Dragon Ball Z Changes: Killingfield (Part 2)

By TheTrueTGX and DarkDomination

Before we start the chapter, I want to answer a few questions I saw in regards to the previous chapter.

'How did the weapon pierce Nappa's chest? He's too strong to be hurt by that!'

I, TGX, have a few points on why I believe the attack was possible.

1: His chest was already exposed.

Yamcha's final burst of energy tore through Nappa's armor in the middle of his chest and slightly burned him. This presented the others with a nice target/ bulls-eye.

2: Nappa's attention was on Chichi.

Chichi brought the weapon with her, but passed it to Tien after she kicked Nappa in the head, drawing his attention. It's been shown in the official story that if a fighter has their guard down, then they can be hurt by a weaker foe. Take the rock MSSJ Goku incident for example. Or Goku getting scrapped by some bullets in Dragon Ball Super.

(DDom) Wait... Bullets?! Really?! He took gunfire to the face as a kid and walked it off and now... ugh...

(TGX) ... I thought it was funny...

And yes, if Nappa saw the attack coming he would have just flexed on them and laughed in their faces. But in this case, Tien had the opportunity to strike Nappa in a possible weak point. Really, all it did was make Nappa bleed. Not all that much damage.

'Anything regarding Chichi'

Yes. We know she is annoying. She is one of the worst characters in the canon. She has no real role in the original story if she isn't married to Goku or having his kids.

... Maybe that last one was too much.

But we see her character and feel that she has potential. We don't want to just throw away a character just because we don't like them. We refuse to 'bash' a character without a good reason.

We hope you will stand her for just a little bit longer. And hey, she might turn over a new leaf sooner rather than later ;)

Anyways. thanks once again for checking out our story. And on to the chapter!~

In the Otherworld Check In Station

"I... died, huh..."

The lone bandit was by himself in his mind, reflecting on the last moments of his life.

"I hope my last actions helped them." he paused, then sighed. "Knowing my luck, my actions did nothing to that freak... damn it."

"Uhm, buddy? You okay."

"Damn it... I really am useless!"

"Get ahold of yourself, man!"

Yamcha's eyes bolted open, now aware of the touch of another being. Someone had their hand on his shoulder.

"You've been talking to yourself for the past five minutes. If you don't move, then we'll have to let the others cut in front of you."

It took a few seconds for Yamcha to process what was before him.

A blue skinned man, with slicked back hair, squared glasses, and a worried look on his face was holding his shoulder.

"Now, if you could so kindly move forward, sir."

Yamcha turned towards the direction that the attendant was pointing at. A large building. A check in station of sorts?

"Oh god..." Yamcha groaned. "This is hell, isn't it?"

"No, not at all." The kind oni replied. "Once inside you'll be judged for all of your actions during your life time. Though... you do have your body." He added, poking the frozen Yamcha in the chest. "I only met a few folks who came in like this. Some important looking lady a long, long time ago and recently a man wearing a gi. Say, you look like you're wearing the same sort of outfit! Did you know him? Y'know, cheerful fella with crazy hair."

"That sounds like Goku alright. And, I hope you don't mind me asking you this, but what is up with all these clouds? Why are these clouds bumping against me?!" Yamcha exclaimed as he waved at the four or so bundles of spirit energy.

"I wouldn't have the slightest idea. Maybe they like you?"

"I hope not... They keep growling at me..."

Back on the battlefield

Another life, taken by the Saiyan menace. Tien, who was once one of the most feared assassins in the world, laid down his life for his friend, Chiaotzu. And his lifeless corpse was tossed aside like it was nothing by the man who killed him.

"Not again-" Piccolo snarled.

"Damn it..." Krillin cursed under his breath. The former monk had long since come to terms that he was not likely to survive this whole ordeal, but seeing both Tien and Yamcha get slaughtered before him was unbelievable. "We need to put this monster down somehow... Or stall them long enough for Goku to get here!"

Gohan, who tore his gaze off the broken form of the once tall and stoic martial artist, nodded in affirmation to Krillin's call to action.

"You three will need some help with doing that." Chichi stated as she joined her fellow fighters. She met the gazes of the three, then, with a sigh, nodded to them. "We can beat him. Yamcha left that opening in the monster's armor and Tien got a clear shot in. If they can make him bleed individually, then we can put this son of a bitch down for good as a group."

"And what about his friend over there?" Piccolo added, with a raised eyebrow, in reference to Vegeta, who watched on from afar.

"We can cross only one mountain at a time, Piccolo." Krillin gripped as he slid into a battle-ready stance, alongside the others.

