Sooooooooooo yeah I'm back? I mean not really I just got the last chapter here. Life has been pretty shitballs lately because I've just been really depressed and my best friend hates me and yeah I got anxiety up the wahoo like all the time. I was reading through this story and I felt really bad that I left it at that cliffhanger so I finished this bitch once and for all.
I guess a slight trigger warning for hospital stuff? Nothing gory but if you hate hospitals then sorry.
The blonde's lips twitched and he looked down at the redhead's lips, his mind replaying the event at Kairi's party. He licked his lips and was about to lean forward when Axel's cellphone went off.
Axel frowned and sighed. "Someone better be dead, I swear to God…"
He picked up the phone. "Hello?"
Roxas watched Axel's face turn pale, and the blonde's heart dropped to his stomach. He furrowed his brows and poked Axel's forearm. What? he mouthed.
Axel gulped and talked to the person on the other side of the phone, his responses all one-worded and nervous. "Okay. Yeah. Thanks. We'll... we'll be there soon." He hung up and ran his hand through his hair and hunched over, burying his face in his hands.
Roxas hesitantly put his hand on Axel's shoulder. "Axel? What is it? What happened? Where are we going?"
The redhead took a deep breath. "Sora's… on his way to the hospital. We have to go."
Roxas's mouth dropped. "The hospital?! What the fuck is he doing at the hospital?"
Axel stood up and gathered his clothing, still slightly bloody. "He… jesus, he fell down a fucking flight of stairs!"
The blonde watched his older friend get dressed in shock. "Sora…"
Riku had never been in an ambulance before, but it was nerve wracking to say the least. His heart hadn't stopped racing since he first saw Sora tripping and-
He cringed. His friend sat next to him, immobile and unconscious on the bed. They had IVs in him and something helping him breathe and something around his fucking broken neck… Riku's heart clenched. God, this is all my fault. This is all my fucking fault. He wished he could at least hold the boy's hand, but the nasty fracture in Sora's arm prevented him from that. Purple and blue marks were already present on his body, littering his face the most. Riku clenched his fists to prevent an onslaught of what he was sure were big, messy tears. Sora, you better fucking live so I can make this right.
As they pulled up to the hospital, Riku's cell phone rang. He answered the call while they opened the doors and lead Sora out, still unconscious on his gurney, Riku close behind.
"Hello?"
"Riku!" Zack's worry laden voice yelled into the speaker. "Where are you guys?"
Riku jogged to catch up with the EMTs. "We just got to the hospital. We're going to the ER right now."
Zack sighed and Riku heard feminine sniffles in the background. "Thanks, Riku. We owe you big time. I'm glad you were there when it happened."
Riku's heart panged. "Yeah. See you soon."
Zack and Aerith arrived shortly before Roxas and Axel did, though the younger two had to wait in the waiting room. Sora's parents crumpled at the sight of their broken son, breathing with the assistance of a machine. Aerith buried her face in her delicate hands, a fresh round of tears making their way into her eyes. Her husband put a strong arm around her and asked the doctor what the diagnosis was. Riku closed his eyes and tried to block it out, the words fractured C6 and C7 and broken ulna and possible internalized bleeding making him feel sick. Zack and Aerith listened to the list with heavy hearts and pained expressions. The doctor continued talking about the list of treatments and what procedures needed to be done, offering her condolences and finally leaving the room. Zack wrapped both arms around his blubbering wife and sighed, leaving the three (no, four) in relative silence.
An hour or two later, Roxas and Axel were finally allowed in the room to see Sora. If Riku thought it was cramped with four people, now they had six. Roxas' breath hitched when he saw the bruised boy and he leaned in to press his face against Axel's chest. The redhead smoothed his hand against Roxas' back, tears welling up in his green eyes. "What's the diagnosis?"
Zack cleared his throat. "Broken neck. Broken arm. Concussion. Internalized bleeding."
Roxas choked back a sob and Axel closed his eyes. "Jesus christ," he murmured.
They stayed for another ten or so minutes, the room heavy and quiet.
Riku didn't know how much time had passed, with Roxas and Axel having come and looked at Sora hours ago. His stomach growled and he offered to grab the three of them some vending machine sandwiches, but that too had been well over an hour ago. The three sat there, Zack reading the newspaper, Aerith on her phone, and Riku staring at the sleeping boy.
