" You're really getting rid of it?"

Nyota looked over from her work to where her roommate was perched on her bed.

" Yes, I mean, it seems sort of unnecessary now that I have the real thing." she shrugged, putting away another piece of Spock memorabilia. She picked up the first PADD that her professor had ever handed her and lovingly stroked the surface with a sigh. " I can't believe we're finally together!"

Gaila wrinkled her nose and came closer to the ornate shrine of Spock that Nyota had constructed over the course of her years at the academy. Until she had roomed with Gaila, Nyota had kept her maniacal collection under wraps. When she first came across the structure in Nyota's closet after a failed attempt to find a sweater she lost after doing their laundry jointly the Orion gently prodded the human for an explanation for her bizarre compilation.

At first Nyota dodged her roommates question but eventually the dam broke at the mention of Vulcan's traditionally being paired off as children to their future spouses. Even now Gaila remembered the crushed look Nyota had as she held onto a lock of the Vulcan's hair, twisting the beribboned stranded between her thumb and forefinger.

" So you mean I don't even have a chance?" she asked softly.

Gaila's eyes darted from side to side, weary of looking at her clearly deranged classmate as reality was slowly closing in on her. " Umm well he's half human I hear so maybe he doesn't have a mate you know? Who knows maybe he's into humans?"

She almost broke her composure when the slim African trapped her in a bear hug that was a little too tight and lasted a little too long. " You're right! Maybe he does!"

After that she used her position as his teaching assistant to wedge her way into his personal affairs with anything from deleting emails from T'Pring to composing false transcripts from said Vulcanness to express indifference towards their engagement.

All was going according to her plan to push her doting professor closer still but when he made no moves to take their relationship into something more than scholarship she looked for any and every means to sweep him off his feet.

" Ah, won't be needing this anymore." Nyota chirped, smiling as she tossed out the leftover bag of tea she originally bought.

Gaila knit her fingers together just as her brow knit itself on her forehead, watching her friend cheerfully, take down her project as she had now gained first prize. " So, you guys are a thing now?"

Nyota nodded and kissed at the holopix she took of Spock as he was leaving his apartment one evening. " Yeah and it's so great. He's even cooking for a meal for me right now for when I come back! Oh God, this is even better than our time at the lab!" she giggled, her cheeks flush with the memory of their coupling. " Hmm maybe I'll keep that skirt though…"

Gaila swallowed and breathed a small sigh as Nyota finally dumped the mass into the garbage receptacle and grabbed her purse to leave. " I'll be back on Monday. Call me if you need me! Oh and tell Chekov thanks again! BYE~!"

The door slide silently shut behind her and the Orion slumped onto her bed.

Surely, a Vulcan with his touch telepathy would have seen how aberrant Nyota was? Maybe his heritage had something to do with him missing that mark or perhaps the tea was stronger than she gave it credit.

Michaels, although a dick at times, had tried his best to make it work with winning Nyota back but even he underestimated Nyota's adore for Spock. Her Spock.

The emerald female closed her eyes with a frown and rubbed gingerly at her temples. " Why? Why, why, why hadn't she said something to someone? Gotten Nyota help? Warned Spock of her roommates Obsession?

" Culagah! You weren't suppose to go after her when I told you she was going home you idiot! So much for being logical!" she growled, rolling over to stuff her face into the pillow.

She turned her head and looked over to where the shrine had once stood behind their window, where Nyota could be near it and watch for the Vulcan to cross the yard.

" Maybe he didn't see her lies…" Gaila murmured, closing her eyes to rest. " because Nyota believed every single one like they were the truth."

Her musing was interrupted by a call from a certain blue-eyed Cadet with amazing stamina for a human and she happily snatched her comm up, glad for the distraction. " Hello there, stranger."

" You up for studying for the Kobayashi Maru?"

Gaila huffed, angry that he actually wanted to do something outside of bed. " What? Won't this be your third time taking it?"

" Yea, three times a charm, right?"

Gaila groaned and palmed her face. " Humans…"

" So that's a yes? Great! See ya in the lab! Kirk out."

The Orion gathered her things and shook off the nagging feeling of guilt as she thought of the programmer that made the test that Kirk was stuck on. " From one obsessed human to the next. Logic your way out of this one, professor." she quipped to herself leaving her room and the memories of what she had been told there behind.
