Disclaimer: I do not own Twilight or its characters. But I wish I did (T_T)!

Hey everyone, it's been a while since my last update and I'm sorry for that. To make up for it I will try my absolute best to make this chapter interesting and a bit longer than the others, if at all possible. I hope you enjoy it : )!

A Wolf's Love

Chapter 4: Meeting New People

(Terrie's POV)

After a few hours' sleep, I decided that it was time to get up and move out. I may not have anywhere to go but that didn't mean I couldn't go site seeing like I had always wanted. Being stuck in an orphanage in one spot for numerous years with a million other children made me want, made me wish, for the day I could get out of there and explore the sites everyone saw or read in books. I have always liked to travel, learning new things about legends, relics, and monuments. It was one of my favorite things growing up with my parents. A hobby per say.

My parents were the type to just appear at my bedroom door one day every few weeks saying they were going to take me to see something cool. I would become so full of joy that my face couldn't contain my huge smile. They took me to see the pyramids in Egypt one time. They were amazing to say the least. The sheer size of them was enough for my little 8 year old mind alone. I wished to visit more places but when my parents died I was shoved into 'that place' and never allowed to leave unless escorted out by a new family. It was supposed to be a safe and caring place for parentless children. What complete and utter bullshit! Under that fake façade was a prison. Kids barely got enough food to survive off of let alone a nice place to sleep. We were treated like cattle by those monsters we called care takers. Everyone was bathed and cleaned up properly if a new customer came looking to adopt. Sadly, not many ever got out of there. Not unless you died, were old enough to leave, or ran away. So I ran. I couldn't take living there, being mistreated by those asshats. And you know what? That was the best damn idea I have ever made.

I walked out of the cave, stretching along the way, as I made my way over to the little stream flowing nearby. I drank greedily from the water before I deemed myself full and decided to go hunt for something to eat. This forest didn't seem to have a variation of animals to choose from so I decided to hunt down a deer. I ran for a few miles before I came across a clearing containing a heard in the center.

I lowered my body till my belly just barely grazed the ground. I watched and waited behind some bushes for the right moment to spring out at the weakest of the bunch. A male buck was limping a little behind the rest of the group. That was my target and in that moment, it was my chance. So I lunged forward with immense speed, landing right on the deer's back. I sunk my thick sharp claws into the hide of its body to hold onto as it kept struggling. Its meager size of around 4 foot could not compare to my bulking size of around 5 or 6. The outcome: I won and he lost. But hey, at least I had breakfast.

I picked up the fallen buck by its neck and drug it back into the safety of the tree line. There was no telling what other meat eaters were out in this forest so I knew I had to eat it fast or face the trouble of a useless fight. I had begun to fill myself with my kill when the leaves next to me started to shuffle. The ground was shaking as well. Like something was running this way. No, some things! I stood crouched over my winnings waiting for whatever it was to appear.

What came out, I did NOT expect. A pack of three huge male wolves! And not just any wolves, my kind of wolves. This was fucking crazy. They were way bigger than me but that wasn't what shocked me. The fact that there were others like me out there in this jacked up world is what got me. I always thought I was the only one; a lone freak in a world of normal human beings. But here I am facing the satisfying truth that I am not alone. I never was.

Finding out there was more like me didn't halt my resolve though. There was no way I would give over my food or do anything else for that matter. They were strangers. Big male strangers that could possibly take me off somewhere and kill me, or rape me then kill me, or whatever strange male wolves do. They might just want to get me off of their territory. I wasn't going to put up with it but I also couldn't run and leave my catch here. I worked hard for it and haven't eating in a long while. I may be stubborn but I'm no fool either. I just needed a plan.

I was brought out of my thoughts when one of them, a brownish gray wolf, shifted slightly to the left of me. I pulled my lip back to reveal my somewhat bloody teeth. A deep guttural growl reverberated from deep within my chest and out of my muzzle. I crouched even more to protect my kill and myself from any attacks to come. If a fight is what they want I'll gladly give it to them. I mean I'm not the best fighter out there but I have been in this form for most of my life so I should be at least able to keep up with them in order to fend them off for a while.

A deadly silence engulfed us as we stared at one another. My stunning crystal blue eyes, my best feature I thought, were staring back and into the eyes of ever one of the three males. I would not give in to them and they knew by the look I was giving them. But what I saw was shock, caution, and excitement. They actually seemed happy to see me but shocked. That made me even more suspicious about their intentions. I didn't have long to ponder when the big completely black one started to advance toward me. I growled menacingly back at him, a warning to leave me alone.