Aerith cleared her throat. "Riku, it's well past eight o'clock. We really appreciate all you've done, but you've been here for nearly seven hours. Sora's surgery isn't scheduled until tomorrow. You can go home if you wish. You look exhausted."
Riku sighed and nodded, the emotional wear of the day hitting him hard. "Yeah. Let me know if… anything changes."
Sora's parents nodded at him and smiled, the expression sad and worn out. As Riku got up and headed towards the curtain, a whispered "wait" filled the small room.
The silver haired teen whipped his head around and looked towards Sora, the boy's blue eyes finally cracking open. They were bloodshot, but open nonetheless.
Riku's whisper of "Sora…" was overpowered by Sora's parents yelps of joy, but the brown-haired boy heard. He smiled weakly and looked at each of them.
"What happened?" His voice sounded broken and dry.
Zack and Aerith smiled sadly down at him. "You fell down the stairs at Riku's house, sweetie. Remember?"
Sora turned to Riku and squinted in thought. "No… I don't remember. The last thing I remember was… school." Sora looked around the room, frowning when he couldn't move his neck. "What happened? Why can't I move my neck?"
His parents explained his injuries while Sora and Riku looked at each other. He doesn't remember. Is this how I'm supposed to redeem myself? By pretending this never happened? Riku smiled sheepishly and ran his hand through his hair, breaking the intense eye contact. Sora continued to ask questions, his parents answering them as best they could.
"Vanitas will be by tomorrow, too. His car broke down, so he's stuck at the house. One of us will go home tonight and we'll be back tomorrow before your surgery."
Riku cleared his throat. "Yeah, I'm gonna head out now too. I'm probably gonna skip tomorrow, so… I'll be by sometime."
Sora gave him a genuine smile and Riku's heart clenched at the sincerity. "Thanks, Riku. I owe you my life."
Riku nodded and waved goodbye, yanking open the curtain and leaving the room.
Sora's recovery was slow at best, with surgery followed by weeks of physical therapy. He was going to have a neck brace for a couple of months, and a cast on his arm for another month at least. His concussion healed after the first couple of weeks, with the majority of it companioned with "I'm so bored!" Riku visited every day after school, completing his own homework in the cramped hospital room while Sora slept or watched television.
Two weeks after the incident, Sora piped up. He muted the TV and looked over at his best friend.
"I remember. I remember what happened."
Riku went pale and looked up at the brown-haired teen. "...How long have you remembered?"
Sora's eyebrows furrowed. "A few days. We… slept together. And then I… ran away, and tripped down the stairs. Right? It's a little fuzzy, but I remember running out the door. I can fill in the blanks from there."
Riku looked down at his lap. "Yeah. You got it."
Sora continued to frown. "Why didn't you tell me?"
The silver haired teen clenched his fists. "Because you ran away, Sora. I figured this was my chance to… to forget it ever happened. You clearly wanted to, so… I just let it go."
Sora scoffed. "I didn't want to forget it happened. I just felt so guilty, I mean I slept with my straight taken best friend. Who is going to have a kid soon!"
The older boy looked up into his friend's eyes. "I broke up with Kairi."
Sora blinked and tried to ignore the relief filling his chest. "You… did?"
Riku nodded. "I told her I just wasn't ready, and there was too much going on in my life what with you in the hospital. I wasn't ready for that kind of relationship yet. I didn't have the time."
The younger boy continued to stare in shock. "Oh."
The silver haired boy gave a half-assed smile. "Yeah. Plus, between you and me, I do not want a kid anytime soon. Or ever. Also might not be as straight as I thought," he smirked.
Sora's cheeks flushed. "Don't say stuff like that," he mumbled. "That's so embarrassing."
Riku scratched his head. "Sorry."
The two sat there, the sounds of machines and other patients filling the silence.
"Do you love me, Riku?"
Riku's mouth fell open. That came out of nowhere. "I-I guess."
Sora squinted and crossed his arms, his bulky cast in the way. "You guess?"
The silver haired boy frowned. "Okay, yes. I love you. A lot."
Sora grinned. "Good." He turned the TV volume back up and continued watching the food channel. Riku scoffed and reached over to steal the remote.
"Say it back, idiot!"
Sora attempted to nab the remote back to no avail. "No way! What am I, a girl?"
Riku huffed and sat up. "I'm gonna go get a soda. You get the remote back when you apologize." He turned around and grinned, heading towards the curtain.
"Okay! Come on, 'Ku! I'm sorry! I love you, too! Come on!"
