I hope this works, Chihiro thought, raising her palm past her head. Before she could strike, she glanced down at his eyes. They were so calm, as if giving up and waiting to see what happens next. Taking another deep breath, she bit her lip and forced her hand down upon his chest. Once she hit him, he gasped, feeling the energy suddenly escape from his breath. A bright wave of energy appeared, distancing itself from the two spirits. She gave a brief glance back at Koji, who was unconscious but still breathing. It worked, she sighed in relief.
As the energy began to take form, Chihiro stood up, raising her katana in defense. The glowing shape of the leader appeared before her, looking so healthy and in a fresh new battle armor. His red eyes stared into her, daring not to blink. "It's seems that this is the end," he suddenly spoke, looking at Koji. The teenager stepped in front of him, causing the leader to return his focus on her. "Don't worry," he muttered. "I am incapable of doing anything in this form. The least I can do is wait and disappear."
Even though he said that to reassure her, she never let her guard down. The leader chuckled, examining the ruins of the academy. "You and I have made quite a mess," he sighed. As time passed by, Chihiro could notice his body slowly turning transparent. "Anyways," he cleared his throat. "You've worked hard last time I've fought you." The teenager frowned, eyeing her cut palm and back at him. "Who would have thought that you would become one of the greatest spirits in this world," he sighed. "You've learned so much… based on today's fight." Closing his eyes, he felt the soft wind blow his hair away from his eyes.
"Dark Fear," he called to the dragon. Chihiro heard the dragon inside of her growl, as if rejecting the leader. The spirit smiled, forcing it to come out. Her brown hair suddenly glowed black, her eyes turning red like the leaders'. "Why do you do this to me, human brat," Kiyoshi muttered. Turning back to the leader, it crossed its arms. "Well? What do you want?" He chuckled, his armor shaking. "I guess she has tamed you already," he noticed. Kiyoshi blinked, seeing nothing but the top portion of his body.
The leader knew as well, giving one last sigh. "It would have been better if I had stayed longer," he thought, glancing back at Koji again. "I could have…" He looked down at his fading hand. "…at least set things right. Do that for me, human girl." Kiyoshi stared at the grinning leader as he finally disappeared. The academy was silent, leaving the unconscious Koji and possessed Chihiro alone at the center. A sudden outburst of footsteps ran towards them, calling out, "Leader! Leader!" Ichiro appeared out of breath, searching for his master. Once he spotted Kiyoshi holding Chihiro's katana, his eyes were filled with angry tears. "You! What have you done-"
Before he could even lunge forward, Kiyoshi had already arrived at his side, knocking him out with one strike at his stomach with the blunt end of her sword. He fell back, leaving his tears falling down his cheeks. The battered group finally arrived, noticing Kiyoshi standing between the fallen boys. "Ch-Chihiro?" Ryuu called out. "What happened-"
"They're only sleeping," a more matured voice from Chihiro spoke. Ryuu nodded, motioning Usagi and Noboru to come and tend to their wounds. Usagi briefly touched Yui's shoulder, as if giving her a silent encouragement. As soon as the spirit followed after the other two, there was Haku and Yui left to confront Chihiro. "Who are you?" Haku suddenly called out. Yui frowned, confused as to why he had asked such a question. Is she not Chihiro? I mean, I guess she'd look like that because of her powers, but…
Chihiro shook her head. "I'm Kiyoshi," it replied with a firm tone. "But you might as well know me as the Dark Fear." Dark Fear… Dark Fear?! Yui stiffened, recalling the frightening name. Has the Dark Fear taken over Chihiro's body? She raised her arm to gather magic, but was stopped by Haku. He lowered her arm and spoke. "Is she in there?" he asked softly. Kiyoshi closed its eyes, gripping the katana tightly. The shadowy black hair disappeared, as well as the red glowing eyes. Chihiro returned, facing her lover and her best friend. "The leader's gone," she said, glancing back at Koji.
As Usagi fed him water, he coughed until Ryuu helped him up. Noboru, on the other hand, was shaking Ichiro with a tone of disappointment. "What have you done," the spirit muttered over and over to the awakening spirit. Chihiro glanced back at the two, who were speechless. Haku wanted to ask if she was alright, but remembered their previous fight. He bit his lip, wondering whether they could make up. Just as he was about to gain the courage to speak to her, Yui bursted out, "Chihiro!"
Startled by her own exclamation, she flinched. Shyly looking back up at the waiting spirit, she murmured, "It is you, right?" The girl gave a soft smile, assuring Yui. "It's me, Yui," she confirmed. "I'm sorry for keeping this- keeping everything from you." Haku closed his mouth, holding himself back. Allowing the girls to have a little time by themselves, he walked towards the students and Ryuu. Chihiro walked closer to Yui, holding her arms out. Hesitant, the spirit stepped forward and fell into her arms.
"I missed you so much," the spirit sniffled, squeezing Chihiro tightly. The girl chuckled, trying to ignore the fact that her ribs were beginning to burn in pain. "I missed you too," she murmured softly, feeling her friend's warmth. Yui buried her face into Chihiro's shoulder, giving a little squeak. "I-I'm sorry," she suddenly apologized. "Ever since you left, I thought it was the perfect chance for me to leave the Human World- it's not that I didn't want to see you again, it's just that I was spending too much time in that world than I was supposed to. I asked our friend to give my letter to you when you'd return, but she told me you never came. So…"
Chihiro smiled, ruffling Yui's hair. "Don't worry about it," she assured. "And I'm sorry too. I just left so abruptly without telling you gusy. But… I'm glad I got to see you again. I wanted to finally talk to you after all of this was over." The two spirits reconciled, heading out to help the other students who were returning. "Is everything alright, Ryuu?" Lord Daichi asked. The wind dragon nodded, explaining what had happened. Meanwhile, Ms. Lulu and Kal Merey led the students back into the academy, directing them to a safe location while they wait for their parents or guardians.
Haku sat where there were no spirits, finally relaxing after a day's hard work. He brushed his hair back, looking around to find Chihiro standing in front of him. "Haku," she spoke softly. Behind her back, her fingers were fidgeting anxiously. "Can we talk?"
