If you happen to been already following this story then I apologize for the hell I put your notifications through. I moved around literally the entire story and it was a lot more complicated than what I should have made it be. For those of you just now starting I hope you'll enjoy this story and everything that will come in the near future!
If I owned One Piece… Oh lordy the things I would buy with the royalties :) But I don't and I'm broke so meh.
"Shit I cannot be late again today!" I shouted to myself from the inside of my car. I knew that with the new construction Loguetown Iron Industry was doing these next coming weeks traffic would be hell, but I didn't think it would affect my commute this much. I honked my horn at the driver in front of me who kept on breaking at every chance he got. "If you aren't going to drive get off the fucking road!" I yelled out the window.
The driver flipped me off and drove a bit down the street. At least that was something. I had to get to work. I could not be late on the day that one of the CEOs would be walking the floor to make sure everything was being run under Kreig's specifics. I pressed on the gas, and turned right on a side street. It was a few extra miles to go this route, but it would probably be quicker at the rate traffic was moving.
I sped most of the way to the factory since I was already behind on my morning routine. "I just hope no one notices I'm showing up a bit later than normal," I said to myself. I took a left turn, and saw the factory just down the street. I wasn't going to be as late as I thought! I pushed on the accelerator and passed by a school zone. I would have driven more cautious, but I didn't have the time to spare.
I drove up to a two way stop where I had the right of way. I didn't need to slow down or yield so I just sped on by, but when I looked to my left I saw some kid in a black Audi blow through the stop sign he had and almost t-bone my car. I honked as I just barely missed the ass hole and flipped him off. Teenagers these days.
I woke up to the sound of my alarm clock blaring in my ears. Same as the last 3 times in the past hour I pressed down on the snooze button to get some more sleep. I had stayed up late last night trying to finish a paper for my earth physiology class about water and air currents that I put off until the last minute. I just had too much to do that sounded like a lot more fun than writing a paper.
I felt for my phone and looked to see if I had any messages after I turned it off of airplane mode. I didn't need any more distractions when I actually started writing my paper. I scrolled through a few messages from my friends as I lied there for a few minutes. I locked my phone and looked up at my alarm clock to read 8:15. "Shit! Class starts in fifteen minutes!" I yelled as I rushed out of bed.
Where did the time go? I ran over to my closet, passed the mess I called my room, and grabbed whatever clothes were clean from the closet. I threw them on, put on my shoes, grabbed my keys from my dresser, and ran out of my room. I saw some money laying on the table for lunch and grabbed it. I ran out the door into the garage and got in my car to get going to school.
I pulled out of my drive way and looked at the clock on the radio. "I have about ten minutes to get to class. I can do this," I told myself and sped down the street, ignoring the stop sign. My dad had told me to try and leave early since there would be some traffic from the construction his work was doing around town, but that idea was pretty much out the window now. It's a good thing it only took me about 8 minutes to get to school on a good day. "I can do this!" I repeated.
Traffic wasn't as bad as what my dad made it out to be, but it was still a pain. I didn't mind passing cars who were going the speed limit while I was going well over it. I also didn't mind the honks, pissed off faces, and the "fuck you"s the people I was passing were giving me. If it got me to school on time it would all be worth it.
I pulled up to a stop sign that was just near my school and was about to stop, but I looked at the clock again to see I had 3 minutes to get to class and decided I should just blow through it. Just as I was turning right at the stop sign, a green Grand Prix drove by and I almost ran into in it. I just missed it, but heard the driver honk at me. I just shrugged it off and pulled into the parking lot of the school. "At least I wasn't late."
I wasn't as late as I thought I was going to be. When I clocked in it was about 8:35 so no one really noticed I showed up a few minutes later than what I was scheduled. At least I hoped. I walked to my machine across the floor and heard some of my other co-workers talking.
"Did you hear the rumor about the merger that might happen? It's all over the news!" Johnny asked the other two people in the group, Yosaku and Ippon.
"I think I might have heard something like that the other day when I was listening in on Gin and some other CEO. I guess they are merging with Conomi Steel works," Ippon explained.