"Enough chatter... Now is about time I finished killing you all!" Nappa roared, loud enough to shake the last four defenders of the planet.

The four leapt away from a downward fist that split the ground in half, launching stones into the air.

"Hit him!"

Piccolo threw his hands out and barraged the Saiyan with a volley of ki. And he was quickly joined by the others, forcing Nappa to defend himself from the onslaught.

'This still isn't enough.' Gohan thought as he watched the enraged Saiyan protect himself with his overwhelming aura. 'Piccolo might have a trick up his sleeves, like the Special Beam Cannon, but he doesn't have the time to utilize it. I'll have to think of some way to distract this guy...'

The maddened Saiyan's eyes darted between his 4 targets. Each one gathering their strength to defend themselves from the next attack.

'Which of these losers is the closest?'

His eyes fell on the youngest in the batch. The half-Saiyan.

"I never really cared for your doofus of an uncle, kid! Care to pay him a visit in the next dimension?!"

Gohan knew what he had to do; throwing away the last few remnants of fear that resided within him. His plan had to work, he thought. 'Either Piccolo or Krillin will have something that can put a dent in this guy. I just hope they understand what I'm setting up'

"Bring it on, you dummy!~" the youthful warrior shouted, his ki amplifying as he met the opposing Saiyan midway. Their fists clashed, but Gohan lost out against the much larger fighter.

"Gohan! He's going to get himself killed if he fights by himself!"

'No, that's not it.' Piccolo thought, pondering why Gohan had a sudden change in his demeanor. 'He has something in mind.'

The child used his much smaller frame to avoid many of his opponents oncoming punches and swipes. And in the skirmish, Piccolo noticed that Gohan's eyes darted back and forth from Nappa and the sky. But why was he looking in that direction, Piccolo thought.

That's when it finally hit the lone Namekian.

A toothy smile stretched across his face at the brilliance and sheer guts on display by Gohan. "Krillin, Chichi, sit back for a second. Do not move in until I give the say so."

Chichi withheld the urge to argue with her green skinned ally, much to her frustration. "Alright."

"I hope he knows what he's doing up there." Krillin said, ready to hop in at a moment's notice. "What about you, Piccolo? What'll you do?"

"This-" Piccolo stated, while he gathered his ki into his fingertips. "Gohan has something planned out. And you two will listen to him when your close to him. He'll tell you the rest. Got it?"

"Yes." Chichi replied with a nod.

"Sure thing, Piccolo."

"Good... Now GET IN THERE, YOU TWO!"

Vegeta watched the fight between the two warriors with a bit of amusement. Looking at the two and comparing them, anyone would assume the seven foot plus tall freak of nature would pound the six-year-old like it was nothing, but the child was just too small and too fast to be hit. But everyone knew that a direct, clean hit would kill the kid easily.

"Brave kid. Or stupid, more likely."

He felt something was off when the bald earthling and the woman rejoined the fray, but not the Namekian. Was he chickening out, he thought.

No, he turned to see Piccolo was gathering his ki for some sort of attack. If he had been wearing his scouter at that moment, he would have witnessed Piccolo's power level skyrocket, but from his lone point of view, all he saw was the Namekian powering up an attack. A pitiful one at that.

"Really, with the way his hand is positioned, he looks like he's about to blast himself out of existence. Taking the coward's way out! You better load it up real well pal, or else you'd wish you had killed yourself."

The battle was beginning to turn in favor of the Earth born warriors. The attacks were pushing Nappa back further and further, with Gohan closing with an open-handed fist at his side.

'Let's see if he's ready for THIS!'

"PAPER!" he shouted, driving his palm into the side of Nappa's skull.

"Why you little-"

"SCISSORS!" Gohan throwing two fingers into Nappa's widened eyes, earning him a pained scream from the former Saiyan general.

"MY EYES!~"

"aaaand- ROCK!" The last hit struck the blinded Saiyan in the chest; right where his wound had just begun to quit bleeding, but the blow reopened the wound and tearing the surrounding flesh away.

"You little SHIT!" Nappa bellowed out, swinging his fists against the direction he believed the youngster was, but found nothing but air.

Gohan turned his head to the side to get Krillin's attention and mouthed something to him; lest the Saiyan's catch any of it.

"Oh, that's it?" Krillin murmured under his breath.

"And 'that' is?" Chichi asked, turning her gaze to the bald monk.

"Let Gohan do his thing, then let Piccolo cap the bastard."

'Piccolo...' she turned her gaze downward to the stone still warrior. He was charging that attack for little over a minute now, but gave no indication of 'what' he was doing.

"So, we let him do 'whatever', then what? Shouldn't we try to pin the bastard down so Piccolo can hit his move?"

