I know this is a short update, but I still needed to get it out there before I lost it... Merry Christmas! xx

Monk came to an hour later. An ambulance was called to take Yasu, who was bleeding badly, but was going to be fine. Mr Hitachi was being kept asleep.

Mai was now dressed, but she couldn't stop crying.

"Its my fault..." Mai whispered, her eyes red and swollen. "Its my fault. Its my fault"

"No Mai, its not" Naru scolded softly, handing her a cup of tea, and sitting on the chair next to her, wanting desperately to comfort her, but knowing it would only make things worse.

"It was!" Mai cried, covering her eyes with her arm, gritting her teeth against the painful guilt stabbing her all over. "I don't even know her name..."

"Who's name Mai?" Naru asked.

"The woman who lived here and Mr Hitachi's mistress" Mai cried, her voice harsh and cold. "She was so scared, and she was all alone... She was the one who put the blanket around me, and she tried to save me but-" Mai's throat caught, and she wept again. She gripped the tea cup, looking down at it. She took a deep breath, and shakily brought the cup to her lips. The smell of the tea was rather familiar, and it did calm her slightly. It was cinnamon.

"Mai, can you tell me what happened?" Naru questioned, hating to have to ask her, but it would be better to find out everything now, then to force her to relive it later. Mai knew this, and so looked out at the window, not able to make eye contact with anyone. She hugged her shoulders.

"I don't really know... One minute I was in the shower, and the next, I was being dragged by my hair, and I was gaged before I could cry out for help..." Mai started, tears welling again for the nth time in the last hour. "Mr Hitachi... He tried to-"

"Did he touch you?!" Ayako asked, suddenly in front of Mai, looking for her answer in her eyes. Mai nodded meekly, before crying in her hands.

"His mistress tried stopping him, before it got too bad, and he killed her!" Mai cried, voice breaking. "She just tried to help me, and know she's dead, and its all my fault..." Mai looked like she was going insane, and with little choice, Naru pulled Mai into his arms.

"No Mai, this isn't your fault" Naru cooed, hugging Mai against his chest. Mai didn't care anymore, that it was Naru embracing her and not her boyfriend. She cried against his chest for what felt like hours.

When she could cry no longer, Naru stroked her hair, whispering "It will all be ok" in her ear. An overwhelming guilt fell on his shoulders. He had brought her here...

Yasu was hospitalised, and was prohibited from leaving for the next few days. With the case getting dire, they did not have time to wait for him to recover.

An exorcism needed to be preformed on Mr Hitachi, because the thing that had overtaken him was not a spirit of the dead, but a servant of Lucifer. There was nothing to save, but with the exorcism stood large risks. Most demons don't just appear, there has to have been a dark past in which one was summoned, and some bring with it spirits. Even if this one came alone, this exorcism was going to be very dangerous, and potentially deadly to the priest. No one was able to ask that of John. Though it seemed no one needed to. John offered to...

Naru sat at his desk, working out the houses history, and the history of the land. Nothing came up.

"We need to do something" Monk broke the silence that had loomed over base, and sighed. Mai had finally stopped crying, but her eyes held so much unrest and hurt, that no one could stand it. They needed to finish this case now.

"We don't want to be reckless" Naru interjected, his voice raised in worry. "I cannot guaranty safety if we continue as is" Naru looked at Mai, who had fallen into a nightmare riddled sleep, her head resting on Naru's lap.

"But Mai was almost-" Monk started, before Naru interrupted coldly.

"I know that!" Naru scolded, eyes flashing. "We are all targets, but his intentions towards Mai are barbaric and far worse. However, Yasu has been seriously hurt and someone was killed"

"That's why we need to end this soon!" Monk argued, not willing to take this anymore. "I will finish this myself if I have to"

And with that, he stalked out the room.
