Author's Note: Wow, I apologize for the most latest update in the world. I forgot the password to my account for a little while, and I just lost interest in One Piece...but I'm back! I'll try to write everyday, so I can make up for the long wait...I'm so sorry!

After about two months or so, Sage had begunto get used to her almost always furious captain, and her eccentric crewmates. She was needed many times, mostly to relieve headaches and hangovers from the previous nights of drinking. Sage had refused invitation to drink many times, thinking it was best to stay sober, just in case she had to calm down a crewmate, or drag a knocked out drunk back to the ship.

Living on the ship with the others, Sage eventually found herself enjoying the other's company. Crow remained her favorite person to spend time with, but the others slowly warmed up to her, and got over the fact that she was a woman. Of course, that didn't mean she was exempt from work - when she wasn't healing a crewmember, she did her part like everyone else. Sage's strength wasn't anything to brag about - but she tried her best in everything she did. Most of her attempts often made more of a mess than to begin with, she once even managed to land a week's worth of rations into the water, which made Kid want to throw her into the water.

Kid hadn't adapted to the doctor as fast as the rest of the crew did - he saw her as a liability. He knew that soon, many other crews would be talking about the new addition to the Kid Pirates, and they would also begin to mock him. The red haired man thought it best that Sage be rid of soon. Her constant mistakes and talking back made him want to throw the woman overboard and leave her in the sea, but Killer and the others would usually hold him back. Sage's mix ups were a constant headache to the red haired man, and he once was able to throw a gear at her head without Killer's notice - which he missed. The girl had no strength, she was only able to carry one box at a time, compared to the rest of his crew's two. Kid gazed up at the blue sky. What an annoying woman. She isn't strong, and she can't fuckin' cook either! What kind of woman can't cook?! Goddamnit Killer, you should've at least got a doctor who can make a decent stew!

The Kid Pirates headed out to sea once Crow's injuries had healed, leaving Sabaody Archipelago, and sailing to a smaller, lesser known island. The name has been lost to history, and most of the pirates onboard didn't know what to call it.

"This is Nome - we will be making a stop here, to restock. Feel free to drink, but be back at the ship, or we'll leave you behind." Killer had a habit of acting like a mother on the ship - constantly reminding the others to do this, and not do that, to not fuck up the various items in the kitchen. It made Sage giggle, his name didn't match his personality at all! The crew dispersed and returned to their individual activities, Sage returning to the lower deck to sort out her herbs, bandages, and spices: something she did when she had absolutely nothing to do. Hours seemed to pass, the sun as high in the sky as ever - the lower deck had the worst heat Sage had experienced. Sweat dripped down her body, and she voiced her complaint by groaning loudly. Footsteps were heard outside Sage's operating room, which belonged to her orange haired friend Crow.

"Yo, Doc! Let's go drinking! You, me and tha' crew!" Crow put his arm around Sage's shoulders, smiling with enthusiasm.

"It's alright, Crow. You and the crew can go. I'll stay behind to watch the ship." Sage smiled, sticking with her plan to stay sober.

"C'mon Doc! Yer' too kind! We handled ourselves just fine before ya joined our crew! Come and drink with us!" Sage shook her head at every offer Crow threw at her. She smiled at the man's persistence. The sound of a door slamming resonated around the lower deck - which signified the presence of Kid. Crow glanced at Sage, giving her a reassuring smile. Sage gulped - Kid and her hadn't been on the best of terms ever since she had cleansed his cuts. He yelled at her every chance he got, and when she tried to say something back, he either tried to hit her with metal objects, or he would threaten to throw her off this ship or storm back to his room. The rest of the crew also helped Sage less and less - she couldn't blame them honestly, but she wished someone would stand by her. Kid was as frightening as they come, and she often found herself flinching and scared in his presence, despite helping him heal before.

Kid had passed by Sage's room, his face barely visible in the doorway. The dark haired woman felt a chill go down her spine when she made eye contact with her captain. "Are you drinking tonight?" He spat, irritation clear in his voice.

"Actually, I thought it would be best to stay on the ship. You know, just in case someone gets injured or something."

"You're going to go drinking." Kid kept staring at the woman, causing Sage to avert her gaze.

"Eh? But you just asked me if I was and-"

"I asked you, and now I'm telling you. You're going to drink tonight." Sage sighed, and hung her head.

"Yes sir."

The sun was just setting on the horizon, turning the sky brilliant shades of purple, pink, and orange. Sage wanted to stay in her room, but her captain's ever watchful eye followed her every move to make sure she went off the ship. She walked alongside Killer, speaking with the masked man about whatever came to mind - he was always there to listen. Kid continued to watch her, which did not go unnoticed by Sage.

The crew had everything they needed - food, water, bandages, they were ready to set sail again. Killer led the way to a small tavern, which was surprisingly empty. The sun had completely set. the sky a deep black, with little stars dotting the sky. The moon was full, providing the bright shimmering light needed to light the pathways and roads. Inside the tavern was small tables, with a tiny elderly woman at the bar. She smiled gently, and slowly trudged toward the pirates. "Ah, hello there. Come, come, make yourself comfortable." The woman spoke slowly, in a monotone voice that made you drowsy.

