A/N: Oh my gods don't kill me! So sorry for this LOONNGGG wait. I promise to update more, summer's close anyway. Anyway, consider this as a Christmas gift.

….

It was morning. Bright light made me shut my eyelids as soon as I opened them. Had I overslept? Didn't matter though; I felt like jumping for joy because no Tributes killed me in my sleep, I was bloody, well alive. (Obviously.)

You know it's a sad existence if the fact that you're still breathing makes you feel happy. Not that I was denying anything.

I pushed my dark thoughts away. Shut up, Harry! I thought. You're acting like a bloody angsty teenager.

That I was. No! Without the first part.

Just to stop my internal debate with myself, I got up, and decided to look around for a stream. Grabbing my neon green backpack (Once again, why neon?)

After an hour or two, I finally managed to find one. Being cautious for once, I dipped a stick in the water. It didn't disintegrate like the water was acid. That was always a good sign. I dipped my water bottles in it, and put a few drops of iodine in it. Better safe than sorry.

I drank with relish, and refilled it again. I took note of the stream's location. It was vital to have a water source at hand, after all. Was it selfish of him to wish that no one else would find it?

A bit, yes but considering they were out for my blood, I think that in this case, it was needed.

So… what's next? I ticked out water source in my mental list. Food, oh yeah.

Hmmm.I guess I could just kill some poor squirrel or any other thing I came across.

I wasn't so sure with the plants, though. I might eat something that was actually horribly poisonous. Take nightlock as an example, it really did look like innocent blueberries.

What did my old teacher say again back in Muggle school? I think it was something about the more colourful the plants you find, the more dangerous.

I had instantly thought of flowers.

Anyway, where's Katniss? I should look for her. I mean, she was my only ally or friend even, here.

I let out a sigh.

Curse this stupid arena. Somehow, it reminded me of the Forbidden Forest.

For some reason, I still can't believe they made all this with technology. Even magic couldn't to do that, not back in my time, anyway.

I remember Hagrid saying, "The things Muggles dream up, eh?"

You have no idea, I thought.

I continued walking.

I was tired. I was very tempted to use a Sonorus charm, and yell out, "Katniss! Where are you?"

Unfortunately, it would also mean certain death for me. I decided to call it a day, and go back to my river. I looked out for the things I had noted so that I could find my water supply again. Like a certain tree, a pile of bright- colored and poisonous mushrooms, and that pile of rocks. Which means that all I had to do was just walk straight for a bit…

Imagine my surprise when I saw an olive-skinned girl whose hair was braided to the side, looking exhausted as I felt, and dipping her hand into the water.

I approached quietly, not making a sound.

"Katniss," I said.

She instantly drew her knife, ready to flee. Or fight, my mind added.

"It's me, Harry. You know, your ally."

She drew a sigh of relief.

"Good. It's just you."

"Expecting someone else? A blood- thirsty Tribute, perhaps?"

"Actually, I did," she replied.

"I'm just teasing. It's great to see someone who doesn't want to kill you the first thing when they've spotted you."

"Agreed," said Katniss.

I eyed her more prominent cheekbones. "Dinner?"

"Yes, please."

Luckily, I had still had some crackers left.

"So, how have you been?" I began awkwardly as Katniss broke off a bit of crackers.

"I've been better, but it could've been worse," she said, chewing a cracker.

"Same here."

I watched as she finished it off.

"Katniss," he started. "Let's promise to never separate again."

Katniss stared at me with several different emotions that I couldn't quite discern.

Then she smiled at me. It was a huge change from her normally closed- off or brooding expressions.

"Of course."

We shook hands.

Little did we know that this promise was going to take a lot of effort and coming hardships for Katniss and me. We didn't know that we were going to have a very… interesting encounter the very next morning.

Lovely.

What a very good wake up call. (Note my sarcasm.)

I wanted to swear at Katniss for that horribly abrupt awakening. That was when I realised something.

I looked at a panicked and distressed Katniss's face, and made my blurry and still sleep-filled eyes to take a look at my surroundings. Then I also became panicked and distressed.

Oh my.

I was surrounded by grinning Tributes. Careers.

They weren't grinning in a mischievous or happy way. It was in a blood-thirsty one. Like prey finding a helpless predator.

Yes, I was officially screwed. I hoped that Portia would forgive me for wasting her hair gel.

I shook my head these were very strange mental last words. Concentrate, Harry. Distract them, I thought.

I grinned at them shakily and said, "Well, nice to meet you. My name's Harry. We haven't been introduced properly."

They looked at me disbelievingly. Something like "Is this guy serious or just plain crazy?" probably going on in their heads. A blonde girl whose name was Sparkles or some other adjective or noun connected to jewelry; gave another blonde bloke a look.

I absently grabbed Katniss's shoulders, and stirred her forward whilst ignoring the look of incredulity in her features.

"This is Katniss. You know, the girl on fire and all that jazz," I said while discreetly taking slow, subtle steps backwards.

"Be ready to run. We can climb a tree if they catch up with us," I whispered to Katniss.

They gave me more weird looks, temporarily stunned. Shame, it wasn't permanent.

"And I know, you might want to talk more, particularly with Katniss, but," I looked at my wrist, pretending that there was an invisible wrist watch, and making a show of staring at it as if I was considering something.

"Look at the time. Still have a lot of stuff to do… RUN, Katniss!"

We ran. I even managed to wave a farewell at them.

We were almost halfway to a huge tree when they seemed to snap out of their reverie, and came after us.

"Suckers!" I yelled back at them.

"Harry," reprimanded Katniss. "Life or death situation here."

"Oh, right," I said.

It was a good thing that we were very agile and fast.

We ran into another clearing.

"Did we lose them?" I panted to Katniss.

She gave a look back. "I think…"

There were loud footfalls.

"Nope," they stared determinedly at a tree. We were already out of breath, and slowing down.

"Ever climbed a tree before, Harry?"

"Yes."

"Good," said Katniss, starting to climb. I did the same.

The Careers rapidly caught up with us, but by then, we were already safely high up the tree.

A guy tried to climb it, but failed miserably.

The girl (Sparkles or Shimmer, whatever) tried to use the bow and arrow, and also, failed.

"Why don't you throw a sword, instead," yelled Katniss.

"Yeah, Glitter, borrow that guy's," I joined and pointed at the blonde guy next to her.

We took a look at each other, and started to laugh.

Life or death situation or not, it was fun. I wasn't alone and the Careers had very amusing reactions, and for a moment I could almost pretend that Katniss and I were just normal friends bating bullies or something.

And the reactions were priceless. This was probably the first and most likely, only time that I was grateful for the cameras.

Soon, watching them shooting frustrated and murderous looks at me and Katniss eventually got boring. I rolled over (As much as I could with me being in the tree and all.), and fell in a deep sleep.

To be only woken by a pair of eyes watching us, hours later….

A/N: You can guess who they'll be meeting next chapter. You'll be seeing next chapter soon. I hope. Oh, and forgive the embarrassing grammar failures and spelling mistakes.
