Beastboy hopped from one dusty orange rock to the next, following the trail set by his moody teammate. "I don't understand, what are we doing?"

"Just trust me."

He did trust her; with his life, in fact. But that still didn't explain to him what they were doing, who they were running from, or why she had yet to breathe a word of any of it since she had rushed them in a seemingly endless direction.

"Don't you think it'd be easier if you just told me what was going on? I want to help you."

"There's not much you can do, Beastboy. My demon side got lose again and now I have to find a way to get us both out of here before it takes over. You saw what I was like on the outside, if I don't retake my body then I'll lose it to the demon, and what you saw will become permanent."

"Not to mention we'll both be stuck here, right?"

She threw a smirk over her shoulder toward him, "Aren't you supposed to be the positive one?"

He chuckled dryly. "Is that what you're hoping for from me, moral support?"

"Well, that. And someone to stand guard while I preform some spells I think might work. It shouldn't be too long until I find the right one."

Some little bell went off in the back of his brain, "What's out there Rae? What are you so worried about? What do you need me to defend you from?"

She shrugged, looking off to where the rocks split up ahead, both directions littered with rough looking stalagmites. "Anything that tries to get in my way."

He paused, squinting at her back; and for a moment considered that maybe whatever affliction Raven was suffering from was affecting not just her outside self, but her inside persona as well.

"Over there looks like a good spot." She pointed to a larger stretch of floating rocks, this one with a scraggly tree stretching out toward the sky, its branches looking more like roots.

She turned to see him still staring back at her, frozen in thought. "Well?" She smiled encouraging at him, holding out a grey hand for him to grasp, "Shall we get started?"

Robin's gloved fingertips abruptly stopped drumming the surface of the supercomputer, choosing instead to run through his hair in frustration. "How do we even know if this is working?"

"Relax, Robin. I'm monitoring vital signs alongside Jinx's magic. We're watching both their minds and auras so if anything happens, we'll know about it." Cyborg tried to reassure his troubled friend.

Robin started pacing "This was a bad idea. I shouldn't have let Beastboy do this."

"Relax, dude. You're worrying isn't going to help anything. Now, you just have to trust him. Trust them both." Cyborg turned back to look at his two teammates locked behind reinforced glass, briefly wondering if his demon friend was even worthy of his trust in her present condition.

"It's our best bet at the moment" Jinx piped up from behind them "Besides, they both seem to be fine."

"Seem to be." Robin grumbled a little ruefully. "It just doesn't make sense, why would she want to help him find Raven. Why would she let him into her mind? She's supposed to be the evilest parts of Raven, right? Doesn't this seem a little suspicious to anyone else?"

"Stop it, man." Cyborg's brow creased alogside his frown, "You're just being paranoid. Demon Raven told Beastboy that she didn't feel right in Raven's human body. It did kinda sound like she needed Raven's help."

"And I've been thinking that doesn't make any sense either. The demon piece of Raven's soul has been trapped inside Raven's human body her whole life. Why wouldn't she use her control over it to finally escape?"

"Maybe 'cuz we trapped her inside an inescapable prison build just for her." Kid Flash quipped from the corner.

Robin clicked his tongue thoughtfully. "Maybe, but what if she's using Beastboy somehow? Jinx, could she do that?"

"I'm not sure what she could do to escape with Beastboy. Raven's demon side is a part of her, it's tied to Raven's body. She can't leave it, so as long as the body is stuck so is she. And it's not like he has any magic for her to channel. And even if she could channel all that magic where would she— wait…. Unless…"

Robin's eyes snapped to her. "Unless what?"

"Unless she was going to try and hop into Beastboy's mind. That's why she needs Beastboy!" Jinx's eyes went wild. "What if… What if Larissa didn't corrupt Raven's mind. What if she jumped into it? Took control somehow?"

"What? Can she do that?"

"Of course she can! Oh my god, and Raven showed her how." Jinx was gripping the sides of her head, as if her brain might explode from her new epiphany.

"Why would friend Raven teach her such magic?" Starfire's concern was growing on her face.

"No, I mean she learned how from Raven, from when Raven jumped into her body that night in the pool house."

Cyborg shook his head. "Wait, hold up. Raven didn't jump into Larissa's body, she just knocked her out."

But Jinx's mind was too busy spinning to hear them. "No, wait.. what if what she created a link between them? Allowing Larissa access to her mind, access to her magic!"

"What?" The room spoke together.

"Thank about it! A spell that could incapacitate a sorceress like Raven? A half- demon? It would be almost impossible to pull off for a normal human. I wondered how she had done it without channeling anything. I just assumed she channeled the power in her body, sacrificing herself for the spell. For revenge."

"Unfortunately, that sounds very in character for that psycho."

Jinx continued, a wild look in her eye. "But what if she's not dead? What if she's still alive. Inside Raven."

"This is bad." Kid Flash mumbled to himself.

