AUTHOR'S NOTE: Sorry this took so long to update. I wanted to finish chapter two of A Night With Oswin, a Day With Clara and update it before someone had a heart attack. I've also had a lot of school work to do. If y'all are anything like me, you'll want just a simple apology and want no reasons or excuses. An apology is enough, but I put the reasons for the people who are not like that. :3 Anywhooo! It was very difficult for me to come up for a plan of action to rescue Clara, and it's still a little bit of a crappy plan, but oh well. I tried. Here's chapter ten of Beyond Destruction. I hope it lives up to your standards and the standards of the previous chapters.

Wellington burst into the weapons storage with the Doctor, Vastra, Jenny, and Latimer behind him as the general went down the row of lockers, looking for a specific one. A firm scowl was etched into the Doctor's face as he silently followed the general, while Jenny was a bit more vocal on her thoughts as she asked, "What are we lookin' for?" Wellington didn't even look at her as his eyes scanned name plate after name plate on each of the lockers as he replied simply, "Confirmation."

"Of what? Tommy's so-called 'mission'."

Wellington didn't reply, and Jenny opened her mouth to ask him again, but she stopped the moment she felt a hand on her shoulder. She turned and saw her wife standing behind her. Vastra shook her head as if to say, "That's enough." Jenny nodded in understanding and hung back, allowing the Doctor and Wellington to continue on ahead by themselves while Latimer stood by the door, his arms crossed and his eyes distant as if he was conflicted and trying to figure out a solution to it.

"This one," Wellington suddenly announced, even drawing Latimer from his thoughts as they all looked to see the Doctor and Wellington open up one of the many lockers. When the locker door turned they were able to see the name plate which read "T. Oswald". It was Tommy's weapons locker.

"Damn it..." Wellington growled the moment he saw the contents of the locker: an empty flamethrower case and an empty hanger for a smaller pistol. The Doctor's expression was unreadable as he turned and walked out of the room without saying another word while Wellington slammed the locker door shut before turning away and running a hand over his face down to cover his mouth.

Vastra and Jenny looked at each other before following after the Time Lord as Latimer glanced at the general once before doing the same. Wellington ran his hand through his hair and let out a sigh before going after them.

"Now we have two people to get back," Wellington stated with irritation clearly evident in his voice as he entered the planning room with the others following behind him. He went over to the central table as the Doctor came up beside him and replied, "We need to get them both back. If I know Clara, she will insist getting her brother back if we don't save him with her."

Wellington sighed and nodded as he mumbled, "This changes everything..."

The Doctor looked down, seemingly deep in thought before a smile carved into his face as he looked up and replied, "I know someone who could take his place in the plan." He then looked at Vastra as he instructed, "Get Strax."

Understanding filled the three who knew Strax, and Vastra and Jenny knew Strax would not only enjoy joining in the plan and in the battle, but he would also be very good at it too with his military strategy and tactics knowledge and weaponry skills. Vastra dipped her head before disappearing from the room on her way to the TARDIS not needing a key because she knew the TARDIS was smart enough and sensitive enough to detect and know that she needed to get inside. Like Vastra had predicted, the TARDIS doors opened for her as she went inside in search of Strax as she called out his name.

"You ready?" The Doctor asked the others as they stood at the entrance to the bunker with all the other soldiers behind them. His eyes traveled over the four others, and they each dipped their heads in turn when his gaze was on them as a smile carved into his face, and he added, "Geronimo then."

Vastra and Jenny glanced at each other, sharing a look of both amusement and relief, but there was darkness inside them both. The darkness was dread and worry. Clara was good for the Doctor. She brought him back to life. They had never seen him so happy as when he was with her, but they knew that if he lost her, he would recede into isolation and depression all over again, but this time it would be ten times as worse.

Wellington led his soldiers out of the entrance with the instructions of drawing all of the ice soldiers' attention to them, which was to allow the Doctor, Jenny, and Vastra to sneak along the outside of the battle to behind enemy lines as they crept along the edge of the fighting. They managed to slip away on the opposite side unnoticed.

Upon exit of the bunker at the other side of the entrance, the trio looked around in surprise at the surroundings. All the buildings were the same as they were twenty years ago except for the fact that this part of the neighborhood and town seemed to be relatively abandoned because it was obviously where the military part of the ice people stayed and dwelled. The Doctor took out his sonic screwdriver and switched it on as he waved it around. He brought it up close as he stared at it, reading its findings.