Sage chose to sit with Crow, and others, while Kid and Killer made their way to another, nearby table, and immediately ordered drinks. The old lady quickly served them. She was being extremely welcome and kind to the Kid Pirates, despite the reputation of the crew. Perhaps, she was swift to serve them because they were pirates- or maybe, she was too old to care. At least half of the crew was gone in an hour- most likely having fun upstairs in the room with the ladies that frequented the bar. Killer was one of them, albeit he was forced upstairs by a young lady. Sage never took Killer as a ladies man, and the mere sight of Killer being forced up the stairs made Sage giggle. Soon, Heat and Wire were drunk out of their mind, with Crow beginning to dance on the tables, singing random songs with lyrics so unintelligible and slurred, it sounded like a jumble of words. Kid was upstairs as well, leaving Sage alone at a table with a full cup of booze. Crow, Wire, and Heat had moved to the center of the tavern, drinking together, and Sage was left to her own thoughts. She thought of her father, her mother. Her home. Tears began to swell up in her eyes, and she shut her eyes tightly. This wasn't the place to be sulking and feeling sorry for herself. She was happy - finally happy.

A loud commotion upstairs had caught Sage's attention - a woman was yelling along with a male, whom she identified as none other than her captain. She sighed, watching as the busty blond woman stomped down the stairs, storming out of the tavern. Kid followed, red handprint on his cheek, yelling and thrashing, threatening to murder the other patrons if they looked at him again. He sat on the opposite side of Sage, on the empty table, and immediately grabbed a jug of beer.

Kid's usual scowl had died down a bit after a couple of cups, most likely due to the alcohol calming his nerves. He glanced in Crow's direction, who was now singing at the top of his lungs, with Heat and Wire laughing at his drunken stupor. Heat and Wire's cheeks were red from being drunk, and they looked about ready to pass out. He heard Sage giggle from his right. Sage appeared to be totally sober, not even tipsy.

Kid threw all his weight down on the chair next to Sage, the smaller girl flinching slightly as her captain sat next to her. He gulped his beer loudly, slammed the mug back onto to the table, and demanded another. He pointed to Sage's mug, and looked her straight in the eye. "Oi, I told you drink, didn't I?" Sage's expression could only be described as embarrassment, although, Kid could not figure out the source. She looked at her mug, and swallowed. Sage appeared to be reluctant to drink it - and it was irritating the shit out of Kid. "You bastard, don't waste booze!" Sage closed her eyes, and her lips quivered slightly. She grabbed her mug, slowly raising it to her lips. Kid watched her every move, making sure she was actually going to drink. The girl leaned her head back, and gulped. Some of the contents dripped down her chin, and she put her mug back down on the table, empty. "Heh, I knew you had it in ya. Oi, old lady, another!" Kid motioned his hand. Sage wiped the foam from her chin, and hiccuped. She was a light weight, that's for sure, one or two more mugs would be enough for her to pass out.

"It's about time you fuckin' let loose. Drinking's good for ya, get used to it." Kid sipped more from his mug.

"Drinking's not really my thing Captain. If you hadn't noticed that already." Sage blushed.

"Half the crew is lightweights, so if that's what you're embarrassed about, don't be. Nobody here cares, we all just wanna drink and shit."

"Is that so? I thought it was only me." Sage chuckled. "Captain, if I may ask, are you alright? Your cheek is still quite red."

"I'm fine, that fuckin' bitch got me square in the face. Caught me off guard. Next time I see that blond haired twat, she's gonna regret doing that." Kid mumbled some more threats under his breath.

"What did you do to her?"

"I don't fuckin' know. I slapped her on the ass and she slapped me in the face. It's making me fuckin' angry just thinking about it." Sage groaned.

"Captain, you gotta treat women with respect, even if they sell their bodies for a living. They aren't just sex toys you know."

"Maybe if they treat me with respect, and not fuckin' hit me, maybe I'll be nicer to 'em." Sage sighed, why did she bother? He was like a child in a man's body. "Why are you all alone? Where's Killer?"

"Killer's upstairs." Sage giggled, putting her hand over her mouth. "A redhead practically dragged him up there. I never took him for a ladies man."

"Killer's getting some action huh?" Kid laughed. Sage smiled, it was the first time she and her captain were speaking together normally. It was fulfilling in a strange way.

An half and hour later, Sage and Kid's random conversations were interrupted by the stumbling of a disheveled Killer, who had somehow, managed to escape the lewd woman who had dragged him off earlier. His mask was still intact, although, his lips were exposed, and seemed to be bruised. Whether it was from kissing, or perhaps a slap during his escape from the woman, they did not know.

Kid cackled, his voice booming throughout the tavern. Wire, Heat, and Crow joined in, although, they were too wasted to understand what was so funny. Sage smiled at Killer and Kid before drinking some more mugs. That was the last thing she remembered before everything blurred and went black.