"That must be why Kreig is doing work around town. To make room for Conomi and any workers they send over to us and some new equipment," Yosaku added.
"What are you guys doing over here? You should be working not gossiping like some housewives! You know Dragon is on the floor and is looking for anyone who isn't performing to company standards. It will not be my ass that gets written up for you dumb asses. Get back to work," Gin shouted as he walked around the floor.
"I figured he would be uptight, but this… this is a bit uncalled for," I said to myself. "Guys get busy. You don't want to get fired do you?" I reminded to the three talking to each other.
"Oh right!" Johnny said as he walked over to his machine like the other two. I sighed and walked over to my machine like the others had. Gin was still making his rounds across the floor while I worked cutting steel with the equipment. It was a pretty straightforward job. Just press the button and make sure the steel is lined up to the right length for shipping. It was going to be such an interesting day as always.
I walked out of the class room with a few of my friends as we headed for lunch. I was glad I wasn't late for school, but on the day just seemed to drag on. The teachers so far had just been going over some of our school's new policies since the new superintendent changed a few things around here. Like fifty percent of the staff.
"How do you think Mr. 5's class is going to be now that he isn't allowed to do any explosive experiments with the new rules?" Vivi asked.
"Beats me. Maybe now I'll be able to get some shut eye in class without the sounds of explosions in my ears," I replied. She sighed at my comment and I laughed. We met up with Robin and Usopp in the halls as they were leaving their class too.
"Ready for lunch?" Robin asked.
"Do you even need to ask?!" I exclaimed and hurried off to the cafeteria with the others following behind. Lunch kinda sucked here, but food was food and I couldn't get enough of it. We were some of the first few people in the room when we walked in, so we got out food and sat down at a table pretty fast.
"So what was going on with this traffic this morning? It was backed up like ten stop lights," Usopp asked.
"I guess Loguetown Iron Industry is doing some construction. I'm not sure why, but they are building on top of over 200 homes just to make room for whatever they are doing. At least that's what my dad said," I explained as I ate my food.
"Really? I guess that's the downside to living on the industrial side of town. You'll probably lose your home to construction," Vivi commented.
"I bet you'll be getting shit from some people here," Robin voiced. That's true. Every time people lose their homes to Kreig, I get the shit for it since my dad is practically his lap dog. I mean getting by in life easy was nice, but people getting pissed at me was something I could do without.
"If it comes to that, I'll kick their ass," I said bluntly. I looked across the room to see some kid walking over to their table with a pissed off look. "And here's the first contestant," I added pointing to the kid with a laugh.
"What do you think it's funny that my parents lost their home because of Kreig? Doesn't your dad work for him? Why doesn't he say something to him?" the kid ranted.
"Why don't you say something to him? It'll probably do you better than talking to the son of one his workers. It would take an idiot not to think of that," I replied snidely.
"Because you're easier to punch if you tell me something I don't like," the kid said clenching his fists.
"You're not the first kid to come up to me pissed and you're also not the first kid who dropped on their ass when they tried picking a fight. Watch yourself," Luffy threatened.
"Just you watch. One day you and your dad will get what you deserve," the kid added with a huff as he walked away to his friends.
"You could be a bit more considerate of others you know. He did just lose his home," Vivi commented.
"I could also take the heat for everything my dad doesn't do and accept it, but what's the point in that? If someone is going to take their issues out on someone, it doesn't have to be me," I explained. I picked up my tray and stood up. "I'm going to get going to class. I have some work to finish before it starts," I added as I walked away from the table. This shit gets stupider every time.
It was finally my lunch break and it could have been timed any better. Dragon was just getting ready to come to my station when Gin gave me the okay to go on break. If I was going to have to show I'm doing a good job I might as well be on a full stomach.
I took my bag of food from the fridge that was left over from yesterday and set it on the break room table. I opened it to pull out the other half of a sandwich, some chips, and a bowl of fruit. It was food for an elementary kid, but food was food. A few people walked into the break room to grab a drink or a quick bite before rushing back to work, but for the most part I was eating alone. That was until a CEO walked in.
"Roronoa Zoro?" the man asked.
"Yes?" I asked with food in my mouth.
