It has been about two days since the incident with Cole and the whole city has been in quarantine. As far as we know Cole and I are the only two that survived the bomb. Well, at least no one that did has shown up yet that is. And if there where more survivors…would they have powers to?
Day one in Quarantine:
Cole is out running to work on his parkour skills. Considering he hasn't climbed buildings since back when we all did it in New Marie. I'd say hes not really lost his touch. He climbed up the building beside us pretty great compared to me. I was never a parkour type of person. The only reason I did it back in New Marie was because the place was flooded…and I didn't want to be showed up by zeke. I vowed after we came back home to never parkour again. But I broke that vow today. I had to get to the top of the building Cole just climbed. This…will be great.
I took a few steps back and ran up the wall to grab onto the side of the neon sign that was connected to the building. Dear God I need to lose weight! I feel as if I weight a hundred extra pounds! I know I don't pull myself up a building like this everyday and all. Once I pulled myself over the neon sign I used it as leverage to push myself towards the window frame that was above my head. A few windows later and I as finally griping the edge of the roof. My fingers where killing me. They would probably cuss me out if they could talk. They were sweaty and achy from grabbing and pulling that my one of my hands slipped after I grabbed onto the ledge. All I could do was gasp as I started to fall back down. Thankfully Cole Leaned over and grabbed my tired arm. "Woah easy now, where You going beautiful?" As tired as I was I couldn't help but blush at him. As he hauled me up I caught my breath and laughed at him a little. "Thank you. You're my own knight in…yellow leather." He laughed at my comment and kissed me. As much as I didn't want the kiss to end I was desperate for air still from trying to climb the building. "You know, I don't miss doing this at all." I said with an exhausted smile. "Ah come on babe, it's not so bad. You're just rusty like me. Few more buildings and you'll be good!" He pointed to the scenery behind him of the city ahead of us. There were hundreds of buildings. I hope he doesn't want to try and cover most of them. "Uhh how far are we going again?" I rubbed the back of my head trying to get rid of a growing headache from thinking about going that far with parkour training. "Not too far. See that building near the bay with the chain-linked fence around most of the ledge?" He pointed to the direction of where the building was but I couldn't see it. I moved closer to the edge to see if I could catch at least a glimpse of the building Cole was talking about. Hoping it wasn't too far away. "Something tells me today is going to be a long day." I must have sounded extremely excited because I heard Cole make a grunt sound behind me. "You'll be fine…Hey I'll beat you there." Before I could comprehend what he said he took off over the ledge to the roof of another building below us. "Oh no you don't." I leaned back a little to gain the force I needed to lunge myself over the little gap that was between the buildings.
After a few painful climbs and huge leaps I finally caught up with Cole. All right I can do this. My adrenaline kicking in as I started to jump over the few air vents on the roof of the building I was on. Cole was one roof ahead of me. I jumped onto the window ledge across from me and threw myself for what felt like the hundredth time up onto the roof. Cole was just jumping over a plumbing pipe when I was fully on my feet. "I'd say you're still rusty!" I shouted as I ran past him. I could hear him life behind me as I also heard him pick up speed. I finally got the hang of parkour. Im still not a huge fan of it but I know how much it can come in handy. Considering we don't know much about our powers or how people will act with them yet. Your never know when we need a quick getaway or something.
The rooftop Cole described earlier was with in shooting distance now. Just a few more to go. The excitement from being close to the checkpoint pumped me up even more to push faster and harder towards the next roof. I plant my foot onto the ledge for a good push to jump onto the next roof that was ahead. What I didn't see was the large gap between me and the roof.