"I don't know, Chichi, just-"

Gohan threw a quickly formed Masenko at the backside of Nappa's head, drawing his attention.

"I found you!" the behemoth shouted with bloodlust overflowing from his screams. "I'll gut ya and toss your innards into that stupid star behind you!"

"Yeah, get a good look at this, pal!"

And faster that Nappa could react, Gohan threw his hands in front of his face and closed his eyes.

'That move!' Krillin quickly recognized the motion. And he knew what was coming next.

"Solar Flare!"

The attack was sudden and unpredictable for the Saiyan duo, who caught the full brunt of the assault to their eyes. The two let out howls as they clutched their damaged eyes.

It was a technique taught to Gohan by his father. It was meant for the possibility of Piccolo attacking the Son/Briefs household many years ago, but was now not only mastered by the child, but amplified by the sun assisting him from behind.

"Smart move kid... but I still need some more time, damn it." Piccolo swore as he felt his energy growing closer and closer to completion. "Just a few more seconds!"

Chichi blocked the intense rays by obscuring her vision with her forearms and shutting her eyes. "The kid actually nailed it!" She cheered, but noticed that Piccolo hadn't launched that attack of his. "Damn it. Does he need more time? The hell can I-"

That was when the monstrous Saiyan cried out in pain. And the pain in his voice triggered something in the back of her mind. A long since memory.

A memory of a time many, many years ago when she was still a carefree, innocent child waiting for her 'prince in shining armor' to sweep her off her feet. And a certain monkey boy that she took an instant liking to.

And how she paralyzed him by simply gripping his tail.

"That's it-" she spoke, putting the brown appendage that was now flailing behind Nappa's backside in the center of her focus. "Here I go!"

The sudden take off by the battle hungry maiden wasn't surprising to Krillin. That was one of her quirks, he figured out long ago. But the way she went after Nappa made his heart grow still.

'Oh no- she's going for his tail! -'

Chichi somehow knew about the Saiyan's natural weakness, but she was ignorant of the fact that said weakness can be trained to the point of no longer being a handicap. Something he learned from one of his earliest fights with Goku.

"Chichi! Don't do it! -"

"He got my eyes! I- I can't see!" Nappa cried out, rubbing his wrists against his eyes in the hope of getting them back into order.

The effects were only temporary, but the attack and its effects left the Saiyan in a state of panic.

"I'll kill you brat! I'll-"

A new, sudden sense of pain crawled up his spine.

A pair of small hands wrapped themselves around his tail.

"Ha! I know about your kinds' weakness! Now cry some more you-" Chichi taunted proudly, but her face grew pale as the Saiyan turned an ear to her direction.

He might be blind, but he could still hear her. Feel her presence.

He clinched his fists.

'No... no no no... this- this paralyzed Goku!'

She held on for dear life, squeezing the appendage with all her might, but that did little to stop the devastating backhand she received.

The back of Nappa's massive hand crashed into the side of Chichi's head. Her ear and all its inner workings exploded under the pressure of such a force. His knuckles sent shockwaves rippling through her skull, back and forth like it was a water balloon.

Her body was launched like missile into a distant mountain side.

Krillin rocketed after her, but a sad realization crept into his mind.

Her ki was quickly dropping.

That blow was too much for the poor woman.

Chichi was dead.

"Damn it~" Vegeta cursed, blinking until his sight was about back to normal. He heard a hellacious sound of flesh against flesh; followed up by an explosion, but couldn't tell if it was Nappa or one of the earthlings.

After a quick recount, he decided that Nappa had taken another one out for good.

"Shame. She would have been of some use to us." he chuckled, then laughed to himself. Deep down, he would have killed the nagging woman the first time she bitched at him or made a single snarky remark. "Good riddance."

"Chichi-" Piccolo winced as he saw the dust cloud arising from where she was sent to. "I'll make sure these bastards don't get their wish."

'Then you already know what is to come, much like I have, Piccolo.'

In his mind, he could picture the aged Kami looking towards him, with a look of acceptance on his face.

"Yes. If they kill me, then their reason for being here will be inert. And if not..."

'I already got a plan in place, in case we all fall.'

Kami turned to his follower, Popo, who gave a saddened nod.

"I'll inform Misses Bulma about your birth planet, Kami, and have her go there to revive everyone who has fallen with their Dragon Balls. I only pray that the journey is easy for her and the others."

"Then I have no real worries." Piccolo added with a dry laugh. "Live or die, they get nothing. That's a relief."

'Because that means your friend can live even a little longer, perhaps.'

Piccolo remained focus; choosing to form the last of his attack.

