What Should've Happened in 4x18

AN: I was excited for this episode since Joseph Morgan tweeted months ago that this was a good Klaroline episode so frankly I was disappointed by the lack of Klaroline considering Joseph is leaving for the spinoff and I'm just really scared of what's going to happen to my OTP :( So I made this one shot of what should've happened in the latest episode of the Vampire Diaries. This follows the story line but here's the first chapter. Enjoy!

LET'S SHOW JULIE PLEC WHO THE REAL SHIP IS IN THE SHOW. KLAROLINE HAS TO BE ENDGAME. END OF CONTEST IS 4/5/13 FRIDAY LETS DO THIS! SPREAD THE WORD!

Klaus couldn't take it anymore. How could something hurt so much? He almost forgot what it felt like to be immortal and all-powerful because at that moment, he felt completely and utterly human. He continued scratching at his back. How could someone as strong as he not be able to remove one measly piece of wood from his back.

Caroline.

That was all he could think about aside from the piercing pain in his back, in his insides. He had been so horrible to her. But he couldn't help it.

"People who do terrible things are just terrible people."

He thought once that she would be able to forgive but it seemed like now he was the one who wasn't able to forgive. She finally opened up to him, allowed him to comfort her. But he turned her down. He regretted it the minute he saw her face. He'll never be able to forget that moment. And Silas appeared right after. Couldn't he get one moment to process what had just happened? And now here he was. He considered it punishment for what he had done. The skin healed over the piece of stake. For once he cursed his supernatural healing abilities.

"I'll just break my arm. I'll break it out of proportion just so I could reach out and pull it out..."

He screamed in pain as he hit the wall. His body was twisting in ways that it had never had. The pain was getting too much for him to bear. He just wanted it to end already.

"Klaus we need to talk," Caroline came in.

His heart (or what was left of it) leapt at the sound of her voice. His eyes widened in disbelief.

"What happened to you?"

"Silas. He attacked me. He stabbed me with the white oak stake."

Despite the gruesome pain, he was relieved at Caroline's expression. She looked worried. But most of all she didn't seem mad at what he did to her just yesterday.

"A piece of it is still inside me," he continued.

"Oh my God. Klaus that could kill you."

He laughed bitterly. Oh so she cares now that I'm about to die.

"Well I certainly feel like I'm dying."

"Hey," she whispered tenderly. She put her hands on either side of his face. He didn't understand what was happening. Caroline was never this sweet with him. He could feel her finger caressing it gently yet it felt wrong. It felt sinister.

"And as much as I would love to watch you die you still haven't found me that cure."

"SILAS!" He screamed. And he fell and she let him fall. He felt pathetic. Used. Why was he going through this torture?

"That's right," came the reply. "Yesterday I looked like Shane. Today I look like Caroline and tomorrow...who knows?"

"Show me your real face," Klaus demanded. He at least had the right to know who his killer was, who was strong enough to get the upper hand with him.

"Now why would I do that when I can look like whomever I want you to see?"

Klaus backed away. It was strange to see the cold words in her sweet voice. Granted, she'd said some really bad things to him but there was never this much evil in her. She was always full of light, exactly why he fancied her. More than anything, he wanted Silas to stop. He wanted him to choose another person to imitate, his mother, even his father. Anyone but her.

"Resist me all you want Klaus but until you bring me the cure, I will bring you nothing but misery."

This is just the start and I'm still thinking of continuing this story because I have some pretty good ideas. Tell me what you think! :)

P.S.

If you're a fan of Supernatural too please check out my crossover! :)

P.P.S.

To those who are confused because this is almost EXACTLY what happened in that episode, let me make this clear. I'm not going for alternate universe over here. I'm going for what should happen in the Vampire Diaries because honestly Klaroline right now is moving at the pace of a snail. I'm trying out things in a new perspective if something actually DID happen in that episode and more than just that smile in the end. Klaroline will happen in my version and there will be some complications but you will have to read more to find out!