A smile carved into his face as the Doctor looked up and commented, "There you are..." He ran off, keeping along the edges of the road in the shadows just in case an ice soldier came out into the empty street as Jenny and Vastra chased after him. Neither of them knew where they were going or where he was leading them, but they trusted him enough to follow him. He ran around corner after corner until he finally reached an iron door.

The Doctor smiled because it was metal and not wood. He could get into that. He whipped out his sonic screwdriver and pointed it at the lock and handle of the door as it unlatched. He threw it open and ran inside with Jenny and Vastra right behind him as he called, "Clara? Clara!"

The glass box with Clara in it was in the corner of the room, but on the other side of the room was another box, except it still had a mixture of glass and ice, and inside it was Tommy. The Doctor sighed and pointed the sonic at the box Tommy was in as he used his antifreeze setting. The ice part of the mixture melted, leaving the box weakened as Jenny and Vastra went over to Tommy's box, and the Doctor went over to Clara's box. The Doctor went around to the back so Clara wasnt facing him when he broke the glass lest the glass would hurt her.

He pulled back his arm before slamming his elbow into the glass as it shattered with a deafening sound. Clara screamed and scrambled away as far as she could in the remaining confines of the glass box. Having been kept in a pitch black environment for a couple days, Clara was blinded by the daylight and lights of the room as she squeezed her eyes shut and moved her arms in front of her face to protect herself. The Doctor's eyes softened as his two hearts both tore in half, and he reached out, gently touching her arm. Clara shrieked and pulled away.

"No! Clara, it's all right," the Doctor commented, trying to sooth her as Clara froze at the sound of his voice and lowered her arms. She opened her eyes slowly and looked up at him as tears welled up in her eyes. She let out a choked, relieved sob as she threw her arms around his neck, whimpering softly in pain at the strain she put on her legs. The Doctor wrapped his arms tightly around her, holding her close as he buried his hand into her hair and pressed his nose into the top of her head.

"You're here..." Clara murmured as she nuzzled her face into his chest and clung to him tightly. "You're finally here..."

The Doctor stroked her hair and breathed in her familiar, comforting scent as he replied, "Of course...I would never have left you behind..." Clara smiled and looked up at him as she leaned up, pressing her lips against his. Normally, if he didnt have any warning before being kissed, the Doctor's instincts would have usually kicked in, and he would have started flapping his arms, but this time he didn't. Instead, he took her face into his hands and pulled her closer as both of their eyes closed. Clara sighed into the kiss, but a tap on the Doctor's shoulder made him pull away as he looked up to see Jenny standing there.

The Doctor nodded. He knew they had to go, so he turned to Clara and picked her up, sliding one arm underneath both of her knees before wrapping the other one around her back as he picked her up. Clara was too relieved and joyful over the fact that she was with her Doctor again that she forgot that they were all still in danger. She placed her arms around the Doctor's neck as he carried her. They followed after Jenny and soon met up with Vastra and Tommy who were waiting for them. Clara smiled at her brother, not knowing that he had risked his life in his attempt to rescue her as he smiled back at her, happy to see she was okay.

"How are we getting out?" Tommy asked as he looked at the Doctor and Vastra, and the Doctor swore his eye twitched in slight irritation seeing it was supposed to be Tommy's role in the plan to help them with their escape as he replied with more annoyance than he probably should have, "Well, seeing as you decided to go solo and jeopardize the plan and any hope of getting my Clara back-"

"Wait, your Clara?" Tommy asked suspiciously as he stepped forward, and the Doctor opened his mouth to give a witty retort with poor Clara in the Doctor's arms stuck in the middle. Vastra, however, stepped between them and interceded, "If you don't mind, I would like to get out of here." She then turned to Tommy and commented, "Strax has taken your place and will assist in the escape."

Tommy nodded but still shot the Doctor a suspicious glare, wanting to know how involved he was with his little sister. The Doctor continued on unfazed as they all went to meet up with Strax. Clara, however, didn't let what was said slide as she whispered into the Doctor's ear so none of the other's heard, "What do you mean Tommy went solo? Did he try to rescue me on his own?" The Doctor merely nodded, but Clara wanted more detail as she opened her mouth to ask another question. However, before she could utter a single word, a dreadfully familiar voice sneared, "I will admit. I am impressed. Not many things can pull on trick on me."

The Great Intelligence...It had realized what was going on and found them.
