Eagle on Your Shoulder

What I hear, I sing back to you,

I bring news upon the wind.

Sometimes I fly in quiet peace,

Sometimes above the battle's din.

With what I sing, I sometimes play,

Knock-knock jokes I tell.

Not always do you like them,

But you still take the humour well.

Sometimes I play, sometimes I read,

And while I read you write.

We slog it out during the day,

But we can relax at night.

So sometimes I'm on your shoulder.

Sometimes I fly ahead.

But while we stand together,

Nothing we'll have to dread.
