Chapter 8

Curious Findings

"Miss Rosie, I'll see what else I could find at the palace"

"Oh, ok" Rosalina responded watching Ray buzz away. She wondered what Ray was about. She needed to pay attention to him more; especially, in regards to Prince Eric. She was snapped out of her thoughts when Eric spoke.

"So, how were the auditions Lina?" Eric asked curiously, strangely wanting to know what happened with her more than the items she found that could help him.

She smiled so brightly "I am a dancer!" she said happily.

"OH YES! I knew you would be wonderful!" Eric said knowingly, extremely happy for her. "Thanks Eric!"

"I'm really happy for you Lina" He said seeing this shine in her eyes. He was still curious about William. "Who did you see at the palace?" he asked as in indirect way of getting the information he wanted.

"Oh, well, there was this one woman that was so rude to me when I got there." She said, her eyebrows furrowed as she spoke of her in remembrance. "What did she look like?" he asked curiously.

"She had dark hair, and was um, she had an accent, she had...curves" she said "and she was really mean. I didn't like her."

"You saw Lady Sofia. She's a horrible woman."

"I can tell. How do you know her? I mean um..." she blushed realizing that was a stupid question. She just wanted to know if Eric was ever involved with that woman, but realized she had no business asking or even thinking such things. "That's a stupid question. Nevermind"

"She tried to seduce me but my pal Beckett found out what she was trying to do. She wanted me to fall for her so I could marry her. It was about power and greed." He confessed.

Rosalina looked at him "oh, good thing your friend discovered that. You would be married" she said realizing her slip, she blushed furiously. "to her, I mean." She added trying to recover from her slip, but finding that difficult with the way Eric smiled at her.

"Right. Who else did you see?"

"Hmm... there was this charming man"

Eric frowned sure that it was who he was anxious she met. "William?" he asked. "Yes! William! That's it! He seemed nicer."

"Just be careful. He's a player."

"Eric, can I ask you something?" she asked curiously. "Yes, anything Lina."

"Um..." she bit her lip for a moment, but then continued "Why didn't you tell me that you held the auditions?"

He let out a sigh "I'm not such a good guy Lina. My father turned me into a frog because I was a player, too. I didn't treat girls so nicely. I partied a lot. I didn't care about anyone. I was embarrassed. I didn't want you to know that about me." He said moving behind a rock so she wouldn't see him.

Rosalina smiled thankful for his honesty with her. "I appreciate you telling me the truth. You can't be all bad. You helped me" she said gratefully.

He smiled and peeked from behind the rock to look to her. She smiled finding him so cute. She really hoped that she could help Prince Eric.

"Did you meet anyone else?" Eric asked still hiding behind the rock somewhat. "Well, everyone else wasn't that memorable. Except, Oh Prince Eric, I met this absolutely lovely woman. She was so kind to me. She was wearing the most beautiful robes, and she said she wanted to see me dance."

Eric smiled listening to her. "She had short golden hair and her eyes were so lovely. The loveliest blue color I've seen. She said her name was Clairise"

Eric's eyes lit up "You saw my mother, Lina!" he said happily, now hopping out from where he was hiding.

A sweet smile swept her face "That was your mother?"

Eric nodded. Rosalina smiled brighter "Oh, she was absolutely lovely, Eric. I hope to see her again." She said causing him to smile brighter himself. "How is she?" He asked wishing that he could see his mother again.

Rosalina sat down in the grass "She was so sweet. She seemed happy to talk to me. Of course, I didn't know she was your mother or I would have asked her. Do you want me to tell her where you are? Maybe she can come see you!" Rosalina suggested.

Eric looked down "I don't want my mother to see me like this"

Rosalina looked at him "but, she's your mother. She would just be happy to see you"

"No, Lina. I have to do this the right way."

Rosalina nodded.

There was a pause, when Eric looked to her "Did you see my father?"

She shook her head "no, but I think I was in his office. I had found this" she opened the flap of her bag and pulled out the picture of the boy with his father and the puppy. She placed the photo into the grass so he could see. He hopped closer and looked at it in surprise; it seemed that his eyes were becoming glossy.

