I wrote this a while ago, but never quite finished it until now. I started playing around with the idea of the Malfoy name ending, and Draco not handling it well.
"Are you sure you don't want another one, Scorpius?" Draco asked.
Scorpius and Rose had three daughters. Cassiopeia was six (They called her Cassi for short), Lyra was four, and Vela was just a year old. Scorpius had convinced Rose to continue with the age old Black family tradition of naming children after constellations or stars which was carried over to the Malfoy family by Scorpius's grandmother, Narcissa. However, Rose was adamant not to name her daughters anything too strange.
"Dad, we already have three beautiful girls. You and mum have three times the grandchildren that most Malfoy grandparents have had in the past." Scorpius reasoned. "Why do you care, anyway?"
Astoria was busy french braiding Cassi's long, sleek, red hair, but Scorpius could tell his mother was listening in on their conversation.
Draco squirmed a bit in his chair, obviously uncomfortable. "Son, you do realize that the Malfoy family name ends with you, then? Besides, don't you want a son?"
Rose walked in with Vela in her arms and Lyra trailing behind her.
"My husband is trying to convince Scorpius to have another child." Astoria explained when Rose looked eager to be filled in on the current conversation.
"Oh no. Three is definitely enough." She said as Lyra jumped into her grandfather's lap and she gave Vela to Scorpius.
"Dad, the Malfoy name may end with me, but the pureblood line also ended after me when I married Rose. Maybe it's time that some of the old traditions die out." Scorpius supposed before he had another thought. "I've got one nephew so far, and Hugo has made it very clear that he won't be last child they're having. And a lot of Rose's cousins have sons that I can spend some 'guy time' with. James has all boys, so maybe we could switch kids for a day or two."
Rose immediately disagreed. "The girls aren't spending time with 'Uncle James' until they're old enough to know right from wrong. I don't want him corrupting my daughters. Besides, I don't think I want all four of James's little monsters here at once." Rose looked at Cassi, who was now perched on Astoria's lap. She had always been too smart for her age, which was both a blessing and a curse. "Don't repeat that." Rose demanded.
Cassi smiled and nodded innocently at her mother, but before long, Draco and Astoria had to leave because James was expected to arrive soon to help Scorpius with a project around the house. Lyra and Cassi hung on to the legs and arms of their grandparents, begging them not to leave, and that they could stay longer even though Scorpius had to help James. Their parents peeled them off Astoria and Draco, and the girls waved from the front window as their grandparents apparated back to Malfoy Manor.
The girls waited around miserably for 'Uncle James' to come, and hoped that James would bring his own kids so they would have something to do now that their grandparents were gone. When the doorbell rang the two girls raced to the door. Cassi reached the door first because she was both taller and faster than her little sister. Cassi whipped the door open and called triumphantly, "Come in, little monsters!" She waved her hand and led three of James's children into the house.
Rose had just appeared from the kitchen to witness the scene and sighed in both embarrassment and dismay. James appeared in the doorway grinning. "You taught her that, didn't you?"
