Time Spent With My Favourite Girl

Wind blew softly through my hair, the sweet smell of flowers permeating the air.

Heavy equipment clanked and clattered. My horse, who was picketed nearby whinnied at the unpleasant noises. I could relate, with my ears being even more sensitive than hers.

Taking a minute to calm the great, gentle beast down, it proved worth my time, as she settled down almost immediately.

Her warm nose pressed against my arm, asking for a treat. I poked around in the saddle bags, and before I had even pulled anything out, she took it from my hand. I laughed at the horse, who was now munching happily on an apple. She was a curious being indeed.

While she was finishing the treat, I petted her head, scratching behind her ears. She nuzzled her face into me, nearly pushing me over. I attempted to sidestep her, but she continued to follow me with her head pressed into me. Giving in, I sat down on the grassy hillside and continued to scratch behind her ears.
I quickly grasped her mane and swung myself up onto her back, grinning from ear to ear when she playfully nipped my boot. I patted her neck, and she looked at me with big almond eyes. Sitting back up into the saddle, I dug my heels into her sides, and urged her to go forward. The horse whinnied, tossing her head happily, messy, wild mane whipping to and fro. As she galloped towards the village, I smiled. I was happy that I had spent some time with my favourite girl.
