So here is the epilogue... I may make a alternate version of this just because... (Mostly because a friend of mine said she would kill me if I didn't)... But yeah... I had fun while writing this... But I had to rush through the last like five chapters when I wrote it to get it done within the deadline but... Hopefully it was alright.
Memento Mori: Ch. 13 "Garden of Everything"
3rd Person
"Today marks the 8th anniversary of the final battle in Tartarus…" A warm breeze passed over the Gekkoukan private garden. Cherry blossoms floated from the many sakura trees surrounding the lone weeping willow. "8 years ago, we traveled up the Tower of Demise during an hour no one knew existed." The female's confident voice faltered slightly, a memory of a time long ago causing her distress. "We were prepared to lose our lives… we did lose our lives but because of a miracle, we lived." The young adult blinked back stray tears, as did the rest of the group she was addressing. "However, this miracle cost the lives of two very special people…"
"Mitsuru… this doesn't need to be a speech. We were all there." The elder Akihiko placed a hand on the former student council president's shoulder; she nodded, accepting the comforting grasp. The former boxing captain's eyes swept over the group, "well, maybe not all of us…." Several small children chased each other around the trees, oblivious of the melancholy moment. "Aya's growing well, since she's the oldest; make sure she sets a good example."
"Don't worry, Chidori makes sure she behaves…" Junpei wrapped his arms around the Lolita's waist. "I think Minako's twins are what you should worry about." Said woman smacked the once Magician, scolding him for calling her a bad mother. "I'm kidding, seriously though… How's being pregnant Yuka-Tan?"
Yukari glanced up from her swollen belly to watch the group. "Painful sometimes but I know it'll be worth it." She gazed around the group, her brown eyes falling on the twin androids. "What about you Aigis… I haven't seen you or Metis in a while…?"
"We have been working with the Kirijo Group to prevent the outbreak of shadows. Our older sister Labrys is currently monitoring for Apathy Syndrome." The mechanical ladies looked just like they had eight years ago, mostly due to their background. Aigis' blue gaze settled on a small child, curiosity clearly on its face as he watched the other children. Cat ears and fluffy tail twitching with each movement of sapphire eyes; "Our child unit appears to be functioning normally."
Chidori's soft voice spoke up in response. "Yes, Cloud has taken a liking to Koromaru and gives Aya a companion." Eyes traveled to the elderly dog, the shiba barked happily and continued to amuse the small kids. The Lolita nodded gratefully as Fuuka handed her a homemade cup of tea; "Arigato, Fuuka-San." Over the years, the green haired girl has learned many things about cooking. She smiled as the former member of Strega took a sip, satisfaction clear in her eyes; "As wonderful as always."
"The only reason it as good as it is, is because Shinjiro-Sempai helped me learn." The once support-user smiled fondly at the blushing male. A light laugh escaped the small group, the wielder of Juno's eyes landed on a teenage boy with crystal blue eyes. "You're really quiet today Pharos. Is everything alright?" Her soft, caring voice had all eyes on the surviving memory.
"They are at peace… They're protecting us from what they can… even as we speak." A chain of sighs were released, Pharos, not an original part of this world still shared a connection to his fallen predecessors and the shadows. Despite the Tartarus sacrifice, shadows still lurked and prayed on the weak minded. The Inaba serial murders were proof of that. "How is your cousin, Takeba-San?" The pregnant woman shook her head and pointed to Minako, saying to ask her.
The alternate seal jumped slightly in surprise, blush lighting up her cheeks. "Yosuke…? He's doing fine… Yukari and I will be meeting up with him and Yu when we leave."
"They are good people… when Labrys refused her true origins; they helped her realize the truth." Aigis stated, two of the three eldest nodded in agreement. Metis lowered her gaze, muttering sorry she couldn't help with that case. "You were needed elsewhere Metis… Do not worry sister." The elder android comforted, the weapons with a heart shared a small nod. Their attention shifted back to the remaining S.E.E.S group. "How is Nanako, Ken-Kun? I heard she was part of the Inaba shadow case… how did she respond to your shadow incident?"
The brunette teen glanced up from his bento box lunch. "She's doing fine, happy to see her 'brother' again. Yu-Sempai said she doesn't remember the TV world, so I shouldn't mention shadows to her yet." He looked up at the clock; few minutes remained before afternoon classes started. "Pharos and I should be going. Lunch's almost over." The two teens got up and started for the Gekkoukan High school building, biding farewells as they left.
"They're 3rd years right?" Junpei asked, "This is their last year in high school."
Mitsuru nodded with pride. "Yes, I've heard Amada had become the student council president this year." Her voice held pride for the boy and the familiar title. "Pharos is part of the art club as well as several others." Silence overtook the group again as they reminisced about the passing years. "I believe it's time for Akihiko and I to depart. We have an appointment to meet with Naoto Shirogane and discuss information concerning shadows."
"I guess it wouldn't hurt to end our get together early." Yukari yawned as she tried stretching her sore muscles. "Besides, I think this kids had enough excitement with how much its kicking." A laugh and hug was shared between the remaining team. "Come on Minako-Chan, we need to find those two trouble makers." They waved goodbye as they ushered two small children out the main gate as they left. The two Senpai's followed shortly after.
"Well, guess we'll be seeing you Fuuka, Shinjiro-Senpai." Junpei said his goodbyes as Chidori called over their hyperactive daughter, the child anti-shadow weapon and Koromaru. "See you later as well Ai-Chan and Me-Chan." The twins waved and spoke their farewells to the departing couple.
The last four members of S.E.E.S stayed a while longer, chatting about their life since they last spoke. The cherry trees losing some petals to the gentle spring breeze; the pink petals danced in the wind, some getting caught in the sacred willow tree. The persimmon tree full of memories had been carefully moved to the garden as well when the school board tried to cut it down. The garden stays safe under the Kirijo Group's protection. "I think we should depart for the laboratory now… Labrys is probably worried." Metis spoke her concern for the pale blue-haired girl. Nodding in agreement, Aigis proceeded to stand from her seat on one of the randomly placed benches.
The last two offered to walk to the gate with them before parting ways. The twins walked to the gate as Shinjiro and Fuuka followed. The elder male stopped to glance back at the girl he had taught. Her hand clasped together before her face with her head bowed slightly, a gesture of praying. "Fuuka, what are you doing?"
The young adult lifted her face and smiled sadly. "I'm wishing Minato-Kun and Ryoji-Kun happiness in the afterlife." This place was so much more now than a garden of memories, it held dreams and wishes, the joy and sorrow of it sacred treasures and the remnants of life within the Dark Hour. A small sign above the gate named this place a Garden of Everything; and it truly was just that. Below the title was a Latin phrase, one of great meaning and one to always be remembered.
