Chapter 4: A new start (rated M)

His breathing was heavy and fast as his pale hand rested on his own chest, trying to calm himself. The ball he was using laid far away on the court after he failed- once again-to make a successful hook shot. No matter how hard he tried, it was frustratingly impossible for him to accomplish. He thought he had perfect precision. He considered himself a perfectionist after all, and his passes were always precise, so why can't he get that ball into the hook? But he was still too stubborn to give up, and he wanted to be more than just a shadow in this team.

He went to pick up the ball and began dribbling it for a bit, then positioning himself to take another shot when…

"Oi Tetsu!" as if he wasn't bad enough, the sudden call of his name made him miss yet again as Aomine approached him, his hands deep inside his pockets.

"Aomine-kun broke my concentration," he scolded his light, who picked the ball that was rolling towards him after the missed shot.

"I was waiting for you at our usual place. You should've told me you were going to stay here 'til late," the tanned man scolded back, while spinning the ball lazily on one finger.

"I told you what my plans for today were at lunch time."

"Eh? Really? I never heard you," Aomine said, slightly confused, causing a small crease between his eyebrows.

"Because you were too busy demolishing your food to notice anything else."

"I was hungry," he admitted with a small shrug, "and still, you should've sent me a text or something."

"I'll keep that in mind next time," Kuroko said, looking for his bag after deciding that he had enough practicing for today. He wanted to take a quick shower to soothe his aching muscles and relax.

"So," Aomine starts, swinging his arm around the shorter male's shoulder to bring him closer to him, not minding the sweat at all. "What are your plans now?"

"I'm going to take a quick shower before heading home."

"Hm," Aomine hummed, mouth curving upward in delight. His arm wandered lower until it rested around the slim boy's waist. "We can shower together then. It's been a while since we've done it there."

Kuroko's cheeks tinted a little, but he brushed off the heat in his cheeks fast. He was used to this type of comments; Aomine wouldn't be Aomine without showing his perverted self from time to time. But he was tired and his legs were aching so he didn't want to risk collapsing in the school showers. He pulled himself away from Aomine, ignoring the displeased grunt.

"I don't want to do it now Aomine-kun," the boy said, heading towards his destination, with the tanned male trailing behind him.

"Come on Tetsu," said the taller male, once again pulling the sky bluenet's body towards his. He hugged Kuroko from behind, lips brushing sensitive skin as he breathed hot whispers into his ear. "A quickie won't be so bad. Just imagine, you against the wall soaking wet, moaning out my name as I pound into you. Don't you want that?"

Kuroko shivered, the invitation sounding so good. It's been a while since he's done it with Aomine. He missed the heat between their bodies whenever they were together, and the feverish kissed they shared in between it all. But he didn't have the strength now.

"I don't-" He was going to complain, but stopped when he felt Aomine shaped lips against his neck. He moaned automatically as the wet tongue began trailing in his more sensitive areas.

"Your body seems to be liking this," Aomine said playfully, this time sucking on the neck until a red mark began forming. "Want me to stop?"

He wanted to get home soon, but his hormones were winning over his train of thought. Besides, his forming erection wasn't going to let him leave, so he might as well enjoy the situation.

He turned around, one arm behind Aomine's head as he pulled the taller male into a fierce kiss. It was a rare sight to see the usually calm Kuroko Tetsuya acting so needy and showing much passion. It was something only Aomine alone has ever had the chance to witness, and boy did he love it. It made his excitement bigger, and so he kissed the other as equally hard and passionate. The kiss was messy and wet, with tongues dancing around each other before they needed to breathe.

They pulled away, lips slightly swollen and red. But that wasn't the end of it. Aomine pushed Kuroko into a wall, not caring that they never arrived to the shower. All he had in mind was that he needed the slim boy. Kuroko's hips bucked upward by instinct, seeking more friction that Aomine wasn't conceding. The tease.

He initiated another kiss, raising Kuroko's shirt so he could trace the milky stomach he loved so much. But when he placed his hand on it, it was far from what he expected.

"What the hell?" Aomine said, taking a step back to inspect the boy fully. The usually flat belly was unbelievably swollen. As if he was expecting a child. "The hell is this?"

Kuroko, aware of the cause of that reaction, quickly hid his stomach with his shirt again. He wanted to scold himself for having forgotten about the situation. But he can't hide anymore.

"I'm pregnant… with your baby," he said slowly, not wanting to receive a bad reaction from the other male.

It was strange how eyes that looked at him so passionately a couple of seconds ago were looking at him with repulsion and anger right now.

"Disgusting," Aomine spat at him, walking away from Kuroko without looking back.

Once again, Kuroko was left alone.

The sky bluenet jolted awake, sweat adorning his skin as he recalled the strange dream.

