Tamsin slowly opened her eyes and attempted to adjust to the brightness around her. Everything was a blurry shade of white until her eyes focused on the monitor beeping beside her. The dark color centered her sight allowing it to gradually normalize. She was in some type of hospital room but it was bare except for her bed, the monitor and another device she couldn't place.
"Shit!" She cried out as she attempted to sit up, a piercing pain shooting across her abdomen.
Suddenly the events that were the cause of her being hospitalized flashed through her mind. Sending her friends on a wild goose chase, fighting draugr, Bo sucking the life from her body.
She sighed and and leaned back against the pillow behind her. "Bo..." she said mournfully.
"Gone I'm afraid. No one's been able to find her since she killed you."
Isis came gliding through the door of the room looking even more radiant than Tamsin remembered. She was dressed surprisingly simple in jeans and a white tshirt, her dreadlocks piled into a messy bun on top of her head. If she hadn't already known the woman was a goddess she would have assumed she was simply an unusually beautiful human.
"A bit dressed down aren't we?"
"I've learned to be a bit more subtle at times," Isis said with a chuckle. "How are you? Clearly not dead."
"Yes. Seems I can attribute that to your blood coursing through my veins?"
"A minor ritual that bestowed some of my abilities to you. You died, but my essence allowed you to be reborn despite the end of your life cycle."
Tamsin shuffled a bit and sat forward, "So I've been granted another full life cycle?"
"Yes, valkyrie along with my powers means that you will live a very long time."
Tamsin felt the tears before her mind registered that she was crying. She didn't realize how much being alive meant to her until mortality began to rear its ugly head. Now she had time to enjoy her new found friends and love. Love...
"You said Bo is missing?" She said as she wiped her face quickly.
"Yes, from what I understand she was long gone by the time your friends found you. Dyson and Hale have been using all of their resources but she hasn't turned up."
"She won't be found unless she wants to be. It's a skill she learned from all of those years of running."
Isis sat at the edge of the bed and lightly patted Tamsin's leg. "We will find her. It's not her fault what happened."
"She won't see it that way. Her mind was being controlled by her succubus side but the regular Bo was still there. She'll take this as a sign that she was too weak to defeat herself."
"Who is a tougher adversary than oneself?" Isis said with a sad smile.
Before she could respond Tamsin broke out into a huge grin. Kenzi was walking into the room with way more balloons than were needed. Lauren followed behind.
"My favorite doctor and my favorite goth. To what do I owe the pleasure?"
"Kill the sarcasm wench, we know how happy you are to see us," Kenzi said a she tied the balloons to the bed. "Excuse me Isis, I need to get to my other bestie over here."
Isis chuckled as she made room for Kenzie to get by.
"First name basis with The Ash are we," Tamsin said as she gladly allowed Kenzi to wrap her in a hug. "When did that happen."
"Young Kenzi here is quite charming actually. And she helped Lauren get you back into working order."
"Yes, Kenzi was a very good nurse. We might have to get her to come help down here at the clinic," Lauren replied as she went to the other side of Tamsin's bed to give her a hug as well. "We let the guys know to come down when they get a chance. Really happy to see you're okay."
Tamsin cleared her throat at an attempt to conceal her joy at the doctor's words. She was really happy to see them both, more than she ever expected.
"I'll leave you all to catch up. Tamsin, you and I will talk later," Isis said with a wave.
"That lady is dynamite. If I were into women, I'd be all over her," Kenzi said with a smirk.
"Like you could handle all of that mighty mouse," Tamsin said with a gentle shove. "How long have I been out?"
"A month. At first we thought you were gone for sure but when we hooked you up to the monitors your vitals were strong, you just wouldn't wake up," Lauren said pulling up a chair.
"Like Sleeping Beauty, only older and more surly," Kenzi interjected.
Tamsin snarled at her and the younger woman laughed. "So, Bo really disappeared?"
Lauren nodded, "When we found you I couldn't find a pulse. Trick was able to bring up video of what happened. Bo was distraught the minute she stopped feeding from you. Started attacking herself."
"Attacking herself?"
"Yeah, it was like she was trying to beat the succubus out of her. It was hard to watch," Kenzi said, her voice trembling.
"We need to find her. I thought if I allowed her to drain me that the good Bo would break free and stop it. I didn't expect to die.."
"But you knew it was possible or else you wouldn't have consumed the blood of Isis," Lauren said with an eyebrow raised. "She told me in order to make sure I was able to bring you back properly."
Tamsin looked at her quizzically. "I didn't just come back?"
Kenzi rolled her eyes, "Oh no missy, there was a ritual and the whole nine yards. Next time try not to get killed after drinking the blood of a god, its too much work."
Tamsin grabbed Kenzi and Lauren's hands. The two women appeared startled by her grip but didn't pull away.
"I just want to thank you both for being my friend. I know I'm difficult and surly and nice when it suits me. But I've come to love you both and I promise to make the best of this lifetime."
Kenzi was the first to pull her in for a hug, then Lauren joined in.
"Woah! Now this is a three way I can get behind," Dyson came walking in, his voice and body filling up the room.
"You're real funny dog boy. Don't make me get my newspaper to smack your nose," Tamsin said folding her arms.
"Hey, why do they get all the nice talk and I get abused," Dyson said with a grin. "I missed your sarcastic ass. How ya feeling partner?"
"Like I died."
"Well it seems you woke up just in time. I found Bo."
Lauren stood up. "Is she okay? Where has she been?"
"Believe it or not, right under our 's been using her powers to keep people quiet and to stay wherever she wants. Apparently she's been frequenting this dive bar right on the edge of town the.."
"Indigo," Tamsin said finishing his sentence. "That used to be my favorite bar up until she disappeared the first time."
"Well Hale and I are going to go see if she's there tonight."
"No, let me go. I should be the first one she sees. Right now in her mind I'm dead, I need her to know I'm okay."
Kenzi reached out to touch her, concern in her eyes. "Are you sure? You just woke up. I want Bo Bo back more than anybody but you need to recover."
"I'm okay Kenz. My body shut down so that I could rest and I'm good. There's some aches here and there but it's gonna take more than that to keep me from her."
"Let her go, she'll be fine. I've been watching her stats since we came in and everything is good," Lauren said with a smile.
Her three friends all turned to her expectantly. Tamsin was in more pain than she was letting on but she didn't expect a fight from Bo. The succubus was defeated and sad, she hoped that if anything there would be a makeout session in their future instead of violence. Even so, she was going to go back to her place and get a few things.
"Alright then. I'm gonna go get our girl."
A/N : Story is definitely winding down but I think I got at least one more good love scene and some angst left in me. Stay tuned for the conclusion!
