After delivering a healthy baby boy, Meredith laid in a hospital room with Derek and Lexie by her side.
"Sorry I'm late." Mark let himself into the room and Lexie looked up with a smile. "Alright Little Grey, my turn."
"Mark, meet Bailey." Derek smiled as Lexie handed the baby off to Mark. "Your godson."
"Aw, come on, you didn't name him Mark?" He stared at the baby and Derek shook his head.
"No, I decided not to name him after the most egotistical man on the planet." Derek responded, causing everyone to laugh. "What's the E.R. looking like?"
"A mess. Better than before, but, a mess." Mark rocked the baby back and forth and paced around the small hospital room. "Looks nothing like this handsome little fellow here."
"Alright, Derek, Lexie, enough. Get out there and save some lives." Meredith shoved Derek off the bed and he pecked her lips. "I love you, now leave."
"Wanna tag team in the E.R.?" Lexie kissed the baby's face and looked up at Mark. "Like old times."
"Of course." Mark leaned over and kissed Lexie's forehead. "See ya in a bit."
"So." Meredith turned to Mark once Lexie shut the door behind her and Derek.
"So?" He sat down in the chair next to her bed. "Go ahead, grill me on Lexie or whatever."
"She is my sister." Meredith reminded and raised an eyebrow at him. "You're in this, for real? 100 percent?"
"500 percent. Come on Meredith, you know that." Mark spoke in a knowingly tone and Meredith tilted her head in agreeance. "Honestly, I'm surprised she was okay with jumping into this so suddenly. I mean sure, we talked about it in the past, but we never really planned for it to happen so soon."
"Well, you guys were gonna have a kid together. I mean, you're clearly serious." She sat up in the bed. "Losing the baby put a lot on Lexie. She realized how much that baby meant to her and that she's really in this for the long haul. She loves you. She isn't going anywhere."
"You're right. A little reminder is nice every once in awhile." Mark stood up and placed the baby back into Meredith's arms. "I love her, now, and forever."
"Good. I trust you to take good care of her." Meredith smiled as Mark kissed her cheek.
"Congrats, sis. I'll see ya later." Mark smiled and waved one last time from the door before backing out of the room.
"There you are." Lexie smiled at Mark from across the E.R. He stood leaning against a wall with his arms crossed. "What?"
"Just admiring your beauty and thinking about how much I love you." Mark broke his gaze and walked toward his fiance.
"Shut up." She shoved him and laughed lightly at him. "We have work to do."
"But you're so pretty and I love you." Mark spoke seriously and Lexie shook her head. "Alright, fine."
"Lives to save, honey." She tapped his nose and handed him some charts. "Beds 3 and 6 need some quick stitches. When you're done, meet Derek and I in O.R. 2 for surgery."
"When did you become the boss around here?" Mark uncrossed his arms and waved them in the air.
"Hey, boards are right around the corner." Lexie reminded him and walked backwards before blowing a quick kiss. "I love you, hurry and come meet me in surgery!"
"Yeah, yeah, yeah." He waved her off and turned to the hectic E.R. "Alright bed 3, I am Dr. Sloan and I will be taking care of those nasty cuts and burns you got there on your face."
"Oh, thank God, a real doctor." The middle aged man let out a sigh of relief and Mark furrowed his eyebrows. "All these unimportant young people kept shuffling in here asking me questions, but not helping me at all. Not that I would trust them to do anything."
"Well sir, those 'young people' you speak of are in fact doctors, and they are also students. They're learning and it's their job to ask you those questions so we can take perfect care of you." Mark sewed up the man's face and applied a bandage. "And, for the record, those young doctors are more than qualified to help you out the same way I just did."
Mark moved onto the next bed and made sure everything was under control before going up and joining Lexie and Derek in surgery.
"You're an amazing doctor and an even better surgeon." Mark stood behind Lexie and whispered into her ear, causing her to smile behind her scrub mask.
"Thank you." She blushed slightly and Mark sat down on the stool near the patient's arm.
"Okay, Mark. I just need you to repair the damaged nerves for me." Derek looked over to Mark and he nodded his head at him. "Lexie, you ready for your boards?"
"I think so. Every surgery makes me feel closer to being a surgeon." Lexie smiled as she continued helping Derek fix the bleeder.
"Well Lexie, you are a surgeon." Derek reminded her and stepped back from the brain. "In fact, why don't we switch places?"
"Alright." She smiled giddily and switched spots with him.

A few hours later, the surgery ended and Lexie walked out victoriously with Mark by her side.
"So, we have approximately 3 hours before our shifts are supposed to start." Lexie smiled and Mark rose his eyebrows. "On call room?"
"Nap time?" Mark questioned as they walked out of the scrub room.
"Shut up." Lexie shoved him and opened the door to the nearest on call room. "If that's really what you want."
"No, let's um, do that other thing." Mark kissed her and she started to smile.
"Wait, I need to talk first." She pulled away from him and he shook his head. "It's important."
"We just got engaged. This is important." He kissed down her neck and reached for the hem of her pants. "Tell me after."
"We have all the time in the world to do that." Lexie laughed and fell down on the bed behind her. "We aren't on call for another three hours. Give me your pager."
"Fine." He sat down next to her and placed it in her hands. "I love you so much."
"I know you do. You've made that very clear over the past several hours." She smiled and interlaced their fingers. "I wanna try to have a baby again."
"Are you serious?" Mark rose his eyebrows and she nodded her head between leaning in and kissing him.
"I love you so much, and I want this." Lexie pulled Mark down on top of herself and laid back. "Let's do this."
"Right, right now?" He continued to look at her strangely and she nodded her head. "Shouldn't we talk about this a little more?"
"Why not? I'm ovulating right now." She placed her hand around the back of his neck and kissed him passionately.
"Lexie, this is great. I'm so happy, but." Mark rolled off her and laid on his side, facing her. "Let's not forget where you were at 24 hours ago."
"I know. I know how I felt two days ago, and yeah, even one day ago." She let out a sigh and caressed his face. "James is gone. I've accepted that. He's gone, and we can't change that. I'm still mourning him, I'll always mourn him. He's my son, and I love him. But Mark, what we have is so great. And we can make our life even greater by bringing something so joyful into the world."
"I just don't want to see you move too fast and get hurt." Mark stroked her arm and she looked down. "You're sure you want this?"
"Positive." Lexie looked back up at him with a beaming smile and pecked his lips.
"Let's do this." Mark rolled back on top of her and smiled through the kiss.