It all happened so fast, and it displayed one of his worst fears about this whole pregnancy situation. Rejection. Because even if Aomine acted like a brat most of the time and forgot about him, Kuroko can't deny the feelings that existed towards him. And even if he held a grudge due to what happened in middle school, he wished Aomine could be a part of the baby's life too.

Sadly, Aomine is unpredictable, and so he feared the reaction he could get from his previous light. He didn't want to be seen with disgust by him. He just wanted his support. Too bad he wouldn't be getting it.

He felt his baby moving inside of him, reminding him that he wasn't completely alone. His baby wasn't disgusting. The little one was his most prized treasure, and Aomine would be insane to think otherwise. Still shaken by the nightmare, he decided not to go back to sleep. He had to get up early anyway, being the first day of high school and all that.

He did his usual morning routine: bathe, brush his teeth, and make his own breakfast (or just grab a random fruits since his cooking skills weren't the best). He had plenty of time to get ready, so he took his time eating, waiting for his father to wake up.

"G'morning," Kenta groggily greeted him, rubbing his eyes as he came into the kitchen. His hair was sticking out oddly, with some of his bangs hiding a part of his face. But he didn't care, taking waddling steps towards the kitchen cabinet to search for some mugs.

"Good morning," Kuroko greeted back.

"You're up early," Kenta commented, beginning to prepare some instant coffee for himself.

"I couldn't sleep well."

"Why? Nervous for your first day of high school?"

"Not quite," he responded, because even if he was a tad nervous, that wasn't his main problem. "I had too many things on my mind. School might help distract me though."

Kenta hummed in understanding as he drank his coffee. Back when his ex-wife had been pregnant with his son, he was a huge mess. His mind was in mayhem, because he was about to take on a big responsibility that would change his life forever. It's normal for his son, who is expecting a baby himself at such a young age, to place some deep thought about what was going to happen in the future once the baby is born.

"We'll see. I already spoke to the teachers to keep an eye on you, so if you face any trouble, please go to them. Except to the math teacher. He didn't look so… accepting." He recalled talking to the short, old man, who didn't show any interest as he explained his son's condition. The other teachers were willing to help at least, guarantying his son's safety during this whole ordeal.

"I understand."

"And please, if you're going to join a club, then join a calm one. Sports are out of the question, even if it's one that doesn't require much movement from your part."

"I know otou-san. The doctor said to not to put any stress into myself or it would affect the baby," he said. "The Book Club is the best option I have."

"Okay. Book are good," agreed Kenta, giving him a thumbs up. "They never hurt people."

"I'll sign up for it when as soon as I arrive." Book Club really was ideal. He liked quiet settings, and there wasn't a place in any school quieter than a library. Plus, he had read in an article that if you talk to your baby, it will grow used to your voice and that it will learn to love it. He wanted his child to familiarize with him more, and he was fond of the idea of reading a story for him or her once he officially joined the club.

"Get prepared then. Your hair is almost as bad as mine," Kenta pointed out. Even if his hair was still wet from the shower, it remained unruly. It was as if it had a life of its own, and he blamed his dad for it. He sincerely hoped his child didn't have his hair.

With a nod Kuroko stood up, feeling his baby shifting inside of him the moment he felt his/her carrier move. "You should get ready as well otou-san. You're going to be late for work," he told his dad, who hasn't notice the time until he pointed it out. Kenta began panicking, running to the bathroom to get ready.

It was a funny sight, and it gave Kuroko some reassurance because if he could deal with his father (who sometimes acted so immature for his age) then he could handle parenthood easier than he thought.

He stared at his reflection in the mirror.

He looked smaller than usual, despite of his belly, while wearing the oversized uniform his dad got him. It was two sizes bigger than his old one was. They figured that his body was going to continue to grow, so they couldn't have clothes that fit perfectly because they wouldn't last very long. The sleeves of his top used to be so long that they completely hid his hands. Thankfully, he got them fixed so it hung around his wrists now, and they adjusted the length of his pants. The width, however, was another story. His pants felt like they could fall off at any moment, and he was thankful for the belt that would prevent them from pooling at his ankles. It wouldn't be a nice experience for his pants to fall down during his first day.

Then there was the top. No matter how small it was, his stomach was impossible to hide. He thought black was supposed to make people look more sliming. Big lie. It didn't look any different from before. So yeah, he was going to march into his new school wearing clothes that appeared to want to swallow him whole, with a prominent belly that was bound to get attention. His misdirection wasn't going to help him out anymore.

He decided that walking to Seirin High was better than taking the bus. The doctor said he still needed to exercise (but he couldn't overdo it). It was less troublesome to do so than boarding a crowded bus full of people he didn't know and being squished against the widow. He never liked public transportation anyway. His dad offered to take him but he was late as it is. Seirin wasn't that far, and walking will do him good.

