Chapter 8
EPOV
JUNE
The past six months have passed by very quickly, between Bella's graduation, buying an apartment in Forks and wedding planning, it seems like only weeks have gone by since we returned from our trip as an engaged couple, our wedding is now only two weeks away and I couldn't be more excited about it, we are getting married on the 15th, that means that we will be on our honeymoon for my birthday, and for me it's the perfect way to celebrate it, alone with my Bella, while we enjoy the coast of Brazil, I was taking her to my family's private island in there, in all the year we've been together we haven't had the chance to go, and our honeymoon was the perfect opportunity for it.
With Alice's and Rosalie's help, Bella was getting everything for the wedding ready, I wish I could be more involved, but I was going to take a month of vacation from work, for our honeymoon, so I had to leave everything organized for my substitute, and according to the girls all I needed to do was help choose the cake, the band, and my tux, and all of that was already done, so all for me left to do was wait for the day and be at the altar waiting for my bride.
Everything was perfect, except for one thing.
Bella was upset about something, I didn't know for sure, but I could swear it was related to her mother, she was the only guest who hasn't yet confirmed her assistance to the wedding, and I knew that it didn't matter if everything else was going great, Bella wouldn't be completely happy if her mother was not there that day, no matter how strained their relationship was, she was still her mother, and what girl wouldn't want her mother at her wedding?
I knew Bella wouldn't admit it, so I had to find an excuse to go to Florida for a couple of days and convince Renee to come to our wedding.
The real reason Bella first moved to Forks to live with her dad when she was a teenager, was because she had a fight with her mother, Renee had started dating a man called Felix, who Bella didn't trust and was convinced was only after Renee's money and didn't really care for her, when she told her mother her suspicions, Renee accused her of jealousy, and lying, Bella was so upset after that fight, that she decided to move to Forks and live with her dad, and Renee agreed.
By the time Renee realized Bella was telling the truth, she had already started dating me and didn't want to move back to Florida with her mom, Renee accused me of stealing her daughter away, and brainwashing her to stay with me instead of going back with her, she never liked me and didn't approved of our age difference, even though it wasn't that big.
In the following years they spoke and visit each other a few times, but Renee's constant critics about our relationship made Bella distance herself every time more form her mother, Renee eventually met a good man named Phil, and started living with him, Bella met him a few times and was happy for her mother, but their relationship was too strained and they could never relink it, especially since Renee didn't exactly put too much effort into it.
I didn't particularly care for Renee, she had hurt Bella's feelings too many times and that was something I couldn't let go, but I knew Bella, she had a big heart and was so forgiving, and I knew how important it was for her to have her mother at our wedding, that's why I decided to personally make sure she was there.
On Monday afternoon I arrived home to find Bella sitting on the couch concentrated on her computer, with her brow frowned, I sat next to her and asked her what was wrong.
"I can't find a job," she explained, "it's been more than a month since I graduated and I haven't gotten anything yet."
I took her hands into mine and pushed her computer aside, "Bella, relax, you are very smart and prepared, you will find something soon, its not like you need it right now, just focus on our wedding, and when we come back from our honeymoon I'm sure you'll have offers waiting." I told her while giving her a reassuring smile.
She cuddled up to me and asked me about my day.
"It was good, but I have some not so happy news."
"Oh no, what is it?"
"I have to go to Florida for a couple of days for a conference."
She pouted, "do you really have to go? Can't someone else do it?"
Since I've started teaching, I had to go to a few conferences in other universities across the country, they were usually once a year and only for a few days, but being away from Bella was always hard for me, although this time I wasn't exactly going to a teaching conference.
"Sorry, baby, it's only a couple of days and after that, I´ll have a month of vacations, so I have to do this."
She sighed and hugged me, "it's okay, I understand."
"My mother will stay with you and help you while I'm gone."
"She doesn't have to, I can take care of myself," she started to argue.
"I know, but I will feel better knowing you won´t be alone, and besides she can help with the last wedding details."
She sighed and accepted.
"So, where is the conference this time?"
"In Florida State University, I'll leave Wednesday morning and come back on Friday afternoon."
"Okay, after that, can we spend the weekend locked up in here, just the two of us?"
I smiled, I knew next week everything was going to be crazy with the wedding, so Alice will probably be in our apartment 24/7, so the idea sounded perfect to me.
"There's nothing I would like more," I kissed her and things quickly started heating up, so I carried her to our bedroom where we enjoyed some quality time together, before showering and falling asleep in each other's arms.
