ANNABETH

Annabeth watched Percy throw the bronze doors open wider. This was it. She was finally going home. After two months of sleeping on dark, cold, stone floors and warding off as many monsters as she could, she was finally safe. Percy grasped her hand tighter. The doors were thrown open. She heard a scream. Then she felt many hands pulling at her, and even though she knew she shouldn't worry, she whimpered. Even in the dim torch lights around her, she had to squint her eyes. It was so long since she had seen any light. "Annabeth! Thank the gods!" Piper pulled her into a bone crushing hug. In her peripheral vision, Annabeth saw Hazel crying. Jason, Frank, Leo, and Nico hugged her too. Annabeth noticed something different, then. Percy had let go of her hand.

She looked at her dirty, cut hand. His hand really was gone. She looked frantically around. "Percy?" she said, her voice trembling. Silence fell. "Where are you?" Piper asked. Annabeth heard something, she would never forget. A shaky breath. She looked in the direction of the sound. The bronze doors were still open, and standing in front of them was Percy. Annabeth started toward him. "Are—" she started to say, but Percy came over to her, and hugged her tightly. "What are you doing?" she asked, starting to panic. If what she thought was happening, was really happening, then she SHOULD be losing her mind.

"Annabeth, I'm sorry. I'll come back to you." He said. "No!" she screamed, and grabbed his arm, digging her nails into his skin. "Somebody! Help!" she yelled, her voice breaking. Tears streamed down her face, leaving streaks in her dirty skin. None of her friends moved at all, except for Jason. He grabbed Annabeth by her shoulders and pulled her away from Percy. She kicked and thrashed, trying to break away. She screamed as loud as she could. Piper came over, either to help Annabeth or Jason. She helped Jason hold Annabeth back. Piper's arm came a few inches away from Annabeth's mouth, and Annabeth strained her neck. Her teeth came down on Piper's arm. Piper yelped, and let go of Annabeth. She twisted around, trying to kick Jason, but he was too strong. The taste of blood was in her mouth, probably from biting Piper. Percy came over to where Annabeth sat, still struggling. He put his hand on her cheek, and she stopped moving around. She looked up, and saw tears in the corners of his sea-green eyes. The sea-green eyes she would always remember.

Percy headed back over to the Doors of Death, and stood under the doorframe. "Take care f Annabeth." He said to the other demigods. They all silently nodded. Then, he looked straight at Annabeth. "I love you." Was all he said, before he closed the Doors of Death, locking him on the other side.
