Yay another chapter! This one didn't take as long as I feared. :D

So we've got one more chapter after this which will be the epilogue. I'm sad to say that Savior is coming to a close. I'm super proud of myself though because this is my longest fic ever. Mostly I get to chapter 6 and run out of steam. This will be 13 chapters, including the epilogue! Wooo!

Alec arrived at Magnus's apartment within twenty minutes as he predicted he would. He used his key to open the door. As he entered Chairman Meow trotted over to him and proceeded to rub against his leg in a familiar hello. He smiled and bent down to pick up the incredibly small cat and held him against his chest. "Where's Magnus, Chairman?" he asked the cat softly as he scratched behind the cat's ears. His answer was a deep, pleased purr.

Alec looked up when he spotted a flash of color coming into the room. Magnus was leaning against the wall looking at the pair with a sweet smile. Alec let the Chairman go gently and walked over to his amazing boyfriend. He wrapped his arms around Magnus's waist and leaned against the taller man. "I'm so sorry Mag," he whispered into Magnus's shoulder.

Magnus wrapped his arms around Alec in turn and kissed his hair softly. "It's okay, love. We have a lot to talk about, that much is clear." Alec looked up into the most mesmerizing green/yellow eyes that he'd ever seen. He nodded and loosened his hold on Magnus. He gently led him over to the couch and he sat down on the pink upholstery, pulling Magnus down beside him.

"Okay, um, I know you said over the phone that you'd be there for me as long as I want you." Magnus nodded in agreement. "I want you to be there for me always. I need you to help me through this Magnus. I can't do this alone."

"I know, babe." Magnus reached over and began rubbing soothing circles on Alec's back. "I am here for you, always. I can't imagine my life without you now Alec. You mean everything to me."

Alec smiled and leaned over to kiss Magnus chastely. "I've relapsed once already and I need you to help me not relapse again. I'm not going to like it always, I'll throw fits like a toddler, I'll say awful things. I won't mean a bit of it. Withdrawal sucks and it is the hardest part about recovery."

"Do you need to go back to rehab or do you think you can handle this outside of rehab?"

Alec shook his head. "I can do this without medicine. As long as you're there to help me and hold my hand along the way."

As if to ensure that he would, Magnus took his hand off of Alec's back and grabbed his hand with it. "I'm here for you."

"I love you," Alec murmered.

Magnus smiled, his whole face lit up with those simple words. "I love you too, darling." He pulled the smaller man into a fierce hug.

Two years later

Magnus paced nervously in the Institute's living room. He held a small velvet box in his hands as he nervously twisted the box.

"Magnus, stop pacing. He'll be here, everything will be fine," Isabelle said from the couch.

Magnus turned to look at her. "How can you be so calm?"

"Because I'm not the one proposing." She smiled at him playfully and stood next to him. "It's okay. You guys have been through hell and back. He's stuck with you through the toughest time in his life. He loves you Magnus and he'll say yes. I know it."

"What will I say yes to?"

Magnus and Isabelle turned to face Alec who had just walked into the room. Magnus quickly hid the box from sight and put on a smile. "Just a question I have for you."

Isabelle excused herself and left the pair alone. Magnus walked up to Alec and pulled him into a loving kiss. "I love you, you know that right?"

Alec blushed and nodded. "Yeah. What's going on? What'd you need to ask me?"

Magnus kissed him again and then slid down on one knee. Alec's face showed nothing but pure shock at the sight before him. "Mag?"

Magnus took Alec's hands in his and looked up at his beautiful lover. "Alexander Gideon Lightwood, I love you more than words can describe. These past two years have been some of the best of my life. Despite all the struggles we've been through we're still going strong. We've already promised each other that we would be together until the end. Let's make that promise public." He paused to take a calming breath. "Alexander, will you marry me?"

Alec blinked a few times, not quite taking in what was being said. When his brain finally caught up he nodded. "Yeah, I guess, since you asked so nicely." He laughed at his lame attempt to make Magnus less nervous.

Magnus cracked a smile and couldn't hold back a laugh. He pulled out the ring, having completely forgotten about it during the actual proposal. "Good thing you said yes, I'd hate to have to return this." He slid the ring on Alec's left hand and then stood to kiss his fiancé.

Their moment was broken by the clapping of Alec's family. Alec looked over at them and blushed a cherry red. Isabelle squealed and ran over to hug her brother. "Oh my god, I'm so happy for you guys!" After she released her death-grip the rest of Alec's family moved in to give their congratulations, sans Robert.

Robert Lightwood had walked out on Alec's family shortly after his relapse. No one knew why, he was just there one day then gone the next. He left a note for Maryse that she hadn't shared with the rest of them. But enough of Robert, they were better off without him.

Maryse hugged her son and murmered in his ear. "I'm so happy for you. You deserve your happily ever after with Magnus."

Alec smiled and thanked her. She let him go and hugged Magnus. Alec looked down at the ring on his hand. For some reason the finger that it was hugging was hyperaware of the cool metal against it. It was a simple silver band with a green/yellow stone inlaid into the band. He loved it. It reminded him of Magnus's eyes, it was the exact color.

Magnus wrapped his arms around Alec's waist and kissed his cheek. "Do you like it?"

Alec nodded and smiled at his fiancé. "I love it. I love you."

Magnus kissed him sweetly and murmered, "I love you too, my Alexander."

Yeah, so I didn't plan this out it just sort of happened. I hope you guys enjoyed it.

I'm thinking the next chapter will be their wedding and maybe a few years afterwards. Who knows?
