A/N: Written upon request for the lovely Heidi. First time writing for the fandom, so I hope I didn't mutilate it. Also for the 5, 10, 20, 50, 70, 100 Fandoms Challenge on HPFC. Progress: 3/100.

I.

Alec stares at his phone, as though his eyes can will it to make a sound. These little stretches of time between texts are sometimes enough to drive him mad.

It's not as though Magnus has found someone more interesting, more worthy in the span of ten minutes. At least, Alec hopes he hasn't.

The Shadowhunter groans, trying to push the thought away and swallow down the insecurity. He has faced monsters, the very things that nightmares are made of. He's endured the placement of his Marks. Alexander Lightwood is meant to be stronger than this.

And yet, all it takes is one warlock, and he crumbles.

Bzz. Bzz.

Alec picks up his phone, smiling to himself as he reads aloud. "Had to shower. Join me next time?"

II.

Magnus stares at his phone, struggling not to reach out and pick it up.

He's said his goodbyes, and he's meant them. Whatever he feels for Alec, his many years have made him stubborn, and he refuses to give in just because one more person has forced his way into the warlock's heart.

"I'm not texting you!" he says loudly, as though his words might reach the Shadowhunter's ears.

His expression softens ever so slightly, and when he speaks again, it's barely a whisper. "But that doesn't mean you can't text me, you know."
