The morning sun peaks through the low clouds, casting a bright light on the horizon as far as I can see. A mixture of reds, purples and oranges – an artist's dream.

It's a pretty view, but I can't enjoy it.

Birds tweet outside and waves crash in the distance – the epitome of peace and quiet — but I can't enjoy them.

This camper van, this beach, and this beautiful day are everything we imagined it would be.

But you're not here to see it.

I glance at the ring on my finger — the one that caused so many smiles and in the end, so much heartache. I can't move on while feeling so weighed down by it and the memories it holds.

With a deep breath and a few silent tears, I pull the ring off, walk to the edge of the cliff and throw it to the sea below, not caring where it lands.

Closure.

Back on the road, destination unknown I stop for a man with intense eyes and a beautiful smile.

"Where are you going?" he asks.

I smile. "Home."
