Ezra grimaced in pain as he stacked his playing cards several times before him. He to ignore the senorita standing determinedly beside him. He thought of battles both failed and won. He contemplated stealing the saloon. He imagined his mother's face if she were presented with this problem.

"Senor Standish, I must insist - "

"Fine, fine," he grumbled, finally dropping a few coins into her upturned palm. "However, Ah must again stress, senorita, that this is the most degrading practice known to man!"
