A half-lit room, and her lips pressed lightly against the back of your neck as she slips her hands under your dress, over your shoulders, sliding the dress off. Kisses down the nape of your neck, across your right shoulder as her hands move around to gently cup your breasts. Kneading, brushing thumbs over nipples. You lean back into her, moaning quietly under your breath.
Coming home at the end of the day, she's waiting for you on the couch, a glass of wine on the table. It's been a long day and she knows it. You pull your hair down and you throw on sweats and a jumper. Crash onto the couch next to her, nuzzle in. Her arm wraps around you holding you close as you complain, and vent, and she hands you the wine, and kisses your temple and you melt. You smile at her and ask her how her day was, and lose your anger in watching her face light up as she tells you how wonderful it was. You leave half of the wine on the table, and barely stop kissing all the way to your bedroom. You make love, slowly, softly, and fall asleep wrapped up in each other.
She takes the newspaper out of your hands and replaces it with a plate. She kisses the top of your head and says, 'you need to eat' you open your mouth to protest and grumble and complain about your weight and before you get out a single word she says 'you look beautiful, and our baby needs to eat' you can't help but melt at the thought of 'our baby' and eat everything on the plate. You don't even complain about the decaf coffee that morning.
You've both been expecting a boy. So when she's a girl, you're a little surprised, but happily so. You sit together on the hospital bed, and she pulls her laptop out of her bag. She turns on skype and you call your parents, and your best friends. Introduce them to newest member of their family.
Later on, when you think she's asleep in the chair, and your daughter is asleep, and it's dark and silent in the hospital, you find the courage to whisper, 'I'm terrified' and she quietly responds 'so am I' she climbs up onto the bed and you fall asleep holding each other, trying not to dream about thoroughly screwing up her life.
All these images fly through your mind in the space of one sideways glance at her. And then when you truly look at her look into her eyes, you see the first time you introduce her to your parents properly. You know your friends will, once they get over the shock, be happy for you. And you know that they will love her. Your parents however...you know they won't disown you, but you can see it being a source of conflict. And then she's saying, hey where have you gone? And she's smiling at you, and you think, it doesn't matter, because you'll be happy, and they love you.