"If what your saying is true, what can we do about it? No matter what happens, we can't let Beastboy get stuck in there."

"Larissa will try and exit Raven's body in favor of Beastboy's. We have to break the Link between Beastboy's mind and Raven's."

"What can we do?"

"Maybe we can help her. If she's reaching out, maybe we can reach back and try and unlock something."

"Alright, let's try it. It's worth a shot."

"Well…"

Robin's stare intensified, locking onto Jinx in a way that made her want to disappear entirely. "Well what? What aren't you telling us."

"Well, unlinking Beastboy won't be easy."

"It never is." Kid Flashed huffed, trying to lighten the mood.

"No, I mean going through a process like this, it could kill him."

Robin's face was sour, "So what do we have to do?"

TTTTTTTTTTTTTTT TTTTTTTTTTTTTTT TTTTTTTTTTTTTTT

Beastboy had no sense of time in this world. But he would bet a whole bunch of limited edition comic books and two tires off the T car that they had been sitting there; in silence; for over an hour. At least that's what it felt like, being forced to watch Raven mediate and mutter incantations to herself, just waiting for something to happen. He knew he wasn't here so he could have a good time, but when he planned this in his head, in none of his scenarios was he just doing nothing.

The changeling sighed dramatically to himself, wondering if he should count the tiny pebbles surrounding him just one more time (he'd already done it twice), or if he should play his old favorite, 'how long can I hold my breath 'till Raven notices I've passed out.'

But before he could convince himself to leave Raven alone and just start naming his rocks, Beastboy's ear twitched. He turned to look, seeing nothing. Weren't they supposed to be safely alone in this part of her world? It must be his mind playing tricks; or rather, his ears. He stayed perfectly still for a moment, pretending to be distracted, while he listened.

There it was again, a rustle of fabric against stone. He spun in his spot, and there she was. Except… in yellow?

"Wisdom?" His head tilted to the side, confused.

She placed a single finger to her lips and gestured him to follow her. He turned back toward Raven's stoic meditating figure with a worried glance before tentatively following the yellow clad emoticlone.

He followed her quite a ways before she turned to look at him.

"What's—"

She shushed him silently and pointed toward a stone archway just ahead. He knew what it was; a gate. He shook his head, pointing back to where they had left Raven, indicating he wasn't about to just abandon the woman he had just gotten back.

She shook her head once again and pointed toward the stone arch with more force.

He hesitated, turning back toward the spot they had just left. He couldn't even see Raven from here, and it made him nervous.

He felt a hand slip into his, and he turned to face an earnest expression. She squeezed it and used her free fingers to cross her heart, then point back toward the gate. She seemed to be pleading with him.

He took a deep breath. He knew Wisdom probably meant him no harm, but he couldn't get rid of the uneasy feeling stirring inside him since he had arrived in this upside-down dimension.

She squeezed his hand again, and reluctantly, he gave in.

The walked into the gate together, and when they made it to the other side, the scenery had changed. Now Beastboy was standing a little ways away from what looked like looming stone fortress, vegetation springing up from every well-worn crack.

He faced the emotion next to him, an eyebrow raised. "Can we talk now?"

She dropped his hand, but smiled at him, "Yes. Now we are safe."

"Safe? Safe from what? And if we were in danger then why didn't we bring Raven with us, We just left her behind! We have to go back, we—"

"Beastboy!" She stopped him in his tracks, and he eyed her suspiciously.

"What's going on?"

"That… thing we just left. That isn't Raven."

Beastboy's jaw almost fell off, "Wha-? Isn't Raven? What do you mean she isn't Raven? I think I'd know if I wasn't looking at the person I've know for almost ten years!"

Wisdom nodded, "I know, she's a good copy. A really good copy. And she has access to all of Raven's memories, so of course you would think she's the one you're looking for."

Beastboy was suddenly seething "If that's not Raven, then who is that? And where is the REAL Raven?"

"You'll find the answer to both your questions on the other side of that." Wisdom pointed toward the stone castle. "She should be almost here by now."

Beastboy looked up the the solid rock walls of the structure in front of them, then back toward Raven's emotional doppelgänger. Without saying another word, he started jogging toward it, an anxious feeling buzzing between his ribs.

"Oh, and Beastboy?"

He glanced back.

"Tell her I'll be waiting for her inside. We need to talk."

TTTTTTTTTTTTTTT TTTTTTTTTTTTTTT TTTTTTTTTTTTTTT

"I have to go find him." Raven's heart seized in fear.

"No, you need to get back to the castle and figure a way out of this mess. Let the others take care of Beastboy."

"The others?"

Timid shrugged, "It's just Wisdom, Brave and me for now. You haven't felt anything else intensely enough for any of your other emotions to manifest physically."

"If Brave and Wisdom appeared why haven't I seen them?"

