Bleh! Hi everyone, I'm back! Whew it's been a while. I do apologize. Marching season ended, then the new trimester started….yea. Anyway, here's the next chapter! Number….um….18! Chapter 18!

The Waiting Game

Wally was sitting outside.

He just needed to be alone for a bit, he supposed. He couldn't help feeling a bit like Jaci was hurt because he had been there. If he had just stayed at the store…

There was a rustling in the leaves and Wally looked over. "Jaci…?" He asked uncertainly. He was uneasy, though he wasn't quite sure why.

There was a low growl and Wally's heart rate skyrocketed. Not Jaci.

The growling grew louder and closer, and something emerged. It was a boy, maybe sixteen. But he was all wrong; long, grey wolf's ears sprouted from his head, his eyes were bright, and his teeth….

Then the others came. They were all wolfish, two boys and one girl. They circled him and Wally realized he was trapped. He couldn't run. They had cornered him.

The girl struck, almost faster than Wally could track, claw-like nails tearing the skin at his shoulder.

Wally jumped back, crying out in pain, running right into another one.

Was this it? Was he going to die? Would anybody ever know? The girl leapt on top of him, mouth open, ready to strike a killing blow to the jugular vein. Her jaws stared to close-

There was a blur and a roar and Wally felt a sharp pain in his throat. Looking up, the girl was on the ground, being absolutely pulverized by…but wait…why was Jaci out of bed? Out of the store?

All the wolves not being beat to a bloody pulp got low to the ground, their ears pointing downward.

"YOU INSUBORDINATE, UNCARING, SADISTIC OMEGA!" Jaci was shouting.

More wolves ran into the scene, looking breathless and tired. All of them immediately got just as low to the ground, like they were bowing at a pharaoh's feet.

When Jaci was finished beating the girl, she got up growling, and moved to Wally's side. Then she saw the blood. "Scratch or bite?" She asked, like it was the most important thing in the world.

Wally looked at his arm. "This is just a scratch…"

But Jaci wasn't looking at his arm. "No Wally, your neck!"

Wally's heart stopped. "Sh-she actually bit me?"

Jaci's eyes immediately turned their brilliantly different shades of neon yellow and bloody red, and her canines grew large. She turned on her heel and shouted "DIE, BITCH, DIE!" (Dog in this case, as Jaci doesn't cuss)

Wally closed his eyes, wincing away, but he could still hear Jaci's cries of rage and the sound of the girl taking blows.

"YOU GET OUT OF MY SIGHT AND OUT OF MY PACK BEFORE I ACTUALLY HAVE TO FREAKING KILL YOU, YOU GOT IT!? HOW DARE YOU!? HOW DARE YOU!?"

There was whimpering and then the sound of scampering and Wally opened his eyes. The girl was gone. So were the three boys.

"AND STAY OUT, AMANDA! DON'T YOU DARE COME BACK, ANY OF YOU! NOT DAMON, NOT ALAN, NOT DEREK AND ESPECIALLY NOT THAT LOWLY OMEGA AMANDA!"

When Jaci had calmed down, she wobbled.

"Jaci?" Wally rushed to her side and caught her.

"I'm okay, Wally…" she said tiredly and weakly. Wally's hand was warm, and wet, and when he looked at it, red. Jaci's wounds had opened up.

"Jaci, why are you out of bed!? You're hurt!"

"I heard… them… Becca told me... I… I couldn't… let them…k-kill you… Wally..."

A girl's voice spoke up. "Oh, My Todd! Is that Wally West!?"

"Mine." Jaci said, smiling. "Sorry, Becky girl."

"Does that mean Robin's here?"

"Hope's. Sorry. No boys for you. Unless you want Kaldur."

Rebecca pouted.

Wally spoke up, "so, is this your pack?"

"Yeah… we need to … introduce them."

"No, Alpha," Rebecca said, "we need to introduce ourselves. With all due respect Alpha, what you both need is medical attention and rest…..especially him."

"Why?" Wally asked. "What's wrong with me!?"

Jaci whimpered. "Wally, you got bit. You…you….Wally, you could…you might…"

Rebecca finished for her: "It's likely that you're going to change into one of us."

"WHAT!?"

"I'm so sorrrrryyyyyy" Jaci said, barely holding back tears. "I didn't get here fast enouuuugh! And now you're probably gonna have to be like FREAKING MEEEE!"

Randy appeared from the trees, and escorted them back to the store.

-breakline-

Jaci was back in bed, being watched very very closely by Hope. "No more getting up for you." She had told her.

Meanwhile, Robin had no clue whether or not Wally was going to change, and it was riving everyone crazy.

"I'm so sorry…" Jaci repeated for the umpteenth time, "I didn't want you to have to be like me… I didn't want this to happen…"

"It's okay." Wally told her, also for the umpteenth time.

"How will we know?" Robin asked, frustrated at his lack of skill in this field.

"We play the waiting game." Jaci said sadly.

Dun dun dunnnnnn! Oh no! What will happen next? Tune in next time to find out, same bat-time, same bat-channel!
