A/N: So here we are the last chapter. Everything will be revealed.

"So little brothers." Ivar said looking over at Svan, Knut, Harald, Arne and Rolf, "What did happen that awful day?"

All the brothers stayed silent too afraid to actually admit what happened that day. They had spent 20 years covering it up and now it was slowly unfolding due to an old newspaper article stashed away in a draw. That's how Ivar found out. The silence was interrupted by the sound of people running. The defenders ran towards Gildar but were stopped by Alwin and Banan.

"So we now have an audience who are waiting." Ivar commented, "Someone explain, Gildar's been waiting 20 years for justice to come and get him."

"What?" Gildar asked, "I haven't done anything I swear."

"He didn't." Svan said bravely as he stepped forward nearer Svan, "He didn't kill her. He couldn't have, he was only 5."

"5 years old can do amazing things." Ivar stated.

"5 year olds can't pour gasoline all over a bedroom and set fire to it leaving their mum locked inside the kitchen inhaling smoke that is slowly killing her." Svan shouted.

Everyone went silent after that and Gildar went pale. It was his mum that had died. The mum that had supposedly got up and left them for a new life with someone else, that is what they told him. Everyone in his family told him that. Whenever he asked about her that was their answer. Gildar looked over at his fellow defenders who had mixed emotions. Half of them had pity in their eyes and sorrow while the other looked awkward about being there and intruding on this family secret.

"Then why did the newspaper article say it was Gildar?" Ivar asked, "They quoted what he said."

Gildar shut his eyes and as much as he hated to, he had to remember that day. He had locked that memory up and now it was time to open it up one last time to find out what really happened.

20 years ago:

"Everyone out now." Sigurd, their father was shouting, "Quickly and get as far away from the building as you can. Ivar call the fire brigade."

He was being dragged along by someone, they were telling him to hurry up and that it will all be over soon and not to worry. They were grabbing his hand tight, they ran past various rooms and almost flew down the stairs and out of the front door but they kept running, they ran down the next street. They eventually stopped. Gildar looked scared; his mirror was secure in his free hand. His saviour kneeled down in front of him and gently touched his shoulder to reassure him that he was safe.

"Gildar." He said, "People are going to start asking questions so I'm going to tell you the answers and you're going to repeat this to your dad okay."

He nodded still scared and unsure of what had just happened.

"Listen this is what's going to happen. It was you okay. You went down into the basement and picked up the green can. You accidently spilled it all over your dad's bedroom carpet. When you went to get something to clear it up with, you accidently knocked a lit candle over with your foot so you ran and told me." The saviour said to him, "That is what happened wasn't it."

Gildar nodded then he heard his name being shouted frantically by his brothers. He ran to them and hugged them. Ivar picked him up and carried him over to a bench. Gildar tugged on the end of his shirt and told him everything that his saviour ordered him to say. Ivar got up and fetched Svan who sat down and asked for the same information but then more.

"Gildar, I want you to be honest with me." He said, "Did anyone tell you to say that?"

He couldn't help it but his eyes wandered over to him and Svan saw that.

"Okay. Stay here, we're just sorting something out." Svan ordered, "Everything's going to be fine."

~Ooooo~

Gildar opened his eyes. No wander Ivar hated him but he was as innocent as him in that fire. He was a 5 year old kid who was vulnerable at that time. No wonder that person took it as an advantage.

"Listen Ivar, someone told me to say that I swear." Gildar said.

"Who?" Ivar asked.

"I can't remember…" Gildar started then Ivar interrupted.

"Typical. Do you know why they said Nan was dead because they didn't want to break little Gildar's heart."

"I didn't ask them to cover it up."

"Yes you did Gildar." Knut finally spoke, "You just didn't realise that you did."

~Ooooo~

"Knut, what's going on?" 5 year old Gildar asked.

"There just making sure that everyone's out." Knut said, "Don't worry everything will be fine."

"Where's mummy. I want Mummy." Gildar demanded.

Knut looked at Gildar with hurt in his eyes, "Wait one minute okay."

He watched his brother talking to their dad who was crying for some reason. All of the brothers had joined in this conversation and were agreeing to something. Then Knut returned, "Listen Gildar now's not a good time. You know Nan. Well she's not coming to see us ever again."

"Why?"

"Because she's an angle in Heaven and God's looking after her now but she'll always be looking down on us."

That was the end of the conversation.

~Ooooo~

"You seem we couldn't tell you." Knut explained.

"But who was it I saw when I was in that coma?" Gildar asked.

"It must have been Mum; people must age when they go to heaven." Arne suggested.

"We still haven't found out who ordered Gildar to say that though." Rolf commented, "Whoever it was must have started the fire."