"They took off after Beastboy. Brave wanted to protect him and Wisdom wanted to figure out what the other Raven was up too. I was too sad to go anywhere, so I waited for you. You are so late by the way"

"Promise me he's safe."

"…Can't you feel it, Raven? Through the connection between us? Wisdom already has him. They're on they're way back right now. We should get going so we can meet them at the castle."

Timid took off at a surprising pace toward the direction Raven had just been running from. She followed without another word. For the first time since her emoticlone had appeared to her, Raven took a moment to think. If she was going to get them out of this; her and Beastboy; she would have to be smart. She would need to figure out all she could about Larissa and what her plans are. Speaking of…

"Hey Timid, you called her the 'Other Raven.' Does that mean something?"

The grey cloaked clone threw a look over her shoulder before climbing over a few stones and waiting for the sorceress to follow. "I call her that because when she merged with you, she merged with your soul, so she had to cling on to parts of you to live. Fortunately for us, your demon side took the brunt of it. I guess it has some kind of humanity now."

Raven could already see the familiar building towering in the distance. Timid was right, she really hadn't run fast enough at all, had she?

"What do you mean my demon side has humanity? What does that even mean?"

"From what I understand; at least, from the times Wisdom explained it; the darkness inside of you is leaching off her now. They've sort of.. formed one? Taking up another space in your already very crowed head."

"I don't even understand how that's possible. Being bonded to an evil like that? I'm not sure if I'd wish that on anyone, even someone as terrible as Larissa.

"She chose this."

Raven shook her head thoughtfully, "I'm not sure she knew what she was choosing. I'm sure she wasn't imagining something this terrible. I saw through her eyes, my eyes. She's become consumed by it."

"I know, and it gets worse."

"How could it possibly get worse?" The front doors were clear in sight, but no sign of Beastboy.

"Just wait until you hear how Wisdom explains it. Seriously, I thought I was supposed to be the dreary one."

Raven blinked, "Are you making jokes?"

"Yeah, probably to accommodate for your missing emotioclones. I guess you're getting your sense of humor back. Couldn't you have picked something more useful?" Timid gave her a pointed look.

"Well, I wouldn't say a sense of humor is completely useless."

Raven knew the face of the voice before she turned around; but still had the caution to fear it wasn't him. Tears spilled onto her cheeks as she turned on her heel, seeing his beaming eyes and his lopsided smile, looking at her as if everything was right in the world.

"After all, it's my humor that won you over eventually. That, and my dashing good looks."

She ran to him like a force of nature, crashing into him violently. Beastboy wrapped his arms around her, clinging to her. The real her.

Finally.

"I missed you. More than you know."

She did know, she felt like sobbing in his shoulder, wishing she could curl up with him and forget all about this mess. Instead, she hung onto him, feeling his warmth, his aura, his closeness. His heart beat, his breath, his smell. Green filled her senses and

she worshipped it.

"I love you," she whispered into his neck, knowing he would hear her muffled words anyway, "I'm so glad you're alright."

He chuckled, but she could hear the heaviness on his breath. "Well, I wouldn't say I'm completely okay, at least not until we're both out of here, safe and sound."

Her smile was mangled with tears, "I guess it's time to be heroes, then."

"Yeah, but first…" Beastboy cupped her face, leaning down to meet their lips. Kissing her for the first time in what felt like an eternity. His kiss lit her on fire, or like someone had dropped a live wire into a tub of water. She grabbed the back of his neck, tugging him by the nape toward her, urging him closer. She wanted him, wanted to wrap herself around him and let herself feel something other than the anxiety and despair she had been drowning in since she had gotten here. Her memories of him were nothing compared to this.

"I still can't believe you found me."

"Rae, I'll find you no matter where you go. I don't want to be dramatic or anything, but I'd hunt you to the ends of the Earth if I had too."

She laughed, still sniffling "You love being dramatic."

"You're damn right I do. Glad to see your memory of me is still intact."

She brought her hands up to stroke fingers across his face lovingly, "How could I forget someone like you?"

Raven couldn't read emotion in this world like she could at home, but she didn't need to be an empath to know how he was feeling. His grin spoke the words, and his kiss was all the promise she needed.

When they broke apart, she didn't let go. Didn't want to go back to this miserable reality. He seemed to know this, and pressed lips to her forehead, "We can do this, Rae. We've been through worse."

"Have we?" She couldn't think of anything more horrible than this.

"Yes, we have. And we're going to figure this one out, too."

Her pout did not fade, but a familiar smirk tugged the corner of his lips. "And then, when we're back home, all safe and sound…" he leaned in to breathe into her ear, "I am going to tear these clothes off and show you just how much I missed you."

Raven couldn't help the smile that overtook her expression, his cheesy declaration leaving her to brew in the pent up feelings he was giving her. "I don't know if I want to wait that long."

"Don't tease me, Rae. We have business to take care of. Speaking of which," he pulled away and tugged on her hand, keeping her close, "Someone wants to see you."
