POV Katniss

After we clean up Haymitch and drag his ass to one of the cot Peeta looks worn out a bit. "Hey how are you holding up?" I nudge him

"How the hell do you carry people like that and everyday too?" he leans on me, I chuckle.

"Come on let's go downstairs looks like you need food and sit on a couch for a bit plus I think the guys are about to start playing Guitar Hero, Jo and me are the best and kick anyone's ass" I hold out my hand to him and take him down stairs where Jo and one of the guys are setting up the game "I get to play anyone who is brave enough to challenge me" I shout when we get down to the living room, it smells heavenly even though the fire house is mostly guys they put me and jo to shame by their cooking skills.

"What smells so good?" Peeta takes a huge whiff of the air "Who cooking so I can hire them, I would love coming in my apartment smelling this." He looks at me "No wonder you like working here are these guy's chefs or firefighter"

I look up at him "Well these guy have to learn to cook because we all have one night to cook and believe it or not my night and Jo's night are probably the only nights we have left over don't get me wrong they like it but I guess not that much"

Jacob comes into the room, "Trust me sometimes it's better having left overs than eat what they have made"

I throw the closest thing to me, which is water bottle about a quarter full, as I'm about to throw it I get it taken away from me. I look over my shoulder and see our totally smashed chief finally awake "Well, well, well about time sleeping beauty to wake up" I turn around to look at him.

"Watch it Everdeen I can still suspend you" he looks at me with exasperated look "You guys are worse than a couple of college kids"

Peeta looks up from where he went to sit down and eating already "Hey! Even me!"

Haymitch looks at me with doubt, like he doesn't really see Peeta. So he watches Peeta closely as he comes to stand next to me, then Haymitch says to me "Did I drink some really bad moonshine or is Peeta Mellark the pitch of the Oakland Athletics really here next to you and none the less holding you?"

I wrap my arm around his waist and smiling I look up at Peeta admiring his strong jaw "No he's really here" that sobers him up almost instantly

"what the fuck did I miss? Since when is a Pro-Athlete at our petty little fire house like ours?"

"well since I met a firefighter that happens to work here and when I'm not traveling she's here so I thought this would be a quite nice place to be where I can spend time and talk to her" Peeta looks down at me with the bluest eyes that till this day take my breath away, he looks up at Haymitch "but if it's too much of a hassle I could always find somewhere else we can meet?"

"no, no it's alright pretty boy can stay, I'm about to go up to my office and Everdeen I need you to come up and I need to talk to you after you're done sucking faces with this one" Haymitch points to Peeta.

I roll my eyes at him "yeah yeah I'll be right up" I turn to Peeta "go on ahead and finish eating you were practically inhaling that chili go enjoy it" I push him towards the table "and if you want more just eat mine, I can grab a sandwich"

He looks a little worried at me. "are you sure?'

"yeah he probably wants to do the monthly time off days don't worry about it "I start heading up the stairs "Jo keep an eye on him"

"sure think Kat" she turns to Peeta "He, Pete, want to see what happens when guys get beat by a video games"

I go up to the chief's office I see a girl there in a uniform "Hey chief what's up?"

"Katniss this is Officer Delly Cartwright and she has asked to personally work with you on these suspicious fires" Haymitch takes a swig of his bottle

"um sure but why would you want to work with me?" I ask a bit suspicious "I'm not even the leading firefighter here"

"well let's just say your very close to something I've had my eye on" she says a little bit menacingly