Akashi had called him earlier that day, giving him fast advice since the redhead had to get prepared as well.

'Be safe Tetsuya. Don't trust anyone so easily.'

That's what the redhead had told him. He's probably going to supervise everything he does even if he's far away at another school. He always knows what's going on (no one really knows how), so he was going to know if Kuroko was in trouble or not. But Kuroko wasn't one to trust easily, even before he became pregnant. He was going to be fine.

He bit his lips, feeling his nervousness rise when he saw the gate of his new school. It wasn't completely full yet, but there were still a lot of students roaming around.

The school itself gave Kuroko a nice vibe. Since it was fairly new, the buildings stood proud with the freshly colored walls. It had many trees around the courtyard, mainly cherry blossoms ones, which made for a beautiful scenery often seen only in movies. And on each side of the entrance, where most of the students that arrived were crowding at, were a lot of stands of the different clubs the school had. The students' attention were on those, and Kuroko was very glad, because that meant the attention wasn't on himself or his belly.

He looked for the Book Club stand, ignoring the screams of the students who were promoting the other clubs with aggression Kuroko had only seen in wild animals. His eyes wandered to the left, were a girl was sitting with a odd boy (who looked almost cat-like with that his strange smile).

It was the Basketball Club stand. He felt bad; he wished to join and play so badly. To prove himself to be more than a shadow. But he passed by it, fully aware that he couldn't. Maybe next year he could join.

The Book Club stand was on the other side of that one, with only two other students waiting in line to sign up on the paper. When it was his turn, he noted how the girl who was managing the stand glanced at his stomach, but she didn't comment on it.

"Eh, can I help you?" the girl asked, hiding her discomfort the best she could.

"I would like to sign up." Kuroko monotonously said to her.

"Here," she said, handing one of the empty sheets of paper with no further comment. He gave it back once he filled it out, taking one of the pamphlets on display to see when were they going to have their first meeting and all the other info of the club he decided to join.

That wasn't so bad. Uncomfortable, yes, but he could deal with it.

He decided to explore the school a little further. But then, as he walked towards one of the buildings, he felt one student accidentally bump against his arm. He looked back, sensing a familiar aura similar to the one of his previous light, but this one was wilder, more animalistic.

The dark redhead paid him no mind, not even apologizing, as he rushed to the Basketball Club stand to sign up. And as he stared after him, he couldn't help but be reminded of Aomine. They looked nothing alike physically, but that aura! It was almost the same, and that alone scared him because he didn't want to deal with Aomine, or anyone like him again. So he walked away, far from the student that didn't even know he existed.

He hoped he didn't bump into him anymore.

The caramel haired girl examined each application they received (not many) with slight disappointment.

Not many were interested in joining the Seirin basketball team, most stating that it was filled with losers that wouldn't stand a chance against the other stronger schools in the area.

"What a bunch of cowards," she complained, rubbing the headache off her temple. The time for signups was over and she didn't get any new players with great potential. "How are we supposed to go against the Generation of Miracles with this team?"

"I think we'll do great. Our team's the best," Koganei said with too much excitement for her liking.

She ignored him, instead thinking about the chances of her team winning any tournaments this year.

"Our team is good," she said, "but we're going to need a miracle if we wish to beat any team with someone that came from Teiko. What am I supposed to do?"

"That Kagami dude looked strong."

"He's the only promising newbie we got," Riko said. The male had said that he came from America, so his stats were higher than most of the other players. But strength wasn't all. She had to see how well he could follow her strategies. "We'll have to see how well he does during practice."

"See you after school then coach," Koganei said, giving her a mock salute as he walked towards the entrance before Riko could stop him.

"Wait! You idiot," she tried calling for him, but he was already too far away. She sighed, making a mental note to give him extra training. She grumbled to herself. "The nerve of that boy, making me clean up everything by myself."

She picked up the pile of papers that were messily scattered in the stand. Good thing she didn't have to remove the stand itself, since that was the job of the school staff. She had a lot of work to do this year, but with plenty of hard work, her team will be fit enough to become the best in Japan.

As she started heading inside the school along with the other students, she clashed against the Book Club president, both of their papers falling on the floor.

"Akane-san, please be more careful," Riko scolded the clumsy girl, starting to pick up the fallen papers.

"I'm so sorry Riko-chan. I was in a rush." She apologized, picking up her own papers with haste and leaving fast. Riko did the same as her, since she didn't want to be late for class at the start of the year.

For the start of the day, she remained oblivious of the papers in her possession, not knowing that some of them didn't belong to her or her team…
