… Was this how it would be if the two officially started dating? Was that how it would be all the time after Hikaru would start becoming more social? Was Kaoru going to become an old child's toy, forgotten as they grew up?

Questions raced through Kaoru's head as he pulled out his cell phone and began to call for a ride home. Ten minutes later, his ride arrived and he was finally able to return to the comfort of his room. Yes, his room. Kaoru had decided that in order to give Hikaru more space, he should move to another room. So, just this morning, he had asked the staff to begin moving his things to the 'guest room' down the hall. Kaoru sat for hours, alone, on this bed. It wasn't his bed, yet it was. It wasn't their bed, he realized. Unable to focus on anything but his own sadness and the chatter of Hikaru on the phone with Haruhi three rooms down, he fell backwards, simply lying in his own self-pity.

If you had asked him how long he laid there, he wouldn't have had a clue. All he knew was the sound of the voices in his head clashing and clanging together to make thinking nearly impossible. And for that, he was grateful. Kaoru didn't want to think. He didn't want to sleep, eat, think, or in that moment, breathe. He simply didn't want to live. And while the thought of some sort of escape was tempting… He still had hope. Perhaps someday soon, Hikaru would love him. Perhaps he would find someone who would love him, so that he wouldn't love Hikaru in this disgusting way.

Wait, do I love Hikaru? Did I really just think that? Do I love him more than a brother…? Minutes passed, as Kaoru pondered this new idea. No! I-I can't love him like that, he's my brother. I'm just unhappy that he's spending so much time with Haruhi because I never get to see my brother! I'm not jealous, I'm not gay, and I am not in love with my twin brother!

While Kaoru knew he loved Hikaru as a brother, he was doubtful of loving him in any other way. The option of being part of an actual case of incest, especially being twins, instead of just goofing around and acting that way was… Well, Kaoru didn't quite understand how he felt about it. Sure, it had been fun pretending to be in a homosexual relationship with his own brother, but it would be weird if it came to be like that. Why, then, did the thought of Hikaru make his heart beat the tiniest bit quicker?

Tired, pained, and utterly confused, Kaoru couldn't help but wonder if Hikaru had ever thought about anything of the sort. He exerted just enough effort to pick up his phone and begin to type just a few words in a new message to Hikaru. Afterwards, he laid back down and placed the device on his stomach, waiting for either a reply or the door to open. Kaoru waited for what seemed like hours. It was hours, actually. Hours spent laying in the dark, tears streaming down his cheeks, waiting for some sort of response.

He was just a lonely teenager wanting to have someone to talk to. He wanted to have Hikaru comfort him, to hold him like they used to during the club.

Is that so much to ask?

Finally, Kaoru passed out, the low drone of the ceiling fan having lulled him to sleep.

The stench hit him first. It rendered Kaoru helpless, for a moment, as he struggled to observe his surroundings and stand. Wh-where am I? Am I dreaming again?

His question was answered as the deformed host club, now joined with about half of the school's population, rotting equally shuffled into view. Glancing over his shoulder, Kaoru caught sight of the staff approaching from behind him as well. He was surrounded, again. A sweat began to break on Kaoru's forehead as he spun around, looking for any sort of break in the wall of people. Unable to find one, he began to weep silently.

They're coming for me… All over again, all of them.

Tears stained his face and dripped off the end of his chin, speckling the floor as the groups closed in. The closer they got, the worse the odor became, their paces quickened, and the faster the limbs dropped. Kaoru could hear the creaking of their brittle bones, the crunching of feet on fallen parts, and their raspy breathing. Panic having completely settled in, he desperately tried shoving past the group, gagging at the foul smell and the sight of so many maggots.

Pushing and attempting to fight off the others was futile. The small amount of people fought off was soon replaced by more and more, and soon the mob was twice the size it had been. Kaoru sank to the floor, defeated. A sob fought its way out of his chest, preparing to give himself up to these… These creatures. These filthy, horrid creatures.

Woken by the sounds of Hikaru's laughter, Kaoru rose from his bed, and wiped away the tears from the previous night. He opened the door, and, having left it slightly ajar, peered out. The youngest could only see the back of his brother, but after opening the door a bit more, a short brunette was now in his view.

Oh… So she's here. Shuffling out, slowly, Kaoru passed the couple on the way to the kitchen. Haruhi smiled, and said hello, but earned no response, which only displeased Hikaru.

"Kaoru, the least you can do is say hi. I get that it's early and all, but it isn't that hard."

Frowning, Kaoru turned around to face his mirror image.

"Oh, I'm sorry, Hikaru. I just didn't want to intrude on your lovely little morning with Haruhi here," He spat. "Hello, Haruhi. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'll head off to get some breakfast." Kaoru smiled sourly and proceeded downstairs.

"Kaoru, wait." Haruhi called after him, but he was too far to have heard her. She spun around to look at Hikaru, and the look she gave him just screamed 'Go talk to him'. Sighing, the eldest followed after his younger counterpart.

It's a bit shorter than some of the others, but hey, it's not the shortest, either. Please feel free to leave a review on how this all is turning out, because they make me feel like I have more motivation, even if it's a critique. Thank you,