"I think he misses you" she said looking at him. "Did you find anything else?" he asked

She nodded and pulled out the blue book she had "Ray told me to get this, but the pages are blank. I don't know why" She placed it in the grass and opened the book, showing him that the pages were empty. He looked to her "I don't know"

She shrugged and pulled out the torn map "I found this map. I don't know where it leads, but maybe you know?" she asked placing the map beside the book. He looked at it in confusion.

She started to become disappointed seeing that nothing was of much help. He looked to her to see her saddened face "Don't be upset. I'm just happy you are so kind to help me, Lina."

She looked to him with a small smile, before she pulled out the card with the names of the two witches. "Ray found this"

He looked at the names in wonder "What is that?"

"Ray told me they are witches"

His eyes grew wide "Witches?"

She nodded "Ray told me that your father may have gotten help to cast the spell on you. And whichever witch helped him, maybe can help you"

Eric smiled "That's great. Do you think the map is where they are?"

She shook her head "I'm not certain"

He looked deep in thought, but Rosalina had to tell him what Ray told her. "Prince Eric" she spoke softly. He looked to her listening "Ray said something in the palace. He told me that your father talked to bad people? Do you know how Ray could know that?" she asked feeling she needed to tell him

Eric looked at her "No! Do you think he is a spy?!" he said angrily.

Her eyes went wide "A spy?"

"I knew I should never have trusted that bug!" he said feeling angrier.

"Eric, I, I don't think he's a spy. I do think he is hiding something, but he is trying to help us."

He looked upset, and then saw Ray flying toward them. Rosalina looked nervous, hoping she didn't mess up by telling Eric. As soon as Ray approached them, Eric hopped up capturing Ray in between his palms "Why have you lied to me!?" He said angrily.

Ray looked in fear. "Prince Eric"

"Are you spying on me!? FOR WHO?" he asked wanting to know what was going on. "I uh worked for da King"

Rosalina looked surprised "The King? Eric's father?"

Eric let him go, the shock filling him. "What happened to you?" he asked wondering why he was a bug

"Sumbody changed me, boss. I knew too much"

"WHO?" Eric asked, the frustration building.

"It was...Lady Sofia"

Eric and Rosalina looked furious "Prince Eric, do you want me to, to rip her hair out! I can hurt her!" she said feeling irritated on his behalf. Eric looked to her with a smile "Lina, I don't want you to. I want you to be the inside for me. I need you to be unnoticed in the palace, so you are unsuspecting"

She nodded "Ok"

"We must find the witches, boss" Ray informed "They the key to your freedom"

Eric looked to Rosalina "I'm not allowed within these walls. The palace is off limits to me. Even its perimeter. How will I find them?"

Rosalina smiled looking "I can do it Eric. I will see if people from my village know about them."

Eric looked to her feeling awed by her kindness and willingness to help him at any cost. "Thank you, Lina. I am forever endowed to your kindness"

Daniel laughed looking to Betty. She looked at him "What? What's so funny?"

He smiled looking at her and how adorable and charming she was. "I just love you so much"

She looked at his eyes seeing the shine in them. "I am forever in love with you" she said with a smirk.

He laughed and met her lips for a kiss. She placed her hand to his face feeling this warmth flood her as he kissed her. When he pulled away, she looked at his eyes "how am I supposed to continue the story when you got me all flustered now."

He laughed and kissed her again holding her face in his hands deepening the kiss taking her breath away. She felt like he was lifting her in the sky with this kiss. When he left her lips, he looked into her eyes, his eyes taking her breath away even further. "Why are you so gorgeous?" she whispered.

He laughed "Betty, how do you expect ME to not attack you every minute I look at you? Can't we take a break? I want you so bad" he whispered close to her ear, making her dizzy.

"What about the story?" she whispered back.

"Do you seriously not want me as bad as I want you?" he asked. Her hands came up to his face "Of course I want you. I want you every time I look at you" she said with her lips close to his "but, we also tend to have more fun, after we wait."

"wait? We've been telling this story for an hour now"

She laughed "Daniel" the way her eyes looked as she looked at him made him want her more. She was so freaking cute and adorable. He wanted to kiss her senseless.