On Tuesday night my mother arrived to keep Bella company and she immediately started with the wedding talk, I knew that between my mom and her best friends she will be distracted enough while I was away.
On Wednesday morning I arrived in Florida, I quickly left my things in the hotel and went to Renee's house, the sooner I did things the better.
I knocked on her door and waited for her to answer, when she saw me, she was clearly shocked.
"Edward, what are you doing here?"
"Hello, Renee, can I come in?" I asked calmly.
She stepped aside to let me in. "Is Bella okay?"
"She is fine, I came here to talk to you."
She led me to the living room, Renee came from a very wealthy family, so it was not a surprise that she lived in a big house and had fancy furniture, her living room was very big and she had several tables with pictures on top of them, most were of Phil and her, although I could see a few of Bella as well, I wasn't in any of them, even though I had been dating Bella for many years now and was an important part of her life.
"So, what brings you here?" She asked while sitting across from me. "I assume this is about the wedding."
"You assume correct," I answer her with a tight smile, "the wedding is next Saturday, and we will like to know if you'll be in attendance."
She stared at me for a minute before answering, "I don't approve of Isabella's choice of groom."
I huffed, "that's pretty obvious, but this isn't about me, it's about your daughter, who loves you and has been there for you even when you didn't deserve it, if you don't go, it will crush her."
She rolled her eyes at me, "I'll see what I can do."
"Dammit, Renee," I growled, "I know you don't like me, I don't like you either, but I love your daughter, and we are getting married with or without you, but I know that she needs you there, you are her mother, for once in her life, act like it and show her you love her and support her. Bella is amazing, she is strong and brave, and beautiful, and she is the best thing that has ever happen to me, so I'm here begging you to please leave our differences aside for one day, and be there for her, for her, not for me or you, just do this one thing for her. Don't you think she deserves it?"
I took a deep breath and continue with my monologue, "just one day without arguments or snide remarks, just one day where it's all about her happiness. Can you please do that for your daughter?"
She glared at me, "I already told you, I´ll see what I can do."
"You know what?", I said tired and exasperated, "I tried, I really did, but you are hopeless, if you don't go, you'll regret it for the rest of your life, because if you do that, you will lose her, for real this time, you will lose her light, her warmth, her amazing forgiving heart, and losing someone as beautiful as Bella is the worst thing that could happen to someone who's had the pleasure of knowing her, so I hope you choose wisely, goodbye Renee."
With that, I walked to the front door and left without looking back.
The next day I went to do some shopping and buy souvenirs and things Bella likes, I also enjoyed a little bit of time on the beach, and finished writing my wedding vows, I couldn't wait to go back home to Bella, I just hoped my speech got through Renee and the trip was worth something.
On Friday I arrived home at 8 pm, my flight got delayed so I arrived a few hours later than planned, luckily I had the chance to talk to Bella so she didn't worry, when I got home everything was dark and neither my mom or Bella could be seen or heard, so I thought maybe they were out having dinner or something, but when I got to the bedroom, I found a nice surprise.
Bella was standing in the middle of the candlelight room, with an outfit that almost brought me to my knees.
She was wearing a white lace bodysuit that made her body looked amazing and I couldn't wait to rip it off her.
"Welcome home, handsome." She whispered.
I left my things by the door and slowly walked towards her, "you look breathtaking."
"I thought you deserved a reward."
"A reward?" I asked confused.
She nodded while biting her lip, "I don't know how you did it, but I know it was you. My mom called this morning, she'll be here for our wedding, she'll arrive on Friday, she hasn't called or text or anything since we sent out the invitations, and now she calls out of nowhere to gush about our wedding and offers her help, telling me she'll be here on Friday morning to spend the day before the wedding with me, telling me how excited she is to be here for us," she shook her head, "it was you, I don't want to know what you did, or what you said to her, but thank you, I really needed this." She finished almost close to tears.
I wrapped my arms around her and gave her a sweet kiss, "I knew you did, I would do anything for you, I love you, Bella."
"I love you too, Edward," she smiled at me, "forever."
I kissed her with all the love that I had for her, and I could feel her love for me in every kiss and touch she gave back.
That night, I enjoyed pleasuring my beautiful bride to be, and we both got lost in between sweet touches and whispered "I love yous".

Now, I took so long to update because Real Life has been crazy for me, a lot of changes, and I almost got divorced, so I needed a time out to focus on my marriage and thankfully things are good now, so that means that I'm back with a lot of ideas and new plots.
I hope you like them and continue on this journey with me.
Thank you! Lost of love!
