined your plan, didn't she?"
"…I was just surprised that you brought her here. That's all."
Liar. Hisoka grinned as he took a sip of brandy from his glass. There was no doubt that Kagome had Illumi frustrated with whatever she did in the hospital with Gon. He didn't know what exactly it meant when Illumi said, "she intervened," but he was certain it involved the mysterious light he saw long, long time ago when she healed her bleeding stomach.
"Anyways, what do you want me to do?"
"Killua has taken Alluka with him by threatening my mother's life with his wish."
"Then isn't it a little too late to stop him?"
"No. Killua is smart, and that's why my family seems to think he has left town."
"You disagree?"
At Hisoka's question Illumi turned his empty eyes to meet the smiling gaze of the magician. Reaching into his shirt pocket, the assassin took out a photo of Killua and an unfamiliar child standing by the ice cream stand, ordering something. Hisoka saw familiar buildings in the background, including the coffee shop that he was sitting at to wait for Illumi.
"Killua is still in town at Alluka's request. But it won't be long before they leave, and that will make things much more complicated."
'"And you want to take care of it before it gets to that point."
Illumi didn't give him any answer, but Hisoka understood what his silence meant. As he stared into the dark city beyond the bar window, Hisoka wondered what happened to the little girl he sent away to get some ice cream.
Kagome was pissed. First he drags her here (she decided as long as she didn't remember her drunk night with him, she will stick with Hisoka kidnapped her story), dismisses her like she's some little kid, and now he's having a nice afternoon tea time with that freakish man.
Her fist slammed against the wooden bench she was sitting on, making the nearby pigeons to scurry away. The sun shone through the thin layer of scattering clouds as few birds wandered through the stretch of blue sky. She could hear the falling water drops of the nearby fountain, light footsteps of children running through the small park, giggling, and occasional worried shouts of the parents. The park couldn't get any more peaceful, and yet her tingling senses that drew her to this park in the first place told her otherwise. There was something that kept on pulling on the corner of her mind, and although her senses have dulled considerably compared to her old times, she could feel it.
Something was here. In this park.
It was probably something that she couldn't possibly detect by casting En, but it was her only option. Closing her eyes and talking a deep breath, she focused on the flow of her life energy that shrouded her small form. It was flowing without any restrictions, making it easier for her to feel and control them, but a bitter smile forced itself onto her lips, as she knew what it meant. But depressing thoughts were for another time, she guessed.
With a little effort she pushed out her nen outward as far as she could. Thankfully the park was rather small, allowing her to cover most grounds with her en. The little lights visualized in her mind as she felt for anything unusual in the different auras. Most of them were weak and frail, belonging to the common people. There were a couple that seemed to be refined and trained, but nothing seemed to be out of the ordinary.
'Is the range too limited?'
If that something was near the edge of the park, there was no way her en could detect them. Or it just meant en wasn't enough to sense it. She let out a frustrated sigh, but decided to give one more try before physically scouting the area. Focusing her mind on the already casted en, she let out a soft grunt as she pushed the limits of her nen. Her face paled from the quickly depleting energy, and just as she thought she couldn't hold this out any longer, she felt a familiar nen tugging at her just at the edge of her nen. The silvery purple light that popped into her radar was too unique and powerful for her to miss it.
"Killua?"
With a quick breath, she receded her nen and staggered up from the bench. Why was Killua here, of all places? Like she suspected, his location had been just out of the reach of her en the first time she casted it, but she doubted he was the source of her irritation. Nevertheless, it had been a while since she saw the little Hunter, and she shoved away a nagging feeling while letting her excitement take over for now.
"I guess I could say hi."
With a little smile, Kagome steadied herself before she quickly shot off to Killua's location, unaware of observing golden eyes.
Hi! I'm sorry if I freaked anyone out last chapter, but at least it's not Killua who Illumi wants to kill, right?
The next time I update might be early January, and after that my school starts again so I'm not sure about how the updates will go,
but for the time being I have an exciting (maybe not) news for you guys!
If you could tell me a theme/mini-story that you would like to read about, I'll select some and write short oneshots/drabbles about it!
Of course, it will be within the Perfect Competence universe, but the characters involved doesn't have to be Kagome and/or Hisoka.
Shoot me with your ideas! :)
