Five members of Young Justice were sitting around the living room deep in thought. Conner and M'gann were sitting together in the love seat staring at the coffee table in front of them. Across the room Artemis was laying across the green couch staring up at the celling, hands tucked behind her head. Sitting on the ground next to her was Wally. He leaned his back against the couch with his head looking up in the same manner as Artemis except his hands hugged his knees close to him. Next to the couch was an armchair with Kaldur siting in it. He had his right leg resting on his left knee and his hands were brought together in front of his mouth as he stared at the wall as if it was about to break apart and fall under his gaze.

They all were thinking about Robin. About those scars that marred his body that they had never noticed, or had the chance to. Now that they thought about it some things made sense. Like when they had gone to the beach and he wore a long sleeved rashie and refused to take it off (I know he didn't but pretend he did). After missions others would go to the changing rooms but he would always go to his personal room here at the mountain. They always thought that he was just self-conscious which, in a way, was true. They just expected him to be shy about his size or skin like any other teenager. They didn't expect him to be conscious about feakin scars!

M'gann was almost distraught seeing them. Never in her life had she seen such injuries, not even on some of the older generals in the war, and Robin was only a thirteen year old boy. It was strange to think that such a cheerful boy has such awful scars across his body. It saddened her just to think about everything the Robin had gone through to have such cruel marks along his body. She couldn't imagine it.

Conner didn't know what to think. Judging from the information given to him by Cadmus on scar tissue the earliest marks on Robin's body started from about 5 years ago to now. He remembered being told once that Robin was the first sidekick and he hadn't believed them simply because Robin was the youngest of them all, excluding himself. It was hard to think that someone so young could be the most experienced. Looking at it now he could understand how true it really was. Every time he closed his eyes he could only see Robins scarred torso as Canary dragged him out of the room. He didn't think it was right for someone as young as Robin to have all those scars.

Artemis was having an internal debate. She understood that Robin is much stronger that people think. Not only did he demonstrate it when the Reds attacked but she knew that to fight crime in Gotham you had to be strong, not only physically but mentally as well. Gotham as not a nice place to say the least. It was cruel, insane and violence is not only common but expected. But, even with that pre-knowledge and experience, nothing could have prepared her for the sight of Robin's scared body. Just thinking about it sent shivers up her spine. Sure, she had a scar here and there, you couldn't avoid scars with a family like hers, but she had never seen it to such an extent. The closest she could think of was a long time torture victim in a Hollywood film.

Kaldur is similar to M'gann in that he had never seen anyone with such injuries before nor did he ever expect them to be on his young friend. He was more understanding then her though, there was always a cost for the protection of others, but he never imagined the extent that the bird had gone to. He knows that though Robin is the youngest he has more experience than many in the crime fighting business including leaguers. He can accept that but what he doesn't understand is why Batman would continue to jeopardise Robins safety. He thought he was fine with someone so young fighting crime and in truth he was but that was before he learned just how wounded Robin had been. Now, as leader, he was trying to figure out how to best handle this situation.

Last but not least was Wally. Wally had multiple emotions running through his head, so fast that he could barely control it. One of the many emotions going through him was shame. He was meant to be Robins best friend right? Why didn't he know about all those scars? Sure, he knew about many, maybe more than Canary had but he never expected his body to be mangled to such an extent. Seeing it made him sick to the stomach and he nearly threw up then and there. He felt he betrayed Robin somehow. Like if his best friend couldn't even come to him for support, who could he come to? He knew batman was there for him and was extremely protective when he got all 'DaddyBats' but there are so many things that you just can't talk to with a parental figure. Poor robin must have been dealing with many isolated emotions.

During all this Robin was having a rare peaceful sleep. After a few hours of rest as the anaesthetic wears off he woke feeling much better than he had in days. He was in the middle of a large stretch that was (blissfully) popping the joints in his back when he recalled what was awaiting him outside the med bay doors. Sighing he slumped in his position, groaning as he thought of the pitying looks on their faces. He knew that he will have to face this sooner or later so he figured he might as well get this over with. Quick like a band aid. So with those thoughts in mind he got out of bed and reached for his torn and dis guarded shirt. Holding it up, he scowled at the damage as he came to the conclusion that the only one who could fix it now would be Alfred. He could to anything and more often than not Robin found himself staring at stitched outfits wondering how Alfred could make it seem like the tears were never there to begin with.

As Robin was looking around for a shirt the med bay doors opened and in walked Black Canary. She gave him a stare that clearly said she didn't like him walking around. With an embarrassed chuckle slowly climbed back under the sheets. He knew she was going to talk to him about the rest of the team so he figured he might as well beat her to the punch.

"I know, I know. I have to figure out what to do about the rest of the team. Bats won't let me tell them much but they have a right to know, even if they only know a little. I'll talk to them, figure something out." Robin said calmly as he looked around the med bay, avoiding her eyes.

Canary simply let out a small chuckle before walking towards the young man who was avoiding looking at her. "Well I was going to suggest that we Sick Bats onto them with the infamous bat Glare and tell them to drop it. I'm sure they will listen". This caused them both to give a chuckle at the thought of Batman entering DaddyBats mode that could scare anyone into complying.

"While that would be entertaining, they deserve something better. I don't think I could handle telling them the stories behind the scars but I can still talk to them." He said with a sad smile. Canary just smiled back at him before bring him into a hug. Rob gave a jolt of surprise before relaxed into the motherly embrace. After a few seconds Canary released him and stood back up.

"Would you like me to go and get the others?" she asked as she gestured over to the door that led to his most likely saddened teammates. Robin slumped and leaned against the headboard

"Might as well get this over with." He said, Canary only offered him a nod with a sad smile in response before she disappeared out the door. Robin closed his eyes and gave an exhausted sight making look beyond his years. This was going to be extremely hard so he took a moment to collect his thoughts.

Then the door opened.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean for it to be a cliff hanger. I just thought that I needed to split this chapter into two. As I said in this story I won't be doing stories behind the scars, maybe later on as one shots at random intervals. Anyway so sorry for the spelling and grammar, not to mention it has been forever since I updated. Actually I was looking through my files to remind myself what I had don't and hadn't done and found this one already planned out. Just need to finish writing the last part of scars before working on a secret idea/ Anniversary of Grayson's dearth.
