A/N: jfagkhfghdvhkjshuseuhk I am sooooooooooo sorry.

I've been through a lot in the past few months and I've been too drained to write.

This will be VERY out of character and I'm sorry. I have to write this through something so I can let it go.

Kid will be very different from how I usually write him.

THIS IS AN AU ENTRY IN THE SHORT STORIES OF LOVE SERIES. DON'T LIKE? DON'T READ.

Thank you.

'And another one gone,' Chrona thought to herself as her chest heaved with the heaviest sobs she had ever let out.

Bzzzt. The small device that lay in the crying girl's hand went off. She glanced at the screen and saw that the name 'Death the Kid' was lighting up the screen.

'Another text message? Why can't he just be done already?' Bzzzt 'Two messages...' Bzzzt 'Three...' she waited for a moment but a fourth message never came.

Kid and Chrona had been fighting. Kid was drunk and Chrona had tried to tell him to leave her alone but Kid wouldn't listen. He kept on asking what he had done when he knew damn well what he'd done. She eventually stopped fighting him and told him what was on her mind.

For four months, starting in August, Kid and Chrona had been talking and flirting back and forth. They talked everyday and, while Chrona was fully aware of Kid's drug and alcohol use, she was able to overlook it because he could carry a serious conversation and he didn't only talk about his latest LSD trip or whatever he had chosen to do.

During this time of talking, and even long before, Chrona had been warned many, many times by Maka, Tsubaki, Liz, Patty, and even Soul to stay away from Kid. They all told her what a player he was and that he had a massive list of girls that he had gotten with. Maka had been with Kid before, though they never went all the way, and Maka tried her best to keep Chrona away from Kid. Chrona promised she would be careful but, the more she and Kid talked and the more they got to know each other, or, more like the more he got to know her (because he never really shared anything about his life), she must have developed feelings for him. She pushed them away and hid them, knowing that all they would do was get her hurt.

Around mid-October, Maka was showing that she was jealous of Chrona. Kid still talked to Maka but he was talking to Chrona, too and Maka made it clear that she would rather have Chrona not talk to Kid. Chrona confronted Maka about it but Maka denied it, claiming that she didn't care who Chrona talked to.

That same day, Chrona told Kid that she would have to stop talking to him. She did it over text message, rude, yes, and it didn't work anyway. She and Kid talked the rest of the day and the next day.

The next week, something hit Kid and he brought it up when Chrona had thought that they both had just brushed it off.

"I just didn't know how to go about it," Chrona started her reply, "And I like being your friend and talking to you. And you listen and I appreciate it more than you know. It's just, I've gotten so used to you and you're leaving this year. My real motive was to try to put a little bit of distance in between us so I could learn to live without you. You listen, you're not as judgmental as everyone else, and you help, and all this other stuff that really helps. I'm sorry."

"Then why?" he asked.

"Why what?" there were a lot of things to question from her last message and she wasn't sure which one he was asking about.

"Why'd you wanna not talk?"

"I told you already: I wanted to put a little bit of distance in between us because you're leaving."

"Why does that matter?"

"I'm too used to you." Chrona admitted.

"I'll be here in spirit." she couldn't help but giggle a little. Kid made it sound like he was dying, which he wasn't.

"It's not the same. I hate doing it this early..."

"I get it." "Whelp." "Toodles." three consecutive messages, breaking up the sentence.

Her heart jumped into her throat and tears came to her eyes, "Hey, no." she sent back.

"Hmm?" his favorite way to say 'What?"

"I take it back. I want to keep talking to you."

"I accept that."

"As an apology?" she questioned.

"As an everything."

She breathed a sigh of relief and they continued through the day, chatting about anything and everything.

They never spoke of it again until one night in December.

The two regularly play-flirted back and forth so Chrona didn't read into Kid's messages.

"I like your face." Chrona joked.

"I like you." he said simply.

She took it as a joke and responded,"I like you."

"Oh, boy." was Kid's reply.

"Good or bad 'oh, boy?'" she asked.

"Both?" another one of his favorite answers that Chrona never bothered to question.

"Oh, okay."

"Like, like like."

"Is that a question or a statement?" she asked.

"Statement."

"Okay."

"Yeah. So, what should we do about that?"

"About what?" at this point, Chrona was confused. Talking to Kid was sometimes a matter of saying random things and pretending to know what they were talking about.

"The liking."

"What about it? Did you think I was being, like, like like?" she asked, a knot forming in her stomach.

"Nevermind." he replied.

"No, tell me!"

"Nope!"

"Kid, I'm sorry. I'll stop being dumb. Please tell me."

"I like you." he said again.

"Okay. And

that's what we should do something about?"

"Yes."

"Like, you're being serious?" she asked, knowing he would play with her heart like that.

"Yep. Have for a while." he replied.

At this point, Chrona's heart was pounding in her chest and she could barely breathe.

Kid, Death the Kid, the same Kid who could get any girl if he just snapped his fingers, liked Chrona, a girl who was sure she'd never be crushed on.

"...So have I." she replied.

"Ooh, boy." he said again.

"Again, I don't know if that's good or bad."

"I'm happier it's returned like."

"Yeah, me too."

A/N: Okay, so this is what I'm writing right now and, as I'm sure anyone can tell, it's about what happened recently with a boy. Should I continue with this and go to the end or just let it die?

Meh, I guess we'll see.