"I'm ready!" Piccolo growled, the energy around his fingertips sparked and pulsed with killing intent, ready to make the technique three for three. In Saiyan slaying, that is.

Krillin and Gohan took the window of opportunity that Chichi created for them, dazing the Saiyan who was feeling something after having his unprotected tail squeezed and pulled. They bombarded him with combination of Krillin's Kamehameha and Gohan's Masenko. The blasts forced the behemoth staggering downward, but the attack gave their positioning to him.

"Die!" Nappa shouted, swinging a fist full of ki at them, with more than enough energy to tear them apart into nothingness.

The two combined their ki in an attempt to slow down the attack, but it did little more than have it detonate several meters away from them rather than taking them out instantly.

The blast consumed them and knocked them into the ground below.

"Where's the Namekian trash?!"

"Special Beam Cannon!"

Piccolo launched the attack upwards, aimed right at the center of the Saiyan's back. The beam of energy flew faster than light itself at the target.

Vegeta, who recognized that the attack was much like Frieza's own Death Beam attack, but was weaker. Much weaker, but could do a lot of damage.

"That must be what they did to kill Raditz... Nappa! Below you! Dodge!" he commanded.

Nappa had but a moment to take in all the information. Something was below him. Something that spooked even Vegeta.

His instincts kicked in and he turned his body sideways in an attempt to sidestep whatever was coming for him.

The action might have saved his skin, but the narrow beam of energy did hit a major target.

The Special Beam Cannon tore right through Nappa's tail, severing it at just the base of his waist.

A blood curdling scream came pouring out of the aged Saiyan's open maw. His body froze up. His back tightened and his shoulders popped back.

With his ki all out of wack, he was helpless to the forces of gravity.

He hit the ground beneath him with several hundred pounds of force.

"I missed anything vital..." Piccolo shrugged his shoulders, but kept his guard up with what little of his power remained. "And that attack took a bit out of me as well."

He looked for his remaining teammates, but found Krillin to be picking himself back up alongside Gohan.

At least they're still alive, Piccolo thought with a sense of acceptance overcoming him.

Nappa was still alive.

The loss of his tail threw his sense of balance out of wack, but from his current position, he had a clear line of sight on the lone Namekian.

And Nappa was pissed beyond the point of being able to think straight.

"You took my tail. So, I'll take your life!" he shouted, with ki gathering in the back of his throat. He couldn't trust his own hands to aim; they were too busy keeping him upright on the ground.

The ground beneath him shook as his energy was launched out of his mouth in a display of his barbaric strength and monster-like heritage.

The mouth blast was far stronger than anything Piccolo had ever attempted to dodge or block.

And he knew that this was it.

Gohan opened his eyes to see the stream of pale white energy rush out of Nappa's mouth and crash into Piccolo's body, consuming the Namekian warrior.

"Piccolo!" Gohan cried out, reaching for his friend, his mentor.

And all of Nappa's energy tore through the hardened warrior.

Despite everything and the aftermath, Piccolo remained on his feet. Whether it was due to his sheer determination or last of his strength didn't matter. It was all he had before his body hit the ground, lifeless.

"Piccolo... no..."

"Gohan..." Krillin looked down at the child at his side.

Vegeta cursed under his breath. "Damn it, Nappa. You killed our chances of getting out wish... It's your own fault you lost your tail..."

The fight was over, Krillin thought. The best chances Gohan had of surviving was if he stayed behind to keep them busy as Gohan fled. He reached down for the child's shoulder, but was taken aback by the feeling that Gohan's ki was beginning to boil up. Rising!

Gohan was consumed by his rage. A rage that threatened to tear the child apart.

Vegeta's ears perked as he heard the child scream out...

"Don't cry, kid. You'll be joining him soon enough." The child's power was felt even by him, but it was still nothing near Nappa's might.

The half Saiyan rose to his feet, his shoulders shaking and fists clenched.

"You... killed... Piccolooo-!" Gohan screamed with tears running down his face that was reddened in anger.

The anger Gohan felt was unlike any he had felt before. He was not filled with the desire to fight.

No. He was aiming to kill. To strike down the monster that killed his friend. To avenge his friend.

The wounded Saiyan warrior struggled to find his balance after having his tail blasted off. He could hear the child screaming, but couldn't give less of a damn.

"I'll getcha, kid!" Nappa screamed, meeting Gohan's outstretched fist with his own.

A punch from the mighty Nappa should have killed the child outright, but the boy had somehow met the oncoming force with even more force.

"What?!" Nappa barked out as his arm was forced back by Gohan.

