Moment of Truth

We were having a family dinner at Leah and Chris's house. It was Leah, Chris, Jared, Kim, Dylan, Holly, Braden, Seth and I. It was two weeks early but it didn't seem to matter I was defiantly in labor. Seth panicked and Dylan and Braden had to drag him outside to make sure he didn't phase. Kim and Leah helped me to the car while Jared called Dr. Cullen, he wanted to be informed when I went into labor. Leah drove us to the hospital and Jared stayed behind to wait for Seth to calm down. Chris had even called ahead to the hospital and let them know that we were coming so they could call the doctor that I have been seeing.

It has been three hours now since we left Leah's. Seth and my brothers arrived about half an hour after we did. By then I was the one that was panicking. Probably because of the amount of time it took for Seth to get there.

I spent a total of eight hours in labor. Carlisle even arrived two hours before they were born and so he got to be my doctor. Despite having been born early both of the twins are healthy. We don't have to worry about getting them confused like Seth thought at first because we ended up with one boy and one girl. The two names we chose are Rhylan and Kellan. I think I scared Seth though after they were born because I fell asleep two hours later and slept for almost twelve hours. Carlisle said that is was just my body trying to heal since I'm not human. He hoped that the healing process would bring my temperature up to normal wolf temperature but it didn't happen.

It has been two weeks since the twins were born. Carlisle has been staying around Forks to check on me and the babies when needed since they were born early. The rest of the Cullen family came back last week to visit as well. Everyone was excited to help out with everything. Carlisle hasn't told Seth this but he is worried about me because I haven't started healing yet. Today while Seth is out on patrol Jake will be forcing me to phase. We decided to do it when Seth isn't around because Carlisle doesn't think forcing me to phase will be as easy as Jake ordering me to phase. It could possibly be that simple but we don't know. After all while Jake was away I was serving as alpha so my wolf might not listen to his commands. Considering as a wolf I didn't always listen to the alpha commands before I might not now after serving as alpha.

"Ash are you sure you will be alright while I go on patrol?"

"Yes, Seth I promise I will be alright besides both Leah and your Mom will be here to help with the twins."

Ever since Rhylan and Kellan were born he has been this way every time he has to go on patrol. I'm not really sure if it is more me or them that he is worried about maybe it is both. I got up off the couch and walked over to where he was standing by the door.

"We've been through this a thousand times."

He wrapped his arms around my waist and placed a kiss on my forehead.

"True Sweetheart but, you are the one that used to cry when I went on patrol."

"Used to, she still does."

I heard Jake smack Brady in the back of the head for his comment.

"Do you?"

"I only do it sometimes when you are gone all night on patrol."

Seth pulled me even closer to him and whispered in my ear.

"You never have to worry. I promise that I will always come home to you and hold you tight."

"I know. Now it's time for you to get going."

"Are you trying to get rid of me today?"

"No but the sooner you leave the sooner you can come back home to spend this night with me."

"Very true"

Before he let go of me to leave, he leaned down and kissed me. All of the guys behind me let out wolf whistles. I swear these guys will never grow up. Jake and I left out the back door about ten minutes after Seth left.

"Are you sure you're ready for this?"

"Yes, I'm ready to be a wolf again."

"You know that even if you can't phase again you will always be part of the pack just like the others."

"I know but I have to do this for myself. Being a wolf has made my life what it is today. Deciding to start a family was something I did for Seth and phasing again will be something I do for me and the twins."

Together we walked into the woods away from the house. When we got just out of sight of the house I took off my sweat pants and tee shirt to have them of later.

"Dude are you really covering your eyes?"

"Yes"

"Jake it's not like you haven't seen be phase before and besides I still have shorts and a tank top on."

"I don't want Seth to kill me, he is really possessive over you when it comes to that type of thing."

"I don't think you possibly seeing me naked is what you have to worry about Seth getting angry about. I think it is going to depend more on how you have to make me phase."

We walked a little further into the forest.

"Would you like to start with me trying to order you to phase?"

"Might as well, maybe we will get lucky and it will work."

Jake tried about ten different ways to order me to phase but nothing worked. A few times I felt my body trying to fight it a little but not much.

"I guess we have to do this the hard way where I have to piss you off. If only I was as good at that as Paul is."

"All you have to do is try to be a smart ass like him."

We both laughed at that. Jake tried to make me angry the way Paul does by making comments about Seth and I but that isn't working either. Maybe it was because I could tell the difference between Jake joking and Paul joking.

"Sorry Jake but this isn't working."

"I think you're right."

Jake closed the small distance between us and then shoved me to the ground.

"What was that for?"

"If I can't talk you into phasing, maybe I can get you to phase to defend yourself."

He helped me up while he was talking just to push right back down again. I tried to knock him down by sweeping his legs out from under him but he moved too fast for me. We fought like this for about five minutes. I was barely able to touch Jake but he knocked me on my ass several times.

"Jake stop"

"No can do."

"Please my entire backside is going to be black and blue."

"Come on Ayasha quit whining like a little puppy."

I let out a slight growl at him as I got back up off the ground. This time I was able to block him and shove him back. He didn't fall to the ground like I had been doing but he did take a couple steps back. I could tell that it surprised him a little that I had actually made contact with him. The two of us continued to fight for a while. The longer it went on the harder Jake fought with me. The harder Jake fought against the more I got thrown to the ground and into the surrounding trees.

Jake rounded on me and kicked me straight in the stomach. I was shaking at this point and was able to land on me feet. He came at me again before I really had time to think. I moved just as quickly though and since he was attacking low I jumped. When I landed behind him I landed on all fours as my wolf.

Phasing this time was painful. It had never been before not even the first time I phased. Maybe it was just from the beating I had taken from Jake in the last two hours or maybe it was from not phasing in so long. I could feel my body healing though. I took deep breaths and relaxed to phase back to my human form while Jake phased. I wanted to give him a minute to talk to Seth alone before I showed Seth that I could phase. My body continued to heal even though I was in human form like it was supposed to. I had grown a couple of inches again and all of my muscles are once again well defined.

Jake seemed annoyed that I had phased back to I phased again into my wolf.

"Hey, Jake what's up?"

"Not much just helping a new wolf phase."

"Oh"

"Yeah, now quit bouncing around and run normally."

"Sorry boss, I'm just excited cause my shift is almost half over."

"He can't stop bouncing around boss because he is an annoying bouncing fur ball."

"Ayasha!?"

"Yes my fur ball."

"Are you the wolf Jake was helping?"

"Duh"

I had snuck up on Seth while Jake was talking to him so I was now right behind him. I sped up a little and nipped at his shoulder. It felt so good to run though the woods again especially with Seth.