Upon returning to school, Sora noticed he had missed quite a few things. Riku filled him in as best he could.
Sora looked over at Aqua and Terra. "So, it's definitely his? And they're definitely together now?"
Riku nodded and shoved his hands in his pocket. "Yeah. Vanitas isn't too happy. But I think he has his eye on someone else."
Sora perked up. "Really? Who?"
Riku smirked and elbowed Sora, pointing towards the cafeteria where Vanitas had Kairi pinned in a corner, flirting shamelessly.
Sora's jaw dropped. "Seriously? Kairi?!"
The silver haired teen shrugged. "If it works, then go for it, you know?"
Sora looked up at his boyfriend. "You're not mad?"
Riku smiled and dropped his hand to put it around Sora. "I think I'll get over it."
The younger teen flushed but relaxed into the touch anyway. "How's Roxas?"
Riku started walking towards class, steering his boyfriend with him. People stared but said nothing. "He's… better, I guess. Though if you want an update on him, you'd best ask him or Axel."
"Axel?" Sora questioned.
Riku sighed. "You've missed a lot. Just head to class and don't worry about it. And be careful of your neck brace."
Sora pushed Riku away playfully and blushed. "Thanks, mom." He watched the older boy grin and salute before heading towards his own class. Sora walked into his first block class, immediately being bombarded by concerned classmates. "What happened?" was asked at least 20 times that day. He finally sat down and noticed Roxas walk in, smiling at his crippled friend.
"Glad to see you up and walking," Roxas beamed. "You really scared us, you know."
"Trust me," Sora said. "The image of my mother crying countless times scarred me enough."
As they pulled out materials for class, Sora leaned in and whispered, "So, what's up with you and Axel? Riku told me to ask you myself."
Roxas flushed and gripped his pencil. "I broke up with Xion."
Sora sympathetically pat him on the back. "Why?"
The blonde fidgeted. "She saw me and Axel kiss at Kairi's party last month. She waited for me to come to her, and when I told her I might have feelings for him she told me she knew. She said she's not angry, but she looks… sad."
The brown haired teen nodded. "She'll be okay. So, are you and Axel…?"
Roxas blushed again. "I dunno. Yes? Maybe. It's complicated. We're not labelling it yet."
Sora grinned. "Well, I'm really happy for you guys."
The blonde grinned as well. "I could say the same for you."
One year later
Summer had hit Destiny Islands once again, the residents locking themselves indoors and cranking the air conditioning. The ocean was churning away, girls were tanning in the sand, and in a little house right off the coast, two boys were in their air conditioned sanctuary. But this time, they weren't just talking.
Sora held Riku's head in its place between his thighs, combing his fingers through the silky silver hair while Riku sucked him off. Sora tensed and arched his back, the pleasure racing through him and settling at the base of his cock. The older boy mercilessly bobbed his head up and down, saliva dripping off his lips onto the red cock. He gripped Sora's hips and encouraged him to thrust.
The brunette moaned openly and thrust, feeling himself edge closer to the threshold of pleasure. He gripped the hair tightly and whimpered. "Riku, I'm coming, I'm-!" He arched his back as far as it could go and thrust once, twice and released all he had into the older boy's mouth. Riku stayed still and swallowed all he was given, releasing the brunette only when he was completely finished. He sat up and wiped his lips off discreetly, letting the boy catch his breath.
Sora stared up at his boyfriend in awe, never understanding how Riku was always so willing to suck him off. It turned on the brunette to no end knowing Riku wanted it as much as he did.
Riku smiled and leaned down to press a chaste kiss on Sora's lips. "We should head out soon. Your parents are expecting us to be back at your house within the hour."
Sora groaned and sat up, his back sticking to the sheets slightly. "Can we shower first? I don't want Cloud and Squall to smell the… sex on us."
Riku barked out a laugh. "You think they'll notice?"
The brunette sighed. "Yeah, definitely. Vanitas, too. Besides," Sora smirked. "I want to repay the favor." He slinked off the bed and walked towards the shower, discarding the rest of his clothing.
Riku grinned and removed his clothes. How could he say no to that?
Finally, a happy ending for our babies. Woot. Is anyone else really fucking pumped for 2.5 Remix? Because I am. I listened to the OST when writing this and my feels just skyrocketed.
Big big thank you to anyone who has reviewed/followed and I hope you all have a great year. See you when I see you.