The child let out an almost primal growl as he bent his body to drive his feet into Nappa's gut with more than enough power to shatter Nappa's armor.

Vegeta was taken back by the sudden shift in the fight.

'Impossible. Has this kid somehow amplified his own power enough to where he can now face Nappa?' Vegeta thought, but quickly dismissed it. 'No, Nappa just lost his tail. That would explain it.'

A man of his status would not have been able to comprehend what Gohan was capable of when he was driven to a corner with no way out.

No way out, but through the man before him.

Nappa couldn't believe what was happening! The kid, this half breed, was able to keep up with him. Even in such a weakened state; he should have been able to kill this kid like it was nothing. But here they were, going blow for blow, and the kid was winning.

The anger was beginning to blind the Saiyan.

Gohan, in his rage, swung at the hulking beast, but a lapse in judgement cost him the hit, giving Nappa the opportunity he needed to end this thing.

Wordlessly, Nappa wrapped his fingers around the child's throat and brought him in for a brain rattling headbutt.

He looked down at his much smaller opponent, who was dazed by the sudden shock to his system. A glazed look overtook the youngster.

"Just die like the trash you are already!"

Nappa reared his arm back and launched Gohan skyward.

"Enjoy the fireworks, kid! They're to DIE for!~" he shouted, gathering ki into his outstretched hand and firing off an orb of energy at the descending fighter.

Gohan tried to fight against the tightening grip of unconsciousness, but could only muster a small fraction of his ki to form a thin shroud around him.

The attack detonated; setting the child ablaze.

Gohan's charred form dropped from the plume of smoke.

"And the lil' bastard is dead! Can't say he went out without a fight, eh Vegeta?" the bloody lipped Saiyan chuckled, turning to his prince.

But Vegeta was not looking at him or the falling child.

"It's about time he shown up."

"What? Who-"

"GOHAAAN!"

Nappa's attention was turned towards the sound.

And from the heavens descended a man wearing a gi much similar to the ones worn by many of the other Earth based fighters.

With not even a few milliseconds to spare, he caught the child before he collided with the ground.

The man cradled the young warrior; speaking so softly that even Nappa and Vegeta were not able to hear.

"I'm sorry, Gohan. I wish I had gotten her sooner. I hope you can forgive me."

The child gave no response, only staring up at the man.

"Hey! You here to get your ass kicked as well?"

Vegeta turned his sights from Nappa and returned them towards the newest arrival.

'Strange... He looks so much like Turles. I do not believe they are siblings, but the resemblance is uncanny.' he thought as he let his crossed arms down.

"Are you the one that done all of this?" The man spoke, pointing an accusatory finger at Nappa. "If so, then this is your final warning. You and your friend leave and swear to never harm anyone else ever again, or I'll make you BOTH pay!"

"You sound pretty confident," Nappa mockingly bowed to the newest combatant. "You must be Kakarott. Hate to break it to you, pal, but most of your friends are dead and that brat looks like he'll be joining them!"

That idea seemed to remind the lone, earth raised Saiyan of something and he pulled what appeared to be a bean out from one of his wristbands.

"Thank goodness Korin tossed this Senzu Bean when I was making my way down here! Though I have just this one... Gohan is really hurt and-"

He looked over to see Krillin, who was knocked unconscious from the sheer force of Gohan's power being so close to him several moments prior.

"I'll have to split it between the two." he said, breaking the mystical bean in two.

"HEY! I'm talking to you, Kakarott!"

"My name is not Kakarott." Goku replied as he pushed the small portion of Senzu bean into Gohan's bloodied mouth.

The bean's magical properties were at half power, but were strong enough to revive the child and clean his wounds.

"Wha... Dad? You're... here..."

"It's alright, Gohan. I'm here." The battle readied warrior smiled down at his son. "And the killing stops now."

(TGX) And like that, we are that much closer to the end of the Saiyan Saga part of Changes

And I'd like to make an announcement. I, TGX, will be working on a little side project for Changes. Nothing too time consuming. Just little 'one offs' inspired by kewl/epic ideas either one of us has, but wouldn't fit into Changes without it going totally off the rails.

The idea is... wait for it... DBZC: Another Path!

...

I had in mind several fights/events I'd love to write, but none of them would fit into the Changes story. And for the first one we have... a slight take on a section of this chapter.

It'll look into what could have happened if Gohan's rage awoke something else within him. A power lost to time and only remembered by a small handful of people. The strength to topple any foe! A power that once made the Saiyans the most feared force in the universe!

The first submission for Dragon Ball Z: Changes/ Another Path will be 'Gohan... The Super Saiyan?!'

Be sure to check it out when its finished and thanks for all the support guys!
