Tamsin's POV
I reach the place and am not disappointed. The Sage's place is a decently sized castle like palace in the middle of the woods. Of course it had to have the giant walls surrounding it too, right? I sigh and look around until I find a large tree that overlooks the wall. I run back to my truck and grab some rope and then back to the tree.
Once up in the tree I can see maybe four guards at the front, though there are probably much more inside. I need a game plan. Think Tamsin! I secure the rope on a thick branch of the tree and throw the rest of the rope over the other side of the wall. Okay let's try to be stealthy as possible and if all else fails I'll just bust in throwing punches and kicks.
It's not much of a plan, but it doesn't have to be perfect. It just has to get Bo out of here safely. With that I manage to position myself on top of the wall and then start to scale down the wall. Thankfully the rope goes down far enough that when I let go I didn't break anything. I run to a bunch of trees to the right of the front of the castle and get a text right as I settle in their shadows.
I pull out my phone. It's from Dyson. "5 minutes away. Brought back up just in case." Thank god! Back up will be nice. I shoot him a text back. "Castle. Going in." I don't wait for a reply before putting my phone away.
Okay going head on? I could easily take on the four in the front, but I want to draw as little attention to myself. I look down the side of the building, but there is only a bunch of trees. Trees! I maneuver through until I am under the taller of the bunch and start to climb. Towards the top of the tree there in a stone level jutting out of the building I assume that goes all the way around.
I accomplish getting myself on to the building. With my body pressed to the wall I move along the outer edge trying to find a window or balcony to enter through. Just as luck would have it I am met with a window just big enough for me to slip through, if it was open. My mind instantly goes to the little thief back at the Dal. This is so Kenzi's style.
The cold air isn't helping as I try to get the window unlocked, which is proving to be quite difficult while standing on the edge of a building high off the ground. After a few more second the window opens with a click. I smile prideful to myself as I quickly but quietly jump through the window and take in my surroundings.
It's most likely the third floor. The hallways are long and dark with only a few doors here and there. Dark is good. I can work with dark, but nowhere to hide, yea that might prove to be a problem at some point. I make my way down one of the hallways checking each door until finally I find one. Once inside, I turn the lights on and am grateful when it's a library of some sort.
There is a large oval desk in the middle of the room that is covered in scrolls and other loose papers. I search through, but find nothing exactly useful. There has to be a blueprint around here, damn it! I race around the room in frustration. Damn it, I don't have time for this! Just gonna have to wing it this time.
I race back down the hallway until I find a stairwell. Descend two steps at a time, but making as little as no sound as all. As I reach the ground floor I am met face to face with three large guards. Shit! I quickly side step them to create some space. I pull out a dagger and thrust it in between the first guy's ribs, before swiftly shoving him off and on to the floor.
The second guard's fist connects with my face as I am distracted by the last guard who pulls out a long blade. I stumble, but quickly recover dodging his next swing, grabbing his arm and dislocating it from the socket. He bellows out in pain.
Right as the third guard advances I turn and try to side step him, but am not quick enough. His knife cuts through my jacket sleeve and into my bicep. A low growl falls from my mouth. I throw all my weight behind a jaw-breaking punch to the man's face. He falls backwards against the stone wall. I take a step towards him when I'm tackled to the ground by the guard with the dislocated shoulder. He doesn't hold in his scream from the pain. We struggle on the ground trying to get back on our feet when the other guy kicks me square in the ribs. I fall back to the ground and try to catch my breath. I lose control the exact moment I feel the man's hand entangle itself in my hair and yank me up to stand. I let the shadows fall across my face as I look into his now fearful eyes. He crumples to the ground within seconds, as does the second man.
"Never. Touch. My. Hair." I snarl right before they fall into unconsciousness. I dust myself off and grab the sword that had been knocked out of the guard's hand during the fight. Not like the swords in Vahalla, but it will do.
With a tight grip on the hilt of the sword, I continue further into the castle.
Bo's POV
I wake with a jolt when I heard a loud noise like a gunshot. There was a lot of yelling and the sound of people running outside me cell door. What the hell is going on? Another loud noise echoes through. That was definitely a gunshot. The first thing that my still groggy mind could come up with is Tamsin. Tamsin!
I struggle to get to my feet and move to go towards the door when it swings open. My heart sinks at the sight of Roko and not the blonde I am so eager to see. The Sage's eyes are burning with fury even in the dark as he rushes forward and drags me out of the cell and down the hall. I try to look behind us, but I see nothing due to Roko pushing me into the same big cluttered room we had been in the time before.
I sit in a chair as he paces angrily. I catch bit and pieces about failing and not expecting this as he mutters to himself under his breath.
"Something wrong?" I watch as he furiously turns to me with a finger pointed in my direction.
"Shut up! I should have disposed of you the minute you refused me Succubus!" I laugh just to get under his skin, causing him to scream with rage.
"Well I guess I could always kill you in front of your troublemaking girlfriend." My heart jumps at the mention of Tamsin and I can't help but look towards the door.
But the next thing I know I can barely breathe. I fall to the floor as I grab at my throat. It feels as if someone is crushing my airway. What the fuck? When I meet Roko's eyes I can tell by the sick and twisted look in his eyes as he watches me frantically trying to breathe that it is his doing. He holds out his hand in my direction as he turns a little to search through a table full of glass bottles and containers of God knows what.
My vision starts to blur and fade in and out when he turns back around right hand still stretched towards me and the other holding a vile of something red. The last thing I see is the smug smirk on his face and a loud thud outside the door.