That didn't even seem to affect him. He just kept walking until he was a few steps away from me. Then he shifted into his human form. And wow, did I not want to see his willis and doodle-berries. I mean come on! Have some pride as a man to cover up for a girl. I couldn't close my eyes just in case the wolves were to attack, so I shifted them to the other wolves while the man put his cut offs on. The two shifted wolves still seemed to be eyeing me up. It was uncomfortable to say the least but as long as they didn't move in to fight I was fine with how the situation turned out. At the sound of a throat being cleared, every pair of eyes turned on the man.

"My name is Sam Uley. We are the protectors of this land. Who are you and where did you come from?" asked the man. Confidence and power just seemed to flow from him. He had short cropped black hair with a very toned tan-ish brown body and a tribal tattoo on his right arm. He dripped with the aura of alpha so I could only assume he was. I was never good with things like alpha, beta, and omega rankings so I avoided it as much as possible. If we were going by that then I was just some omega who wandered into their lands killing and eating their food. Sam caught my attention again as he gestured to the wolf to his left that had brown gray fur from earlier.

"This is Quil Ateara and the one next to him is Jacob Black. Can you change back for us? We would like to discuss some things with you. You don't need to worry, we won't hurt you either." He said with absolute trust in his eyes and truth in his words.

The only thing was that I didn't trust very easily because of all that I have been through. He was a stranger and a male on top of that. How could he just expect me to believe him? I just met him for god's sakes! I just shook my wolf head back and forth in reply to his question. I didn't even have any clothes to change into anyways. I have been running in this form for a while since I left the orphanage. I probably wouldn't even look healthy from the length of time I have been my wolf. I have been away from the necessities of a regular human; like razors, food, doctors, and civilization. I was definitely not changing back for them if that was what they expected. These guys must be stupid. Did they actually expect a complete stranger like me, a female no less, to trust them and change into my human form? I wouldn't do it.

"Well then will you at least follow us so we can get you looked at by our tribe vet? You're thin as a stick and we have clothes you can change into. We need to ask you questions and we would prefer not to use force." Sam looked like he was on the verge of taking me down and dragging me with him on his own just to get this over with. But I didn't trust them. So a fight it is.

He shifted back and lunged at me head on while his cronies came from either side of me. They thought they had me but I was a great deal smaller than them because I was female. That gave me a slight advantage against them in this fight. I twisted my body out of the way of their onslaught and jumped a good foot in the air and landed on my feet a little behind them. All while caring the carcass in my tight jaws. They looked a bit surprised by me fast reflexes and flexible body. Looks like 8 years of gymnastics paid off. I decided that three overgrown male wolves were too much to handle while holding extra weight so I took off to find a safe place to lay it. My coat kept catching in the branches of the trees and bushes as I ran. Mud flew everywhere from last night's rain, caking my paws. I knew they were following me and that they would catch me eventually but I was fast. So I knew I could manage a ways until my legs gave out. I was already injured in some area from previous tiffs with other animals and some run-ins with people. Let's just say my fur was not a pretty sight and my condition wasn't any better. That vet checkup was sounding great right about now.

I pushed my wolf faster trying to gain traction on the slippery muddy surface. But I was tackled from the side and hit with a lung collapsing force. My kill flew from my mouth and landed a few feet from where my own body had been flung. With the breath knocked out of me I was panting on the forest floor as the rest of the pack, it looked like, showed up and started to circle me.

I growled, hoping to sound as mad and menacing as possible but it came out as a strangled pitiful whimper mixed with a pained whine. They seemed to have noticed I was hurting pretty badly because they all changed back and started to lift me onto their shoulders to take me wherever. Either way I wanted my kill, I wanted to escape these people I didn't know, I wanted my body to stop hurting, and most of all…. I wanted my freedom back. My eyes were growing heavy and unconsciousness was closing in on me. But before my world fell into darkness I saw a blurry figure came towards my face and start to stroke my furry muzzle. In that moment I took comfort in his soft caresses, in his deep earthy scent, in his warm embrace, and in his presence. In that one single brief moment I had felt completely safe. Something I hadn't felt in a long long time.

But as soon as it came, it was gone. Sam, I think it was, had called my protector away, taking with him my only warm safe place. I don't know who it was but I would need to thank that person when I woke up. He would be my favorite person. I just knew it deep down. But little did I know how right I was.

"Paul came here for a minute! I need help with this area!" I heard; the words seeming to fade with the rest of the world and the presents of 'Paul'.

Stay tuned guys! There is a lot that needs to be said followed by a ton of drama, action, romance, and more. Will Terrie and Paul ever imprint? What will happen to her when the pack finds out her past? Will she ever trust again? You'll find out soon. Thank you for reading (^_-).

With care my lovelies,
