A/N

I admit I've never played a game of Dungeons and Dragons before, but I do have a friend who's shared many experiences and complaints about some of the decisions made by his DM. And having started watching the cartoon recently thanks to YouTube, I have to wonder - is Dungeon Master really benevolent? Or is he just a trolling DM that likes tormenting his player characters, cackling away as he devises the campaign?

I dunno, but came up with this as a result. :)

Puppetmaster

Six players stand before me,

To them classes I assign.

A mix of stats and virtues,

Yes, I think that's fine.

I'm the DM and a player,

Conflicted interest? Nay!

We're in my realm that has my rules,

And that's the way I play.

So quests are given, foes are faced,

And so I roll the dice.

It pays off, XP goes up,

My, this feels nice.

The game goes on, the days are long,

But I'm having so much fun.

Watching the fights, watching the fury,

Watching as they run.

Perhaps one day I'll let them go,

To their world set them free.

And I promise when that happens,

I'll say to them "GG."

But for now it's still my game,

These characters, still mine.

Time's come again for questing,

For XP I have to grind.
