4. Basil's true name –In my headcanon, the reason why all CEDEF members have names related to herbs is because they're codenames, which they receive upon joining. Only the CEDEF head and those who knew them prior to joining know their real names, although they may pass it to those they trust with their lives.

.

8. Furthest left fork –In Continental/ European-style etiquette, the furthest left fork is used for fish. Differences may apply, but letting the handles of one's utensils touch the table is always regarded as rude.

.

9. Lal's test –My headcanon. Admission into the CEDEF requires the candidates to pass a battery of tests from an existing member of at least Rank 3 (the Ranks being 1 to 7, Class S), while being witnessed by another member. (Of course, any candidate to be tested must either be vouched for by a high-ranking Vongola/ CEDEF member or undergo an extensive background check in the first place.) The higher the Rank of the examiner, the higher the Rank of the new member once h/she passes. For example, Lal being a Rank 7 Class S member means Haru joins as a Rank 4.

After passing the physical tests, the new member will also undergo independent screening by 3 psychiatrists attached to CEDEF to test for mental fitness, as well as have the documented details of their testing reviewed by the CEDEF head and Secretariat. This is to prevent someone buying their way through. Then, the new member will then be given a 5-day preparation consisting of a HQ tour, protocol debriefing, lecture of CEDEF's framework and history, arrangement of living quarters as well as assignment and introduction to their team. Meanwhile, CEDEF's Human Resources Department will be wiping any trace of their existence systematically and creating new identities for them. Finally, they will receive their codenames in the official ceremony; which they rehearse for 3 hours prior.

Tradition means they will receive congratulatory gifts from any of the persons related to their induction as a sign of blessing. Iemitsu's administration means there'll be a rip-roaring feast after the ceremony instead of a dignified tea.
