She doesn't say a single word. Fin turns towards the young officer.

"Davis, I know her. You can release her into my custody."

"Who is she?"

"No one," he insists.

"Okay," Davis agrees.

Fin ushers the woman from the back of the police cruiser into his house. He locks the door, and watches the cruiser drive off. Finally he turns towards her, and breaks the silence.

"I don't believe this."

"Let me explain," she begs.

"You don't have to," he argues.

"I had no choice…" she begins.

He reaches out, and wraps his arms around her. He embraces her tightly. He breathes in, and catches a whiff of her hair. She hugs him back, and once again he is the one who speaks first.

"I know," he responds on the verge of tears. Finally, he lets go. He takes a step back, and looks at her closely. "What the hell were you doing poking around the backyard?"

"I'm sorry."

"You could have knocked," he responds.

"I didn't want to interrupt. I didn't want to disrupt your life, I was just curious," she admits.

"The girls aren't here," he admits. He points to a picture on the wall behind her, "That's them."

"They're beautiful."

"I thought that…" he trails off, feeling overcome by emotion.

"When did you become so emotional?"

"It is all of the estrogen I am around day in, and day out. I'm glad you're here."

"I shouldn't be. I am supposed to be in some motel room, but I just couldn't stay there."

"Bed bugs?"

She grins, "A gut feeling," she answers.

"Please tell me that Rollins didn't know about this."

"She has no idea."

"I missed you."

"I am so sorry. I just wanted to give them a chance, and I didn't know how else to do it."

"You're here now, and that's all that matters. What is your plan?"

"I am just going to lay low until the trial."

"You can crash in the girl's room for the night, let me show you the way."

She nods in agreement.

He leads her upstairs to a very feminine room. He flips on the light, and reveals a half princess, half cowgirl, pony themed room. He points to a bookshelf.

"Their photo albums are there."

"Thanks Fin."

"I know that…."

She cuts him off, "I assume that you are going to be sleeping in the bed on the opposite side of the room, of whichever one I pick."

"Yes," he nods.

"I don't mind."

Amanda takes a seat in the courtroom, behind Barba. He hangs up his phone, and shakes his head.

"Barba, is something wrong?"

He doesn't answer her. He rises to his feet. He declares, "The prosecution would like to call Olivia Benson to the stand."

The defendant and his counsel stare at each other in disbelief. The judge scowls at Barba.

"Mister Barba what kind of stunt are you trying to pull?"

Before he can answer a door opens, and someone approaches the stand. The bailiff steps forward, and swears in the witness.

"Thank you for joining us Miss Benson, can you recount your interaction with the defendant for the jury?"

Court is adjourned late that evening, after hours of testimony. The jury is sent for deliberation. Fin escorts the witness out of the building. Amanda joins him in the back of the car. She slams the door.

"Can someone tell me what's going on here?"

"Amanda, I am sorry. This is not what I wanted to happen. In a million years this is not how I wanted things to transpire."

"We thought that you were dead."

"It was the only way," she insists.

"You left two little girls."

"In very capable hands."

"You have been for four years. Those little girls have been without their mother their entire lives."

"What choice did I have? If I had stayed he would have found me. He would have taken them from me."

"You could have taken them with you."

"To live their entire lives as a lie? That wasn't fair either."

Fin speaks up, "Can we all agree that none of this is fair, and move on?"

"Are you back?" Amanda questions.

"Just for the trial."

"Then what?"

"I'll head back to Ohio."

"Do you really expect Fin to let you come in here after all of this time, and take the girls back to Ohio with you?"

"Amanda that is between the two of us," Fin scolds her.

"Fin, it's okay, it is a fair question. I don't expect to come back after four years, and completely uproot their lives. It is a complicated situation. Life moves on."
