Slightly puffed after the lengthy walk from the gate – not that she would ever admit it though – Maddy Magellan stepped through the arrival gates.

Stopping, she scanned the waiting crowd. As various passengers around her were claimed and hugged, she surveyed the mass of people for a moment longer before she sighed inwardly.

A taxi it was.

Moving toward the baggage carousel, she nudged past some people none too nicely to plant herself at the front as the siren sounded and the strips began to move.

But of course her bags weren't in the first run.

Starting to get impatient, and knocked several times when people pushed by to grab their bags, she stilled when she heard a familiar voice behind her.

"Excuse me. Sorry."

Not turning, she heard the man making his way through the people behind her.

Maintaining an innocent air, she surveyed the bags rolling on by. She kept her gaze averted as she sensed him standing beside her.

He seemed uncertain of what to say for a moment and she grinned inwardly.

"Hey," he finally managed.

She turned. "Oh, Jonathan!" she said in exaggerated surprise. "I didn't expect to see you here."

Jonathan was momentarily befuddled and she could see the cogs in his brain working hard before his eyes narrowed. "So sorry for not being here on time," he said without much genuine sympathy.

She nodded her head primly and turned back to the carousel.

She wasn't prepared for when he hugged her fiercely from behind. "Welcome home."

She felt all warm inside, and couldn't hide the smile that escaped.

Ordering Jonathan to retrieve her bag – which he did with much derision of its weight – she slipped her arm into his as they headed for the exit.

Lining up for a taxi, and not yet acclimatised to the London weather – America frankly with more sunlight and, well, sun – Maddy wrapped her arms Jonathan.

He didn't mind.

"So I'm assuming not much happened while I was gone?" she asked smoothly not long after, her head resting on his shoulder as they navigated the streets.

"I do have a life without you, you know?" he retorted without malice.

Maddy snorted. "I know, but I make it a little more exciting don't I?"

Jonathan went all mysterious. "I've had my fair share of excitement."

"Do tell," she enquired, propping her chin on his shoulder.

He wouldn't tell, instead leaning down to press his lips to hers in a long, drawn out kiss.

"No fair," protested Maddy weakly when they parted and she finally opened her eyes.

Jonathan grinned, squeezing her closer.

Finito.
