Spoilers for the season 5 finale. I am so happy I can hardly deal!

Hands, put your empty hands in mine

And scars, show me all the scars you hide
And hey, if your wings are broken
Please take mine so yours can open, too
'Cause I'm gonna stand by you
Oh, tears make kaleidoscopes in your eyes
And hurt, I know you're hurting, but so am I
And, love, if your wings are broken
Borrow mine 'til yours can open, too
'Cause I'm gonna stand by you
Even if we're breaking down, we can find a way to break through
Even if we can't find heaven, I'll walk through Hell with you
Love, you're not alone, 'cause I'm gonna stand by you
Even if we can't find heaven, I'm gonna stand by you
Even if we can't find heaven, I'll walk through Hell with you
Love, you're not alone, 'cause I'm gonna stand by you

The first time either Monroe or Rosalee seriously consider the possible ramifications of their love is when Rosalee meets Monroe's parents. They are angry. Rosalee is insulted. Monroe tries his best to keep the peace between the old ways and the new, but Rosalee storms out and goes to the Spice Shop. Then Nick comes, looking for help, when tensions are already impossibly high. After his parents and Nick leave, Monroe realizes he has to make a decision: who does he need more in his life? He's functioned fine without his parents since he went Weider; he doesn't think he can go back to life without Rosalee. He goes to her, and admits his naiveté; he thought that his parents would see how much he loved her, and they would understand. Rosalee seems ready to break it off, but Monroe won't have any of it.

He tells her, in no uncertain terms, that he chooses her.

They are happier together than they would ever be apart.

He will always stand by her.

Yeah, you're all I never knew I needed
And the heart—sometimes it's unclear why it's beating
And, love, if your wings are broken
We can brave through those emotions, too
'Cause I'm gonna stand by you
Oh, truth—I guess truth is what you believe in
And faith—I think faith is having a reason
And I know now, love, if your wings are broken
Borrow mine 'til yours can open, too
'Cause I'm gonna stand by you
Even if we're breaking down, we can find a way to break through
Even if we can't find heaven, I'll walk through Hell with you
Love, you're not alone, 'cause I'm gonna stand by you
Even if we can't find heaven, I'm gonna stand by you
Even if we can't find heaven, I'll walk through Hell with you
Love, you're not alone, 'cause I'm gonna stand by you

After they marry, there is a whirlwind of disaster trying to cure Nick, to return him to his Grimm state. They put off their honeymoon, and work feverishly. However, news is spreading. A brick through the window of the Spice Shop with a Wolfsangel. Then there was the burning Wolfsangel on their lawn. The dead fox over the Shop. Threatening calls. Finally, Monroe is kidnapped for daring to marry outside his species. He is defiant in the face of those who would separate them. Rosalee is inconsolable with the initial shock, but she wants to fight. She wants to find her husband. She kills for him, and it feels good. She comforts him through his post-traumatic stress. Their clock hasn't stopped; they still have a lot of ticking and tocking to do.

She tells him, in no uncertain terms, that she chooses him.

They are stronger together than they would ever be apart.

She will always stand by him.

I'll be your eyes 'til yours can shine
And I'll be your arms, I'll be your steady satellite
And when you can't rise, well, I'll crawl with you on hands and knees
'Cause I... I'm gonna stand by you

Rosalee cannot believe the little plus signs on the pregnancy tests; she never thought that she would be a mother, but she could not ask for a better partner to father her child. She tries to tell him, but they need to leave, now. Eve takes care of the Black Claw guys in the truck; Trubel takes Monroe and Rosalee out the back. Rosalee gets so caught up what's happening, with the HW headquarters being destroyed and needing to hide all the books and weapons in the shop, that she forgets what she wanted to tell Monroe until he says the word "baby". He says it in relation to a book he's holding, the Grimm lineage book, but she asks him what sort of world they are about to enter, should Black Claw succeed. When she asks, he thinks she means for her and for him and for the world at large; she does mean that, but she also means for the precious life growing within her. He promises her that nothing too awful will come as long as he's alive. He never says it explicitly, but she knows will fight to protect her; he already had, multiple times over. She should have told him right then, but she decides to see if a better moment presents itself. It doesn't.

Adalind gives up the location of Nick's bunker, but thankfully has Diana project herself to warn them; at least Adalind cares that much about the father of her son. Monroe and Rosalee split up from the others, trying to find a way out of the tunnels beneath. Monroe is a man on a mission, but Rosalee can't take it anymore; he can't not know.

"I'm pregnant," she blurts out. It's the first time she says it aloud. He turns.

"What did you say?" In her stress, it sounds accusatory. Rosalee apologizes for the inconvenient timing; she wanted a better time to tell him, but she couldn't keep it in anymore. She admits this is probably the last possible thing he wants to hear and worry about right now, but the look on his face, even before he speaks tells her a different story. He is thrilled.

"Are you kidding? It's the ONLY thing I want to hear," he tells her, tears in his eyes and his voice, "no matter WHAT'S is going on!" They embrace, and he holds her tightly as he cries into her hair; she cries, too, frightened, but relieved he took it well. Not that she was worried; he'd been hinting at babies for a long time. Provided they can both stay alive, they will be fine.

They tell each other, in no uncertain terms, that they choose each other, and they choose this child.

They are better together than they would ever be apart.

They will always stand together.

Even if we're breaking down, we can find a way to break through (come on)
Even if we can't find heaven, I'll walk through Hell with you
Love, you're not alone, 'cause I'm gonna stand by you
Even if we can't find heaven, I'm gonna stand by you
Even if we can't find heaven, I'll walk through Hell with you
Love, you're not alone, 'cause I'm gonna stand by you
Love, you're not alone
Oh, I'm gonna stand by you
(even if we can't find heaven, heaven, heaven)
Yeah, I'm gonna stand by you