"Nonsense." Neri shouted, "It was him and that's the end of it."

"Nan please it wasn't me. I swear."

"I don't want to hear it." Neri exclaimed turning round to see Alwin, anyone got a plan?"

"Alwin does." Banan said, "Tell them Alwin."

"Listen this is what's going to happen." Alwin started.

As soon as Alwin had opened his mouth he knew. He knew who had set fire to the bedroom and he knew who had locked his mum in the kitchen because people never change. For one last time his mind went back to that conversation and he could clearly see the person kneeling down in front of him. It was Alwin.

"Svan, it was…" Gildar was saying.

"I know." He replied, "I've always known."

The truth about what happened 20 years ago:

"That woman thinks she can boss me around." Alwin exclaimed slamming the table.

"We are her servant and doctor." Banan reminded him.

"I know but I will get my revenge." Alwin said, "And you're going to help me."

"No, I know you and its dangerous or life threatening."

"Let me put it this way. You help or tonight will be the last night you see your family again." Alwin threatened.

"What do I do?" Banan asked.

The following morning everything was planned at precisely 10am. The woman, Gildar's mother, was preparing tea in the kitchen. Ivar had poured the gasoline all over the bedroom and Banan had locked the kitchen door. Alwin had lit a match and had dropped it at the far end of the room; it would eventually reach the gasoline. He rushed out of the bedroom then noticed Gildar.

"Fire." He shouted, "Fire in the bedroom."

He grabbed Gildar's hand and we know the rest.

~Ooooo~

"Gildar didn't you hear me?" Ivar shouted, "Who do you chose? Your family or your friends?"

Gildar looked at Ivar who was smiling. This was it.

"I know who did it." Gildar shouted, "It was Alwin and Banan. Alwin started the fire and Banan locked the kitchen door."

Ivar looked ta Gildar for a second then at Alwin and Banan, who were shocked and were trying to get words out.

"Run." Alwin shouted and the pair ran off into the nearby woods.

"That doesn't matter now." Ivar replied.

"Answer the question." Neri shouted.

Gildar saw only one solution out of this. He was near the cliffs; he could see the drop was about 10ft. It was a smooth surface at the bottom on the plus side.

"Why don't I whisper the answer to you?" Gildar suggested, "Both of you. Keep the suspense running."

The pair walked over to him and Gildar made sure they were close enough.

"So who will it be?" Neri asked.

"Us." Gildar replied and with that grabbed both of them by the hands and jumped off the cliff with both of them.

"Gildar!" Everyone screamed.

Time went slowly in that period. Gildar saw his whole life flash before him. Every single childhood memory that he could remember and every attacker that had stormed the splatalot castle, Ivar and Neri mind wandered back to the prophecy told by the oracle. "The youngest will kill you." And he had.

They eventually reached the bottom with a thump. The next few seconds were vital. Gildar opened his eyes and looked around. Everything was white. A woman stood in front of him.

"Mum?" He asked and he nodded, "We're finally together again."

"Not yet my dearest son." She said, "You still have a long journey a head for you."

The whiteness was fading, so was his mum who smiled as he left. Gildar opened his eyes for a second time. He had no idea where he was but he was lying on a bed and a machine was beeping beside him.

"Bro you're awake." Svan said moving closer to him.

"Where am I?" Gildar asked.

"You're in hospital." Svan said, "We called for an ambulance and they discovered that you were still alive. You haven't got any injuries; you've been unconscious for two days."

"How come I haven't got any injuries?" Gildar asked.

"The doctors say that Ivar and Neri broke your fall." Svan explained.

"What happened to them?" Gildar asked.

"The paramedics couldn't find them. They vanished."

Gildar was left to rest after that. As the day went on, his family and brothers visited him and gave him updates.

"So Kook asked Shaiden out and now their dating?" Gildar asked Ballista.

"Yeah, who would have thought it?" She said, "I'll see you tomorrow."

The following day Gildar was discharged and the defenders threw him a surprise party which everyone let Gildar explain his heroics.

"It's been a weird month." Kook said getting himself a drink.

"It's weird." Gildar said, "This all started because of Alwin and Banan."

"Those two must have been messed up." Kook stated, "Have the police found them?"

"No." Gildar said sighing, "Any ways how are you and Shaiden?"

"We're good." Kook said then noticed that everyone was shouting Gildar, "I think they want you to make a speech."

Gildar got up on stage and started his speech, "For those of you who just know about we falling down a cliff, here's the reason why."

"Gildar did the shortened version of his story about the fire, coma, attack, going into hiding, being kidnapped twice and falling off a cliff. It had been an adventurous month. One that they will never forget. Everyone was happy and life was going to get better.

And that my friend is where Splatalot couples begins.
