"Have faith and doubt not"

Kagari's face shone with joy.

With trembling hands he grabbed Kira's hand and glowered at it as if it was the rarest thing in the world.

Kogami cocked his head to one side, feeling his cheeks redden out of shame.

'Damn Kagari, I shouldn't have submitted to his requests….'

But she didn't seem bothered at all by Kagari's antics. She smiled at Kagari as if they'd known each other for quite a long time.

"I'm glad to meet Kogami's fellow," she said, flicking a bang covering her head off cutely.

Kagari grinned widely. "I love your music," he said straight off the reel and immediately blushed, lowering his head.

That's something I probably shouldn't say, huh?" he muttered. "I guess you've heard that so many times you're bored sick of it."

"No," Kira replied shaking her head negatively. "I'll wager you know there are many opponents of my music? I personally think that only few can feel and understand it, especially if they were incarcerated and marginalized during the Sibyl."

Kagari lifted his head and his eyes shone with gratitude. However, the misty-eyed moment was unfortunately interrupted.
His belly growled loudly.

"Damn!" he smiled. "I think you don't need anything else to prove I'm hungry as a wolf."

"Great," said Kira grasping his hand and pulling him behind her. "I think I'll cave in to my hunger soon too! Kogami, you coming?"

The lunch went very pleasantly. Kira discussed non-stop with Kagari exchanging jokes and memories from the era of the Sibyl.

Watching them both Kogami couldn't help unconsciously catching himself thinking about what he'd encountered while he was an enforcer.
But the way Kira faced the past and the hardships through which she had passed and the way she presented it to Kagari made him see many things from a different angle. Finally, with a resigned sigh he was only able to accept silently that he wouldn't turn back time.

Many recognized Kira and approached her asking for autographs. A sweet smile adorned her pretty face as she obligingly took pictures with the people who wanted to, greeting them politely and thanking them for their wishes.

Bright red from the excitement, Kagari sighed, "It was the best day of my life!" he admitted, glowing with joy. "I never thought you'd be so down to earth and that we'd have so many things in common that we could talk about!"

Kira nodded firmly, her beetle-black eyes twinkling with joy.

"We must do it again!" she exclaimed. Kagari nodded, as they both turned their faces to Kogami, who was paying the bill.
Both their faces fell when they saw the look on Kogami's face.

His face had darkened.

" ….Ko? "Kagari asked, perplexed.

"I just received a message from Akane" Kogami responded. "We must return to the section as soon as possible. Kira, I'll drop you home."

Entering the car, Kogami switched on the news. The momentary static gave way to a crisp, clear voice.

".. But Kanogia Eno gave an exclusive interview during which he explains the reasons he won't cancel the scheduled appearance."

On the screen appeared a face of a man about 40, with harsh features. Grayed hair and blue eyes were prominent, as were the lines running across his cheeks.

With a face betraying no emotions at all, he opened his mouth to speak.

"Everyone knows that our sect currently counts the largest number of faithful. Nobody and nothing can frighten us. Yes. I admit that we may have lost some of our most important members, but that does not mean we do not have enough strength to continue. On the contrary, these losses make us stronger. These are signs that we are on the right track while being tested on how strong and united we are. After the fall of Sibyll we all needed to believe in something.

We are one.

Come to our scheduled speech at our ziggurat. We will embrace you and you shall become one with us. "

Kira's eyes narrowed. She suddenly tapped on the screen and zoomed into a certain segment of the image on screen. Both wrists were adorned with elaborate tattoos of ideograms. She froze the picture.

She turned her head to Kogami.

Their eyes met.

"This is your lead. The corpses in a praying pose and cut hands. Whoever is doing this is after the members of this sect ..."
