Yes, I know I am terrible for not updating this in nearly a year but I was at a lost point with this, I have to be honest. However, I made a promise to you all that I wouldn't give up on a story and I will not break that promise! In truth I was going to make this a lot shorter for a chapter but I decided to do a wrap up for you all since you have been very patient! Thank you for all the favourites, reviews and follows off you guys! Cupcakes to all and I hope you enjoy the final chapter of Recovery!
A few hours later, Bunny peeped back into the room to see Jack staring back at him. His eyes widened in horror at what he saw. Jack's white hair was tipped with black, his skin was a sickly grey and his eyes were tinged with yellow. The black veins on his neck were clearly seen now and red marks could be seen where he had been pulling on the bonds. A snarl could be seen on his face and it made Bunny shiver.
"Yup, Pitch has definitely got nightmare sand in him. It's the only other explanation," Bunny said as he looked back at the others.
They had had a small talk after witnessing the screams and from the clues given off, it could only be concluded that Pitch was trying to convert Jack into his own personal slave. He had done that to adults in the Dark Ages as they were the easiest to manipulate. Never before had he done it to a child. At least not until now. Man in Moon had of course provided a solution for this but the Guardians were too scared to try it. Manny had warned them that if the will of the nightmare possessed person was too weak, then the body would fail. However, since there was no other option for this, they had no choice but to use the spell to release Jack. Then when that happened, Pitch would be brought forward and Sandy would deliver the final blow.
"I am not sure this is such a good idea," Tooth admitted.
"Like it or not, it's the only option we have," North said gravely. Bunny took in a deep breath before pushing open the door and stepping inside with the others following him. They winced at Jack's appearance but the albino only smirked.
"Well, if it isn't the Guardians. You guys look more stupid than usual," Jack sneered. However, they all knew that this wasn't Jack talking. It was Pitch controlling his mind.
"Shut it! We know that you have a hold of him Pitch and we're gonna get you out," Bunny said with a glare and Jack sniggered at that.
"How are you going to do that Rabbit? I will take his body for my own and use it to amplify my nightmares even more! That is why I tested his body with those methods to save you all. I needed to test him," he said sadistically.
In response, North held up an old spell book but was careful not to lose the page he needed as he was the one to read it. quite frankly, he tried to ignore what was just said as did everyone else. All of this was happening because they couldn't break free and save Jack for hurting himself for them. it was frustrating and saddening to hear. However, Jack's smile disappeared when he saw it but then shrugged.
"You'll never do it. You don't have the guts. Much like when you couldn't use magic to save your species," Jack said and Bunny felt a large pang in his chest when that was said. It was true that he was the last of his kind as Pitch had been the one to wipe them all out. He wasn't as strong back then so he couldn't do much against the nightmares.
"How dare you?!" Tooth sad angrily.
"You can talk! You didn't do anything against that Monkey King did you?" Jack snarled. Tooth almost cried when he said that. She had taken the role of the Tooth Fairy when she changed her form when under the imprisonment of the evil King. He had killed her parents and put her as the evil on due to her appearance. He was dead now but that didn't bring her parents back.
"Enough! You may know of our horrible pasts but they made us stronger. You are not Jack and we will cast this spell for him. We know he will pull through because he is strong. Stronger than all of us combined," North said bravely.
"Nothing you say will put us off," Bunny said and he almost smiled when he saw the cockiness fade in Jack's eyes.
"Oh stars far and wide in the heavens. May your holy light fall down upon us," North started chant. Those two lines clearly had an effect on Pitch as he started to squirm uncomfortably. Sandy noticed that a cold temperature had entered the room as well as an unsettling feeling.
"Here we go," Tooth said nervously.
"I call upon the mighty ruler of the stars to let your power vanish the evil among us. Let us be free of this evil upon our lives. Free the one embedded in the darkness," North continued on.
This had a shocking effect as a piercing scream left Jack's mouth as he started thrashing about on the bed. The walls in the room started to shake and cries from the yetis could be heard throughout the Pole. The guardians looked around in horror but North knew he couldn't stop no matter how bad it got.
"Oh thou evil spirit, come forth and receive your punishment from the heavenly stars. You shall hurt us no more and you will receive the final judgement from the ruler himself!" North said loudly above the noise.
Jack's screaming got louder and Bunny saw him look over and he was immediately shocked. Jack's innocent look was back despite the pain and was looking at him desperately.
"Please let me go now! You're hurting me, you're killing me!" Jack pleaded. Bunny was about to go over and help as he saw how much pain he was in but Sandy and Tooth pulled him back. Bunny resisted at first until Tooth smacked him and Sandy shook him to snap him out of it.
