Chapter I

May 4. It was May 4. Izaya's birthday. But did anyone remember? No, of course not. No one did. No one. Not his mother, not his father, not his sisters, not Shinra, Celty, Kyouhei, Mikado, Masaomi, no one.

Izaya sighed and flopped onto the park bench. His chest heaved and he wanted to cry. I mean, his friends might not know but his parents should. He didn't even care if it was his bratty sisters. He just wanted someone to know.

Lugging himself up, he trudged to his favorite sushi place.

"Izaya!" Simon called. "Sushi?"

"Yes, please~!" he replied.

"Izaya!" the Russian man bellowed

"Yes, Simon?"

"Today I have to tell something to you."

"What?" he asked hoping Simon remembered.

"Today half off sushi!" Izaya's smile dropped.

"Oh. Thanks. Uh…Simon can I cancel that? I forgot I had to meet a client," he lied, suddenly losing his appetite.

"Ok. Bye."

The raven fast and as normal as he could go. Why? Why didn't anyone know? Someone? Anyone?

He wasn't watching where he was headed and slammed straight into a figure.

"Oh, sorry," he said quietly, not looking up. He was about to go on his way when a giant arm grabbed his wrist.

"Huh?" he glanced up and looked into the face of Shizuo.

"Oh…it's just Shizu-chan."

"Oi, Izaya…"

"Hmm?"

"Isn't it your birthday? Happy birthday."

The brunette's eyes widened in shock. Someone remembered!

"How did you know…?"

"You kept being annoying about it one day in high school and I guess I didn't forget," he replied sheepishly.

Izaya burst out laughing.

"What?" Shizuo snapped angrily.

"It's just that…no one remembered. No one. Not my parents, sisters, or friends. But here you are…my enemy…the one who swore to kill me is wishing me happy birthday…"

"Yeah…weird right? One time truce. Here," he said shoving a small box wrapped in a small bow to him.

A gift? From Shizuo? Take it down in the history book!

The raven hesitated. Opening the box, there was a brand new switchblade. Izaya smiled, amused at the fact the blonde bought something for Izaya that would be used against him.

"Haha! Thank you Shizu-chan!" he beamed.

"Yeah. Now get out of here. Today is your birthday so I'm not gonna kill you. Next time we meet, I'll be sure to kill you."

"Yeah, right Shizu-chan!" he said running away with a dumb grin on his face.

Smirking, Shizuo took a drag of his cigarette and turned, making his way to the half-off Russia Sushi.