"My name is Monkey D. Dragon. I am one of Don Kreig's direct advisors. I was walking the floor today, as you probably heard, and saw you name. I was told by Gin that you were an honest, hard worker and that you've put in a great deal of time for us here at LII," Dragon began.
"Thank you Sir, but I just enjoy the job," I lied trying to act as formal as I could for my upper.
"That's what I gathered. As you probably heard, we are preparing with a merger with Conomi Steel Works in the next few days and we are preparing some people to transfer over to the new building we are having constructed at the moment. Considering you're time with us, Gin's review of your work, and your ethic we would like to offer you a job over at the new plant as a lead of one of our divisions," Dragon explained.
"That would be great Sir, thank you! I'd be happy to take the position!" I replied with an expression somewhere between happy and shocked.
"I'm glad to hear it. Your paperwork will be finalized within the next few days. Continue your work as normal and there should be no issue in you gaining your new position. Just do keep it under wraps that we are official merging with Conomi and your new position. We do like to keep our privacy," Dragon calmly stated with an undertone of a threat.
"Of course, Sir. And thank you again," I quickly responded. Dragon walked out with a grin and I just started quietly laughing to myself in surprise. I was getting promoted! Finally after my hard work!
I looked over to the clock in my excitement to see I was scheduled to go back to work in five minutes. "I need to get going!" I told myself as I packed up my half eaten sandwich and the last of my chips. I threw them in the fridge and walked out of the break room doors.
I turned the corner of the hall and was punched in the face. I fell onto the floor and looked up to see a man, but my eyes were blurry from the blood rushing to my head from getting punch. "Who the hell…" I started, but I felt a cloth go over my mouth. I gasped and took in a deep breath of something that smelled heavily of alcohol. I felt myself getting groggy and didn't have the will to move. I felt myself being dragged across the floor and hitting my head on a door frame. I looked around trying to stay conscious, but I couldn't keep myself together. The last thing I remember seeing was a bunch of zeroes on the window the door I was being dragged passed.
The day had finally ended and I was so ready to go home. The day was just as long as the first half and all the teachers were still going over all the new changes to their classes just like the first teachers of the day. I was at my locker grabbing my things when Robin walked up to me.
"Be careful going home. I heard that kid from lunch say he was going to find you after school, and I doubt it's to apologize," Robin warned.
"Thanks, but I'll be fine. I'll see you tomorrow," I replied while grabbing my bag from my locker and closing it. I walked to the front doors of the school that led out to the parking lot where my car was. I went through the front doors and looked over to my car. Just where I parked it this morning except with a slight change. There was five guys standing by it waiting around, and it just so happened one of them was the kid from lunch.
"Great, I always wanted groupies," I said sarcastically. I really don't feel like fighting some brat who is a little hurt that he lost his home and is blaming me. "I might just walk home the other way and come back from my later" I decided. I walked down the steps of the school and began walking down the street towards my house.
"Sometimes I think it might have been easier to just not have been stuck with my dad and his job," I considered out loud, "at least then I wouldn't have kids up my ass every day getting pissed at me for something he did." I turned the corner to see a bunch of construction blocking the majority of the sidewalk. It would probably be faster just to take an alley or something.
I continued down the road a bit and found an alley that would take me passed all of the construction. I took the turn and walked down the alley I had been down it plenty of times before when I didn't want to deal with traffic after school. There was enough room for a car to fit down here so it was perfect for a quick and easy way home.
I heard a car squeal from behind me and turned around to see my car pulling into the alley behind me. "What the hell…" I started to say before I realized the car was speeding towards me. I took off running towards the break in the alley to the street just a feet away to avoid getting hit. I was just about to make it when I realized I was going to get hit. I jumped up to roll over the car instead of getting stuck under it.
The car hit me at full force and I rolled over it and landed on the other side behind it. A man got out of the car and put a rag over my mouth that tasted like heavy alcohol. I felt myself start to pass out, and also felt myself being picked up and thrown into the trunk of my car. I saw what little light that was in the alley quickly go away as the trunk shut. I faintly heard the car start and pull away before I passed out completely.
Okay there you have it! I hope you enjoyed it! Next update is soon to come!