"Bunny, that's not Jack! Pitch is using him to free himself! If he wants to come out, then he'll have to be forced out by the spell or if he comes out on his own. Only then will the pain stop!" Tooth shouted over the screams. It pained her to hear it too but she knew it had to be done. Bunny then turned away as he knew she was right but he couldn't stand to see Jack like that.
"Get out of me!" Jack screamed and everyone looked at him in astonishment.
"Oh God, he's fighting from the inside! He hasn't given up yet! Keep going North!" Bunny yelled in excitement.
"Come Sweet Tooth, you can do it!" Tooth encouraged as she watched Jack toss his head around as if shaking off water. The spell was indeed working as Bunny could see the blackness in his hair fading, as well as the veins starting to come out of his skin in black sand. His eyes and skin were also returning to normal too.
"Keep it up Jack, you're almost there!" Bunny shouted and Sandy was waving his arms about in encouragement as he couldn't do much else.
"I implore you oh might one, release the innocent and banish thou evil for eternity. Now come forth and seal your fate!" North screamed,
"GET OUT!" Jack yelled and with one final thrash on his body, a large jolt of sand appeared and hit the side of the wall. Everyone turned to see Pitch forming and holding his chin. He was not in good condition as that spell had taken a toll on him more than Jack.
"You fools! You could have killed me!" Pitch yelled.
"That was the idea! Now you'll pay for what you did! Finish him off Sandy!" Tooth declare and Sandy didn't even need to be told twice as he cast a large wave of golden sand over Pitch. He screamed as the sand consumed his body entirely and North gave the final line.
"I send you into the abyss evil one! Let your fate be judged by the stars!" North finished. Pitch gave one final scream as the ball of sand holding him blew apart. Everyone shielded their eyes as a large light appeared. It only lasted for a few seconds as Pitch's scream echoed around the Pole. When they light died away, there was no sign of Pitch.
"Did…it work?" Tooth asked slowly. Sandy closed his eyes for a moment as he scanned the Pole for any sign of a nightmare but smiled when he found no traces of it anywhere. North and Bunny almost cheered but they realised that they hadn't seen if Jack survived the spell yet.
"Jack!" North yelled. They all rushed over to him to see him lying there motionless with his eyes wide open, moving and unblinking. No one spoke for a moment as they feared the worst but then Bunny spoke out.
"Don't die Frostbite!" he yelled and Jack's chest inhaled a rush of air as he breathed in deeply. The Guardians all gasped but then let out sighs of relief as Jack looked around.
"What the hell?! Oh man, no one kissed me did they? I'll never live that down!" Jack said with a groan. Bunny laughed loudly and Jack rolled his eyes.
"No one kissed ya. I'd have to cut off my tongue," Bunny joked but then realised how bad that sounded. Jack didn't even seem fazed though.
"Nah, I'd wash it out with soap. If I can't talk, how am I supposed to annoy you?" Jack responded and that joke made everyone laugh even louder.
"I am so glad you're alright," Tooth said as she came over to hug him. Jack grinned as she did so. It fekt nice to be whole again. He felt surprisingly good after that whole event. He thought he'd feel like he was run over by a truck otherwise.
"Thanks Tooth. I would hug you but I'm bound up here," Jack commented and North quickly untied him.
"Sorry about that. How do you feel?" North asked as Jack sat up properly.
"I feel good. I don't feel depressed anymore. It's like that spell drove all the dark memories out of me. I remember them of course but they don't…bother me anymore and neither do my memories. Nice spell you got there North," Jack replied and North chuckled.
"Yes, well, we won't be using that again I can assure you. Pitch is vanquished now and his form can never return. Nightmares are still her but only for one purpose and won't have a mind of their own. So we can relax now!" North said and everyone cheered.
"It's so good to be back happy again!" Tooth said cheerfully and Sandy did a little dance of happiness to celebrate.
"Say, North? Where's my staff?" Jack asked.
"In my office. Why?" North asked.
"I was going to ask Kangaroo if he wanted a race once I got it back but I know he wouldn't be able to keep up. He'll trip over his big feet," Jack said cheekily and before Bunny could clock him hard, he ran off out the door to North's office.
"I'm so gonna get you for that Frosty!" Bunny yelled angrily as he sprinted after him.
Everyone else laughed at their antics. They were a lot like brothers. North was the crazy father, Tooth was a caring mother and Sandy was the cheerful uncle. They were a strange bunch that's for sure but they were family and families always looked out for each other.
Jack made this family more firm and they would stay that way for all eternity, not matter what was thrown at them. They felt each other's pain and sadness but they all worked through it together. Because they were not only the guardians but a family.
A slightly strange but happy family.
There! Nice agony for you there! The Monkey King with Tooth I actually read on a wiki page somewhere and I found that really tragic. Look it up, its really interesting! Bunny's too! There will be nothing more related to this story! This is the end! So I hope to see you all in my other new stories and all of my old ones are almost complete! Bye for now and see you soon!
